In this summary of the video “session 3 bhakti shastri, bhagavad gita,” the speaker reviews the end of Chapter 1 and introduces Chapter 2, outlining Arjuna’s initial compassion, tears, and lamentation on the battlefield and Krishna’s role as guru. They explain Krishna’s threefold correction of Arjuna’s mood—labeling his compassion as an unwise, body-centered emotion—then detail Arjuna’s shift to surrender, accepting Krishna as his teacher. The session then maps the five sections of Chapter 2: Arjuna’s reverent learning, Krishna’s body-soul discourse, Karma-Yoga (work with enjoyment), Nishkama Karma (work without attachment), and the character of a wise person, with plans to cover these topics in deeper future sessions. The lecturer emphasizes the need to approach a bonafide guru and the distinction between body, mind, and soul, preparing students for Krishna’s teachings on the soul’s immortality.

[Music] oh [Music] om e chrishna [Music] Namaste Sani [Music] Hur Krishna Hur Krishna Krishna Krishna Hur hurry Hur Hur h h har Krishna am I audible clearly okay so today we will uh begin the second chapter of bhagat Gita in the last uh session we have completed the first chapter so before beginning the second chapter I'll give a quick preview of the first chapter so in the first chapter we have seen how Arjuna was bewildered confused about his own Duty fighting in the war so the first chapter began with the question of dhar rashtra to Sanaya so Dutra was not on the battlefield so he was hearing the updates from the battlefield from Sanaya and dtra's inquiry released uh revealed his Greed for the kingdom and also his doubts about the victory of his own sons and also his partiality towards his own sons and his neglect and indifference towards pandu's Sons so he just asked after assembling on the battlefield of kurukshetra to fight what did my sons and Pand son too now uh in response to this question by dtra Sanaya is describing the scene on the battlefield on the battlefield duryodhan went to his Guru dronacharya and started speaking exhibiting his fears and also diplomacy so duryodhan approached dronar in the second schloka and from third schloka till sixth schloka duryodhan was describing the army of pandavas and all the chief Warriors in the army of pandavas then in the next few verses 7 to9 duryodhan described the chief members of his own Army that include bishma Kara drona and many other personalities and then he gave a comparison between both the armies so my Army is led by bishma and their army is led by beima and bishma is a more experienced General and beima is not so experienced so I have better chances of victory so actually he was surprised to see such a wonderful military arrangement of pandavas still he was hiding his fears and exhibiting some kind of confidence so in this wayra sorry duryodhan was exhibiting some kind of confidence and he's also requesting duryan dronacharya not to become partial to the pandavas and he was also trying to anger by reminding him of his previous conflict with d Maharaj and many other things so that completes the next section 2 to 11 now later we have seen that bishma began to blow his consell actually blowing consell is done before worshiping Lord Vishnu so bhishma's blowing of consell is also a sign of victory for the pandas and after bishma blew his consell then Sanaya describes how Krishna and Arjuna mounted on a transcendental and divine Chariot and they started blowing their conscience and also the names of this Beautiful Conscience were also given the the names of the conscience of of Krishna Arjuna and the all the other pandas so we have seen all that so when Krishna and the pandavas blew their conscience the hearts of all the kurus got Shattered by hearing those conscience but when kurus were blowing their conscience nothing has happened to the side of pandavas because the pandavas have taken shelter of Krishna and whenever someone take shelter of Krishna Victor is assured for them okay so that's the third section blowing of conscience and signs of Victory and there are other signs of Victory also uh like there was this emblem of Hanuman G on the flag of our Arjuna and we also have seen two stories connected to this Kida connected to hanan's sitting on the flag of Arjuna and then Arjuna requests Krishna actually AR picks up his bow and arrows and he prepared himself to even shoot arrows but at this moment Arjuna requests Krishna to take the Chariot between both the armies so that he can examine who all have assembled on the battle to please the evil minded son of thear rashtra then Krishna being an obedient driver and an affectionate Lord and friend and brother me cousin of Arjuna he takes the Chariot between both the armies and Arjuna starts observing all the armies on both sides he was observing not only the kurus Army he was also observing people on his own side so he saw so many relatives he saw friends and he saw family members he saw brothers and fathers and fathers-in-law and Sons and grandsons he has seen so many categories of relatives 10 categories of relatives we have seen that day so then he was overwhelmed with compassion and uh in the final section of this chapter we see there are four reasons why Arjuna said I cannot fight first reason was his own compassion for his relatives and out of his deep compassion he was exhibiting so many bodily symptoms his his limbs were quivering and his mouth is drying up and his skin was burning and many such symptoms he was experiencing so that was the first reason compassion secondly uh he was thinking that I can't enjoy even if I become victorious in this battle so he was foring no enjoyment because for me to enjoy I need the association of my own relatives isn't it if I kill my own relatives in the battlefield of kurukshetra how will I enjoy he was thinking like that then for the third reason he gave he said that uh although they are aggresses still if you kill our own family members and elders and gurus grandfathers Etc uh we will incur sin so he was fearful of sinful reactions and finally he gave the fourth reason he says in this battle if I kill so many people what will happen to their families so the family Elders will die and the younger members in the family will not have any guidance and the other family members will become orphans and their family traditions will be lost and uh many other uh uh know un mentionable consequences could happen because of the distruction of family and family traditions so Arjuna Arjuna said that oh goind I cannot fight he just sat down he left he kept said his Gand above and he sat down on the Chariot with a grief stricken face so this is a quick summary of the first chapter of bhagat Gita now let's enter the second chapter in the second chapter there are five major sections first Arjuna because he was so confused he was bewildered he was accepting Krishna as his teacher right and he would ask so many questions already has asked so many questions so Arjuna accepts Krishna as his teacher in the first 10 shlokas we will see this section and in the next 20 shlokas schloka number 11 to 30 we will see Krishna revealing the knowledge of body and Soul this is called or S and third section of this chapter is Krishna describes how to work for enjoyment which is Sak Karma okay so Arjuna your work is to fight so you please fight uh and you will enjoy and even if you win in the battle or lose in the battle enjoyment is guaranteed right if you lose in the battle and die in the battle then you will go to heaven and you will enjoy there and if you win the battle you will enjoy on the Earthly Planet so enjoyment is guaranteed by doing your prescribed duty of fight that's the third section Sak Karma which is not the ultimate teaching of bhagat Gita when we come there we will discuss maybe we'll come to this third section only tomorrow and today we'll complete the first section and second section also we won't be able to complete we'll do maximum half of second section then fourth Krishna describes how to work with Detachment which is Nish Karm yoga and the fifth section of this chapter is the qualities of a prna or a wise person who is situated in his own sound intelligence so these are the five major sections of this chapter so these five sections we will do at least in four sessions because first chapter is very simple we went little fast there were so many stories and many devotees are also familiar with the contents of the first chapter the second chapter will take a couple of weeks for us to complete so we'll go slowly from the second chapter so now we have seen a quick summary of the first chapter and we have seen the contents of the second chapter now let's begin with the first section so how did the first chapter end first chapter ended with arjuna's disinclination to fight Arjuna said I cannot fight and who is narrating this whole scene to whom Sanaya narrating this to dhra so D heard oh Arjun was not inclined to fight D got excited wow wonderful then then there's a scope for my son's Victory so he was thinking like that then immediately Sanaya said to shatter the hopes ofra Sanaya immediately said no no no although Arjuna said he will not fight Krishna will definitely enus him to fight he will inspire him to fight okay that's how the the first shoka begins so the first section contains 10 shlokas where Arjun accepts krishna's gr okay so now hearing about arjuna's disinclination to fight D became so joyful okay now we will Rec the first Krishna [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] very good so so means at that time Krishna has seen Arjun in what situation A kppa means Compassion or Mercy aish means being so overwhelmed Arjuna was so overwhelmed with compassion his eyes were filled with tears right so Krishna has seen Arjuna in such a state of deep compassion clear first line is clear then as as means tears falling from eyes paa means fill the eyes were filled with tears means I so Krishna has seen Arjuna full of compassion with his eyes full of tears clear compassion and tears then means means speaking sanan spoke bhagan means Krishna spoke arj means Arjuna spoke me speaking who spoke madus spoke why Krishna is called mad because Krishna has killed a demon named Madu so Krishna is the killer of Madu demon that's why he's called mad so mad he spoke to whom he spoke to V lamenting Arjuna vishada means lamentation sadness okay vant means one who is lamenting that is Arjuna what did he speak the following words so these words are there from the next is it clear the meaning of is clear so let's recite the again J you can recite [Music] [Music] okay the meaning of Thea is clear now let's get into the details so in the shloka we see three things three qualities of Arjuna what are they number one Kaya means he's full of compassion number two Ashu his eyes are filled with tears number three vishada lamentation compassion tears and lamentation these are the three key wordss that are describing arjuna's emotions now fine internally he was compassionate and lamenting and externally they are seen in the form of Tears clear so propa says in the purport compassion lamentation and tears are products of One's Own bewilderment so when do we uh become sad when we are confused sometimes right not always okay but sometimes when we are confused then we lament and we we have tears and compassion is a good quality see kPa means compassion is a very Noble quality but that compassion should not be shown in a different context in a wrong context so one has to show compassion for a right reason not for the wrong reason right Arjuna was compassionate on the material bodies of his relatives right that was his issue so propad gives this example you see now this person is drowning another person is trying to lift him okay save him so what should he save he should save the person or the dress say this person is wearing a beautiful expensive golden ring and a wonderful wrist watch and a very expensive suit and shoes and tie uh so these are all expensive now this person who is trying to rescue uh should rescue the golden ring or the wristatch or the suit or the person he has to rescue the person right so compassion for the dress of a drowning person is senseless gives a simple example so when Arjuna is lamenting he's saying oh I cannot fight I have to kill so many people he cannot kill people so the first teaching that Krishna gives to Arjuna is you cannot kill anybody because nobody is destined to die as such right only the bodies die the souls can never die person within the body can never die that's the first teaching of Krishna which he starts from the 11th schloka so arjun's compassion is on a bodily plan so prop says compassion for the dress of a drowning man is senseless compassion is for the Eternal Soul here The Compassion is for the person here not for the wristwatch or for the golden ring so compare compion is for Eternal Soul and the real compassion is compassion shown on the Soul on the living being who is inside the body and trying to bring people to B Yoga right so emotion disconnected from reason ends in Tribulation so we should we can have emotions Arjuna became so emotional Arjuna BEC so compassionate so that emotions are very common but we should base our emotions and compassion on a sound reason not an illogical reason right so otherwise it will lead to tribulation right so these are some points from the purport that propad has written so Krishna killed the demon Madu that's why he called the name madhus fine so Arjuna says Krishna you have killed the demon Madu now you please kill the demon of my misunderstanding please kill the demon of my confusion WR in the purport like this so Krishna is described as madus because he's going to kill the demon of misunderstanding when we have doubts in the mind when we have some misunderstanding when we don't have proper um logical uh understanding of the real facts of life we are actually caught by a demon okay so it's like it's a situation of being caught by a demon so Krishna has to kill the demon so that's why he described as m here so the first is clear so basically prop also writes in the perp so let me read the lines I think I already shared in the slide so writes in the are you able to see the folio the word madus is significant in this verse you can read saki want to read this the highlighted lines you can read yes yes the word madana is significant in this verse Lord Krishna killed the demon Madu and now Arjuna wanted Krishna to kill the demon of Mis understanding that had overtaken him in the discharge of his duty no one arj was misunderstanding what was exactly his misunderstanding because he was supposed to perform his duty as a chhatria to fight in the war but he was confused right he misunderstood not fighting is better than fighting his duty is something and he misunderstood his own Duty oh not fighting is better than fighting so Krishna is supposed to counsel Arjuna give him proper understanding compassion for the dress of D sens we already seen so once in a while we'll see the exact statements also so now let's go to the second schloka who will recite the second schok Arana [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so here Krishna is going before getting into theok let's first read the first linean let's discuss that then we'll get into so gives a Longport on thisan means opulence okay or one means one who possesses opulence so Krishna is the possessor of six kinds of opulences what are they number one wealth wisdom number two wisdom three strength four fame five Beauty six renunciation so these are the six kinds of opulences that Krishna possesses in full so there are so many wealthy people in this world uh but no one can claim the entire wealth in the entire universe is there anyone who possesses the entire wealth in the entire universe is there anyone who uh who has all the strength in the whole Creation with him right is there anyone who is the most beautiful person right so Krishna is the collection of all beauties he's called Sr so Krishna has all the six opulences completely and anyone who has little opulence also uh any of the six opulences have those opulences only because of krishna's Grace only because Krishna sanctioned them so because Krishna is the possessor of the six opulences he is called bhagavan and that bhagavan AA indicates that it's the Supreme personality of godhead the Supreme Lord is speaking not anyone so when Krishna is speaking it's not Krishna watch when Arjun is speaking it is arj when San is speaking is sanra is speaking it isra but when Krishna is speaking it is bhagan it is bhagavan who is speaking who is the possessor of all sixes and further propad explains that the absolute truth is realized in three phases what are they Brahman paramatma and bhagavan so now bhagavan is the possessor of all the six opulences we have just seen now that is strength Fame knowledge Beauty Etc okay now paramatma is a partial representation of the bhagavan I'll give you an example say there is sun in the sky okay shining so brilliantly in the sky okay so now you keep some 10 parts filled with water and now the reflection of the sun can be seen in all these 10 parts isn't it so Sun God is one only sun is shining so brilliantly in the sky he's only one but his reflection is there in 10 parts you can see 10 sons in the in the 10 parts if you keep 100 Parts you will see 100 Reflections right similarly Krishna is one God is one but his expansions are so many they are all the paramas they are called super Souls now Krishna in the form of Super Soul or paramatma is present within the hearts of all living beings right is there in my heart is there in your heart is there in your heart is there in yod's heart he's there in Sri lmi's hat he's there in all the other children's hat everybody's hat not only the hats of living beings he is there within the hearts within every single atom right even non- living beings also have the Lord's presence within them Krishna says in the seven chapter of bhagat Gita how he is present everywhere is the taste of water when we drink water uh it's tasty so the taste of the water will quench our thirst and water is the material little bit right there's no soul inside okay but there's Super Soul inside when you drink when you eat some little sugar particle or some good it's so sweet isn't it is there soul in the sugar particle no but there Super Soul in the sugar particle because of the presence of paramatma within the sugar sugar particle that is sweet and when you're putting that little particle on your tongue that's that's giving so much taste right to your tongue so the Lord is there in every nuk and corner of the entire creation he's all pering how he's all pering we will see in the 10th chapter of bhagat Gita so that is a partial representation of the Lord so bhagavan is the Supreme Lord the person and paramatma is a partial expansion of that person and what is Brahman Brahman is the affence of that person so Krishna is so so the bodily affence of Krishna is called Brahman and it is impersonal right so these are the three phases in which the Supreme Lord is realized okay just like prop gives this example of sun to explain this so there is Sun the ray of the sun are compared to Brahman and the sun Globe is compared to paramatma and the sun Planet itself or the Sun God himself is compared to bhagavan right so now when you are seeing Sun there are sun rays and the sun globe and there is Sun planet and Sun God in the planet right so like the three phases of sun you can see so in the olden days there used to be trains right trains so like from a distance when you're standing on the platform you will see the smoke of the train first okay from a distance that is Brahman and as the train is coming little closer you will see there are some different bogies like right you are getting little more understanding of of the train but once the train comes on the platform and stands there you can enter the GOI and you will see your birth and you will have your seat and fan and light and everything so we are actually zooming into the train it is like bhagan realization so it's the same Supreme Lord but he's realized in three phases depending on our approach when we approach the Lord with biy with love we will realize him as a person and see him face to face but there are some people who meditate on the Lord they do asang yoga they meditate on paramatma within right they see the partial representation of the L the zerox copy okay you have original original copy of your certificate okay 10th standard certificate whichever certificate but you can take zerox of so many zerox of that certificate and so many copies will come out similarly God is one but he can expand himself into un limited patmas to stay within the hearts of all living beings like the zeros scopy right so paramatma meditators are there the yogis they meditate on the paramatma we will see that in the sixth chapter of bhagat Gita and there are people who just philosophically analyze things and their aim is to just reach the affence of the Lord that we will see later it's it's not so much within the scope of our current discussion but at this moment we should understand that Krishna is bhagavan and when you say s bhagan you need to understand it is the Supreme Lord who is speaking not any ordinary personality that's why bhagat Gita is called bhagavat Gita the Gita that is spoken by bhagavan fine so bhagan is over now let's get into the shloka where is the [Music] shloka so so in the shoka Krishna chastises Arjuna okay Krishna says I'm showing you the subini so in subini for several shlokas I have given line by line meaning so whatever I have given I will show sub directly but whever I have not given I will show the slide with Lim by Li fine so now means impurity contamination in this current context it is confusion right oh AR where did you get this impurity within you right means in this hour of crisis when you are sitting on the battlefield about to fight in this war so where have you this where did you get this impurity of the Mind why did you get confused so much like this means civilized people anaria means uncivilized mentality Anar means this kind of mentality doesn't fit a civilized man who knows the value of Liberation who knows the value of Life an then second is as means Heavenly Planet as means this kind of mentality will not lead you to Heavenly planet or higher planets F third oh Arjuna they also cause you infam kti means Fame ATI means infam so this kind of mentality of not fighting according to your prescribed Duty will cause you infam is it clear the meaning of the first is clear second I'm sorry so where have these impurities come upon you Arjuna in this hour of Crisis so what is the nature of this impurities three threefold number one it doesn't fit a civilized man Arya second they don't lead to higher planets third they lead to INF fine so this is how Krishna disapproved the mentality of Arjuna Arjuna you must have given a very long analysis of uh of why you can't fight why you can't fight in the war so I understand that but my understanding of your understanding is you have misunderstood right it's misunderstanding see your arguments do not have very great logic so you are unnecessarily getting confused right ajun they will only cause you infam don't think that oh Arjuna is such a people will think that Arjun is such a wonderful Soul he so detached from the kingdom he has given up his kingdom out of compassion for his relatives so people don't people will not praise you like that a they will cause INF to you right if you run away from your duty people will think that oh Arjuna became fearful seeing bishma and d and K on the battlefield so he ran away that's what they will think okay nobody will praise you for your compassion people will only criticize you for running away from the Battle for ignoring your duty so they will cause ATI so in this way Arjuna chastised sorry Krishna chastised Arjuna so sometimes when our duty is very auster very difficult to perform uh we may show some renunciation right I am very tired of my daily duties let me become a sasi some people may think like that okay I'm tired of this studies let me just give up the studies okay so I'm tired of this job let me give up this job but actually when it is a prescribed Duty when it is when the scriptures enjoin that we have to perform certain Duty so we should not go back from the duty so we have to responsibly perform the duty so for example mother has to feed the children prop Krishna says that in the 14th schloka mother cooks and feeds the children right so one day mother takes leave mother says okay I'm little fed up with this cooking it's very hot outside it's summer day I will not cook today and she will give up her beauty what will the children eat right so mothers extend themselves to feed the children right because that's they they voluntarily to take that responsibility so just because you are tired of your duty that does not mean you take up to some false renunciation so deviation from duty is disapproved by Krishna as a result when either progresses in spiritual life not become fous right when it's not an Aran way of living what are Aran what is Arian Arians do not refer to a particular race or civilization right Arians means they are some special chrias or what no Arya is a person who knows the value of Life who seeks spiritual realization such a person is called Arya Arjun is Arya because he knows the value of of Life he's a great warrior he's a great shria but Krishna says you are behaving like anarya not Arya right you're supposed to be very civilized person but why did you give up your mentality to fight so Krishna is chastising Arjun so earlier Arjuna was overwhelmed with three things compassion lamentation and tears you remember firsta compassion kPa lamentation Vish tears ASU we discussed in the firsta you remember so Arjuna exhibited these three qualities but Krishna said Arjuna they don't beit a prince they're a great Prince Arya they don't lead to higher planets and they lead to infam so arjun's three qualities have three faults Krishna said so Krishna disapproved and he further chastises Arjuna s [Music] excellent so in Thea Krishna is continuing to chastise Arjun actually Krishna speaks half schloka in the first chapter and in this chapter he speaks these two shlokas before he begins his teachings actual teachings of Krishna begin from 11th shoka now this two shlokas are additional okay where Krishna kind of chastised Arjun so Krishna says let me show the meaning so Krishna says in theok he says that you are my friend although you are my friend your your behavior doesn't suit my friendship right Clum means Cardis importance right you're a chhatria you're supposed to fight with so much of Valor and courage but you're showing C do not yield to this degrading importance my dear Arjuna okay it doesn't suit you it doesn't match your mentality it doesn't match your demeanor because Arjuna is such a such a powerful chria very celebrated Warrior he has so many military certificates so Arjuna fought with so many great warriors he killed Nas and he could impress even Lord Shiva with his Valor and he got pashupatastra from Shiva and he could impress even even Indra so like that several devatas also appreciated arjuna's greatness as a warrior and he's the favorite disciple of drona okay his military teacher but when such a great warrior is saying I'm unable to fight I cannot fight Gand is slipping from my hand it is such a shame right so Krishna said he doesn't it's not suitable to you my dear Arjun he is means very Petty means heart b means strength means weakness so means pett weakness of heart this so-called magnanimity Compassion or nonviolence that you're exhibiting is only a result of your weakness of heart give it up means give it up get up means a chastiser of enemy so you are a chastiser of enemy you're supposed to chastise and defeat all the enemies you can't just get scared seeing your enemies okay like this so the meaning is clear the thir shoka now chrias are highly honored and now Krishna is calling him important or covered and weak very shattering words if any other person had spoken like this in front of Arjun Arjun would have just chopped off his head right but here Krishna because Krishna is speaking arj was humbly hearing right it's such a big blow on the ego ofria chhatria declines to fight he's a chria only name Brahman is supposed to be pure he's supposed to teach If he if he's not inclined to be Pure or clean or teach or do some or worship he is a Brahman only me so we don't want Arjuna to be a nam sake chria he's supposed to be a real chhatria Krishna says no no Arjuna you should just give up your petty weakness of heart and start fighting in the war now fourth shoka so Arjuna starts responding again so who will decide this [Music] so he's saying AR is saying Krishna chastising as important and covered this and that but please understand my situation how can I counter attack oh mad mad means you are the CH of mad demon so means I how will I confront with bishma in the battle and D bishma is my grandfather very worshipable personality and Dam D is my teacher they both are worshipable personalities how can I confront them in the battlefield you are AR you are not gur so you have killed enemy Ari means enemy AR sud means one who kills enemies oh Krishna you are madana and Madu is a demon who is an enemy so madus and Aris two things are mentioned so both are indicating that Krishna is s of enemy only so you have killed a demon who is an enemy and you have not killed your grandfather you have not killed your Guru s right so how counter attack isui with arrows ISU means arrows PR means the counter attack how can I counteract pu my worshipable grandfather and teacher bishma Anda so Arjuna definitely had a lot of emotions for so many relatives there but he specifically had emotions for vishma and drona bishma is a very wonderful caretaker of all the pandavas and he has deep gratitude for bishma and also drona drona is his military teacher so Arjuna became very emotional so it is a general eate that superiors are not to be offered even verbal fight this from proport so would Krishna attack his grandfather UGA and his teacher s so even if a superior chastises us we are supposed to exhibit some kind of uh uh tolerance right oh we should respect their their greatness we should respect their age experience and their position and we should tolerate even if they kind of chastise us right but uh but how can you expect me to even kill them to throw arrows upon them so I'm not prepared to fight with my own grandfather and and Guru my dear Krishna so please leave me okay he says then further uh Krishna I'm sorry Arjuna saysa so so here Arjun is giving his argument finally he says kishna it's better for me to do to in this world and live like that it's better for me to live life by begging in this world instead of gur instead of killing my own teachers and killing and living at their cost mahanan means they are all Mahan they are great Souls so my teachers my grandfathers my relatives are great Souls I cannot live at their cost they gurus they my great superiors if I kill them although they are Desiring worldly gain means means they're Desiring some worldly gain still if you kill them and enjoy the property whatever I enjoy will be tainted with their blood whatever enjoyable things that I'm going to get after winning this for are rudh pran rudh means blood pran means is Tainted so the kingdom that I'm going to acquire will be tainted with blood if I kill my relatives kill my gurus kill my superiors here Guru is not necessarily a teacher Guru is superior okay so better to live by begging instead of killing them so in this way Arjuna becomes so overwhelmed with compassion for his own relatives for [Music] [Music] so he says actually till fifth he was giving sound arguments but like overwhelmed with emotions emotional arguments he's giving but when he came to the sixa he was completely confused he said oh the the enjoyment that I'm going to receive after killing my own superiors will be tainted with blood so fifth there was some kind of logic but in the sixth shoka he said that maybe killing them is right no no no killing them is not right maybe being killed by them is right so he's like getting too too deranged was getting too emotional he says do we know which is better what is better I also cannot understand con them are being conquered by them which is better conquering them or being conquered by them heble to decide right till now he said that coning them is not good and not fighting is better but now he's saying that whether to conquer them or being conquered by them which is better I don't understand so by killing themra mean by killing the sons ofra we should not care to live because without them there's no enjoyment right so we don't have to care to live but still they all have ARR they they all have assembled on the battlefield right in front of us right in front of us they have assembled all the sons ofra so what to do so this whole schloka is not having a very Sound Logic actually right he is just speaking in great confusion we don't know whether to conquer them or being conquered by them uh if we kill them we don't care to we should not care to live but still they are standing in front of us so he was like quite confused okay so now let's discuss some purp points also so Arjun is confused here he was thinking should I dutifully fight at the risk of unnecessary violence so he thinks that violence is unnecessary but the fight his duty so should I do that or should I refrain from fighting and live by begging that CH his Detachment and victory is anyway not certain even if we fight we are not sure whether he'll get Victory and even if I get victory that Victory is also defeat because I won't be able to enjoy without my relatives so so many thoughts are overwhelming him he's unable to decide clearly what is good for him okay and for he says that oh they are all my teachers they are respectable personalities how can I kill them now you see some points from the previous purport so drona uh cided the evil-minded duryan right for various reasons so teacher who engages in an abominable action and has lost his sense of discrimination is fit to be abundant prop writes in the purport although a teacher has to be respected ordinarily but if the teacher develops some abominable mentality the teacher can be rejected bishma and D were obliged to take the side of duryodhan because of his financial assistance so based on financial considerations they cannot support adarma so they have to be you know confronted on the battle so but Arjuna is thinking that they are still my superiors although they have taken the side of adarma still I respect them still I still I uh worship them that is not logical right so under these circumstances they have lost their respectability as teachers as superiors so better you fight with them so whoever is on the side of adharma has to be killed now bishma is definitely a great Soul he has to be respected always he's a great Mahajan but here Krishna wanted to show an important lesson to the whole world I spoke in the first chapter also however powerful you may be however great you may be if you take the side of adharma you have to be defeated and this is the lesson that Krishna wanted to give to the whole world and bishma is acting as a humble instrument in the hands of Krishna so bishma is uh just playing the role of a humble servant of Krishna and allowing Krishna to give this lesson to the whole world through him through himself right so and now you see bishma and drona did not do much uh when when dropi was being disr it's Krishna who has come and protected dropadi so this also shows not that bishma doesn't want to save but the ultimate understanding of this whole P time is that when every single power in the entire Cosmos fails to protect you Krishna still retains the power to protect us right so when everybody either like either because of lack of inclination or ability okay if someone doesn't protect us still Krishna retains the inclination and ability to protect us sometimes people may not be inclined to save us sometimes people may not have the capacity to protect us they may not be compassionate to protect us but Krishna always has that compassion and capacity to protect us so to prove this bishma acted as an instrument in krishna's hands that bishma bishma could have protected also but let Krishna protect let Krishna be established as the Supreme protector of all his devotees yoga let the rest of the eternity let it be established for the rest of Eternity so like that so next yeah there are many other points let's not get into this so to to summarize Arjuna says how can I Counterattack bishma and D better I live by begging I don't know which is better to conquer them are being conquered by them even an unrival Kingdom cannot mitigate my grief he says that so he says I want be violent in front of my own uh friends and relatives but see surgery involves cutting of body some blood this and that is it violence or benevolence okay so you may say that oh doctors are being violent they're cutting they're they're opening the chest opening the heart and they're cutting and they the patient is bleeding actually this is an act of benevolence similarly when Krishna also is instigating Arjuna to fight and kill do some violence in the war he's only trying to establish Dharma he's not being violent here he's trying to establish Dharma that is his benevolence so in this context finally Arjuna says this is a very popular SCH Rec can I recite you can [Music] recite very good thank you lakmi so you know the meaning of Thea we discussed in our Gita jti series also but still we'll discuss again so means weakness Krishna I have lost my composure completely because of this because ofly weakness what is what isly weakness here although arj Isa he's unable to act like a chhatria that is the do here right he's unable to utilize his chhatria power and uh what is that wisdom to do his duty he he is failing despite having so much of knowledge and experience and power he's failing to utilize all of that that is k k is a miser what is a miser do he has so much of wealth but he doesn't use them right he doesn't use money means he has a lot of wealth he doesn't use it similarly as a chhatria Arjun had lot of power Arjun had lot of wisdom but able to use them he confused that's I composion I'm asking you because I'm confused about my duty I'm asking you tell me for certain what is good for me what is auspicious for me please tell me I have become your disciple earlier Arjun and Krishna were friends later Arjuna became Warrior and Krishna became driver now Arjuna will become disciple and Krishna will become teacher Guru please instruct me I have surrendered to you I have taken your shelter so in this way uh our Arjuna keeps his said all friendly talks and he accepts Krishna as his Guru so prop writes brilliant purports before that let me read some purports from the previous so I think I have I have discussed these purports but this one thing we want to uh read once who will read yes Hass you can read this the color lines you read he proved that Not only was he a great devot of the Lord but he was also High highly enlightened and had complete control over his mind and sens okay thank you thank you so yeah we'll stop here so you see here propad highlights several qualities of Arjuna although Arjuna is being confused here still there are some good qualities of Arin one thing is he has complete control over his mind and senses so generally on the battlefield people are so greedy for the kingdom they are so passionate okay if enemy is there I have I have arrows let me kill them get the Kingdom so there's some greed there's some passion but Arjuna has complete composure of Senses he is able to control his mind control his senses right so that's a positive side of Arjuna Arjuna story then uh is you can read this green lines he desired to live by begging although he was born in the Royal household uh is another sign of Detachment H see he was detached although he was born in a Royal household he was showing a lot of Detachment because he wanted to even beg and live that's another good quality so mind control and sense control second is detachment third uh saan pru read the purple lines he was truly virtuous as this qualities combined with his faith in the words of instruction of Sri Krishna his spiritual Master indicate and he's accepting Krishna as his Guru means he has faith in Krishna there is third good quality first is mind and sense control second is Detachment third is Faith in Krishna so it is concluded that Arjuna was quite for Liberation see that such although we saw Arjuna is a confused chria from one perspective but he's also soft-hearted vnav who has Detachment who has self selfcontrol mind control sense control and magnanimity compassion so all these good qualities of Arjuna made him a Bonafide recipient of the signs of Soul right now Krishna is going to give the teachings of bhagat Gita that disposition is also good to receive spiritual teachings okay now let us uh see the meaning of this shloka we have seen the meaning Soka let's see some insights so the world is a place of confusion so prop writes in the that this world is filled with perplexities perplexities means a lot of confusions so in the midst of perplexities we should approach a Bonafide spiritual Master to get freed from perplexities of Life they're like forest fire you the forest will someone go and set fire no in the forest there is friction between bamboos because of wind the dry bamboos will just collide with each other and they will generate fire and the bamboo Bush will burn and that fire will go from bamboo Bush to the next tree next tree next tree entire Forest will burn okay so nobody sets fire in the forest but still forest fire takes place because of wind and friction between bamboos simp similarly nobody desires to be miserable in this world still miseries come in this world okay just because we are present in the material world we are supposed to encounter some miseries some problems some perplexities some confusions some bewilderments so in such bewildered state of mind if you go and approach a Bonafide Guru the guru will bring Clarity in the confused Minds here Arjuna has the opportunity to directly approach Guru kishna and we have krishna's Representatives as gurus so a guru takes us on a journey from confusion to Clarity and it is the recommendation of all scriptures that we approach a Bonafide spiritual Master to come out of the perplexities of life so we already discussed about K so Arjuna is considered K here or he is considering himself K because he's unable to use his wisdom and Valor as a chhatria similarly a human being is supposed to inquire about spiritual subject matters and utilize his human life properly but if a human being who is not utilizing the opportunity in human life for Spiritual upliftment is right so that is because of skin disease skin disease indicates being overwhelmed with the skin our body we have a skin relation with other people and we have a soul relation okay skin relation is bodily relation blood relation so Arjun is getting overwhelmed with his blood relationships which is also called Skin relation but uh there's a soul relation which is permanent Soul relation is centered on Krishna because I'm a child of Krishna and someone else is a child of Krishna th we both are connected to each other we both are related to each other on a spiritual platform with Krishna in the CCT now I belong to this dynasty and they belong to the same Dynasty so we both are connected to each other based on body so the bodily relations skin relations with body in the center are in substantial although we have to do the needful in those relationships but they are temporary we need to understand them but Soul relation based on Krishna and Krishna Consciousness they are permanent right we all have permanent relationship with each other on the basis of soul and Krishna so so confusion is common but an intelligent person is one who approaches a teacher in that confusion so when the magnitude of your problem goes beyond your ability to solve you better humbly approach a teacher and that humility is real intelligence Arjuna always confused his intelligent here because in a confused state of mind he approached Guru Krishna to clear the confusion somebody is in confusion it is not approaching a person who can clear the confusion so he's foolish but somebody's in confusion if he's in intelligent person he should go and approach a person who can solve the problems right so that is real intelligence so with our intelligence we may not be able to solve all our problems but we should be intelligent and deligent enough to approach a person who can help us solve the problems that is intelligence that much intelligence we should have we may not have the intelligence to solve all problems but we should have intelligence to approach a person who can solve the problem okay I know where to go I don't know what to do but at least I know where to go and ask what to do okay that much is should be there okay at least we may not remember something at least I know where it is I can open the book and see okay that much we should we should have we should approach a guru so now Arjuna wish to listen from Krishna without any opposition so now Krishna may say I am I am chasing you because in the second and third Shas Krishna chased Arjuna but Arjun again came up with some arguments now Arjuna says now you are asking me to become your Guru I will say something and you will say something against me what's the point of becoming your Guru then AR say no no no I not give you any arguments anymore so please I'm coming with an empty mind uh you please instruct me okay so when we go to a guru we should also be willing to listen if we have our own preconceived notions if you go with an empty if you go with a full vessel we can't fill anything which is coming from the guru but if you go with an empty vessel then Guru will pour the nectar of his instruction okay so ego is a big barrier for us to approach Guru so uh the ego's destruction seems like self-destruction many times but the destruction of ego is the pathway for self realization so like to approach someone else seek their guidance seek their advice requires uh keeping a set F if I'm egoistic if I if I have a sense of superiority complex if I feel that why should I approach another person I can solve my problems that ego blocks us to approach a guru when we keep aside that ego and surrender to a person who is more intelligent than us whose intelligence is more spiritual than us then we are on the path to selfrealization Arjun is doing this so in every step of life there's a perplexity a bonafied guru can give us proper guidance so better to look stupid in front of a guru by asking what we don't know than acting stupid by pretending that we know okay sometimes we think that we know everything and we may do some stupid activity but better accept one own stupidity in front of a guru okay Guru please I don't know how to do this okay please you guide me you help me so that will help us now next I already spoke all this who will decide this [Music] says I cannot see I can't see any means to drive away this grief so I'm totally struck with grief I don't know how to come out of this grief yet sh means this grief this lamentation is drying me up me it's dry me up all senses are getting dried up means I will not be able to dispel even if I win an unrival prosperous kingdom means competitor means no competitor no rival even if I win a prosperous kingdom unrivaled kingdom even if I attain the kingdom of suras deas also Heavenly planets also I won't be able to drive away this this grief so Arjun was so overtaken by grief and anxiety and lamentation that he says even if you give the Kingdom of Heaven also I won't be able to mitigate this suffering so I'm taking your shelter please enlighten okay so so accepting our powerlessness can be most empowering so Arjuna understood that which might power I cannot solve this problem so I need empowerment from someone else so scholarship High position and many other things are useless if you can't solve the problems of our life so instead of being so proud of our scholarship and high position better be humble in front of a guru who can help us solve the problem of life right take shelter of Guru okay so next schloka har San [Music] [Music] very good so having spoken like this and Krishna so this AR he told shall not fighta so he has given up his arrows and bow and he sat there he felt silent so here Krishna is described as rishika Arjuna is described as Gish we discussed the meanings of this words in the previous chapter Soha took shelter ofha saying that goind cannot fight so now uh Krishna became serious till now Arjuna was giving arguments and finally Arjuna said I'm accepting you as Guru I cannot drive away my grief on my own you please tell me what am I supposed to do okay so the surrender indicates that he would soon be free from false lamentation and would be enlightened okay so Krishna Arjuna said Krishna I'm overwhelmed with grief I'm surrendering unto you that surrender taking shelter of a guru taking shelter of Krishna uh is the sign that very soon he will be enlightened with perfect knowledge and he will be able to do his duty perfectly right so all just like somebody may be dirty the very fact that this person has gone to the bathroom and about to take bath shows that sooner or later he will become clean okay the person is not inclined to take bath only okay then what is the possibility of he becoming clean he's becoming pure so he may not have become clean right now but he began the process of taking bath so in 5 minutes or 10 minutes once the bath is over then he'll become clean right all the stinking smell will go away okay so now 10 San okay anyone has not recited very desc ofra saying so at the time Krishna smiled why did Krishna smile because his friend became a disciple my friend became a student okay so the warrior who was on my Chariot has become my student my disciple so Krishna saided smiling okay so so he said this following words where in the middle of both he started speaking he was speaking to lamenting arj in this way now let us see the first teaching of uh Krishna okay so we okay we will skip this we already discussed this before basically only when asked advice we can speak here Arjuna did not speak sorry Krishna did not speak till now because Arjuna was not in a mood to listen now Arjuna completely surrendered himself in front of Krishna Krishna started giving his teachings okay so Krishna is always the in a superior position whether Krishna is playing the role of a chariot driver or a worshiper of brahmanas or a dependent child of mother Yoda and vind krishna's position is always superior just because Krishna has taken a subordinate position in front of his that does not mean you minimize his position Krishna is playing like a driver suddenly become a teacher Jag Guru okay so what is this because Krishna is always the Supreme personality godhead just to pleas his devotees he may take up different roles but we should not minimize the position of Krishna we cannot underestimate Krishna okay so now let's summarize whatever we have discussed so far so Krishna Arjuna lamenting with compassion and tears and later in the second and third loas Krishna disapproved arjuna's compassion and then Arjuna started speaking again in the fourth schok Arjuna said how can I counter attack bishma and better I live by begging I don't know which is better I'm confused I accept you as my Guru I can't find any means to drive away this ignorance so I accept you as my Guru then Krishna smiled and Sh speaking so let us see the first schloka of Krishna as a part of his teachings so from the 11th schloka till the 30th schloka isana or S it's an analysis of body and soul arjun's lamentation was based on the body the material body right so krishna's first teaching in bhagat Gita is the difference between Body and Soul the difference between matter and spirit matter is always dead spirit is always alive so we are going to get into Gana nowana is knowledge of body and soul San means analysis n is knowledge s is analysis okay so this whole section is analytical knowledge of matter and spirit or body and soul this is answer to arjuna's first question first argument which is based on bodily compassion let us see so who will recite this first schloka of Krishna har where are you harv are you there yes very good thank you so now I'll discuss the meaning of the but you see this yellow word here don't don't cry so means don't lament don't lament Arjun pitas means learned people don't lament and this is the first teaching of Krishna and what is the last teaching of Krishna in the 18th chapter okay so what did Krishna say the last don't worry okay don't lament he began his teachings by saying he ended his teachings by saying Mas don't lament okay so Krishna wanted to drive away the lamentation of Arjuna so now let us see the meaning of the I'll take the subini now where is it ah as so means lamentation as means not worth lamenting not worthy of grief as you are speaking learned words you are giving sound arguments based on scriptures and other things but you you're lamenting for something which is not worthy of your grief why are you grieving like this don't lament for wise people don't lament for Gat a they don't lament for the living people or dead people right they lament neither for the living nor for the dead so Arjun is not wise because earlier he presented two kinds of shastras one is arastra second is DH shastra okay arastra means those scriptures that speak about politics and sociology and DH shastra are those scriptures that speak about virtuous principles right so dhas are higher than greater than AR shastras so according to politics I may have to kill these people but according to Dharma you should show passion okay so dhas are better than arra so Krishna Arjun said that before he was showing compassion but Krishna says there isra which is higher than this dhra Andra what is thean shastra what do they teach the knowledge of matter Spirit and the controller of both means the knowledge of body soul and God so that is even higher So when you say dhra you may speak based on some Dharma some Duty which may be on a bily plane still right so it may be on compassion but compassion for the body so but I'm speaking on a different plane which is on a spiritual plane so which is above bodily plane that is shastra so Krishna says that arj are not wise people who are wise do not lament for gross body because anyways it's going to die they don't L for SLE body because it will not die right even if the gross body made of earth water fire dies the SLE body of Mind intelligence and ego will not die that will take the gross body to another gross body isn't it that will take the soul from one body to another body and soul will never die so okay let me show this picture you're able to see so now uh there are four things here in this picture one is the gross body which is made of earth water fire air ether which is constituting of our hands legs eyes Etc and inside that is SLE body which is made of Mind intelligence and ego and beyond that is soul soul is spiritual in nature and gross body and SLE body are material in nature but it's gross matter this is subtle matter okay all these hands and legs are made of gross matter and mind and intelligence are made of subtle matter but both matter only so there's gross body inside that there is SLE body inside that there is soul which is spiritual in nature and along with the soul there is Super Soul paramat so this is how our bodies our our systems are there so in all of us there is soul there is Super Soul and we have a gross body and settle body so gross body will anyways die and it's never alive and subtle body will die only when we are liberated okay only when the soul goes away from this material world and goes to the spiritual world then the subtle body is destroyed otherwise till then settle body that has so many desires and Impressions will continue to exist and soul has no Death Super Soul has no death so what are you lenting for okay so you don't have to lament for gross body you don't have to lament for settle body you don't have to lament for the soul or super what are you lenting for consider you are considering yourself as a learned Pandit now propad was once interacting with a small child so very nice story so propad called the child and asked the Char uh my dear boy uh what is this the boy said I prop said whose ey said my ey I boy said no okay then braa said what is this ear whose ear my ear are you ear no what is this hand whose hand my hand are you hand no okay you are saying my hand my eyes my nose my legs then who are you boy got confused right he's claiming that this body is mine but he's unable to say who is he this is my body my hand my leg my nose my stomach is says it's m but who is that ey to whom all these limbs belong to this body belongs to and that ey is soul and the little child did not have that understanding so we claim that this is my body but we are many people are not aware who is that I behind that so this body is not the person not the individual body belongs to the individual for for some time not always right once the tenure of a soul within a body is completed one has to leave the body right so uh so that's the first teaching of bhagat Gita don't lament for the dress of a droning person and everyone exists eternally there's no depth to the soul so if you kill these people in the in the battlefield you're only going to kill their bodies and not their souls Soul has no death okay so while speaking learned words you're mourning for what is not worthy of grief oh Arjuna so then we discussed this arra dastra shra already shra is based on politics and sociology dastra based on some virtuous moral principles Andra is based on knowledge of matter soul and the Supreme Lord that is more important so Krishna is speaking from a higher plane so next shloka uh and the soul is imperishable okay one who knows that the body always dies at any moment and the Soul Never Dies is a real learned person and whatever arguments that Arjuna has given so far are not based on this understanding so AR is not Lear okay 12th shoka okay 12th sloka who will recite any other children around okay let's let's give chance to elders [Music] [Music] this will be the last for today's discussion we could only do one dozen slokas today not more but second chapter is like that so let me show the meanings so Krishna says never was there a time when I did not exist I always existed all these things we have assembled on this battlefield right so all individuals existed at I as an individual you as an individual and all these Warriors as individuals we always existed eternally right there was never a time we never did not exist okay in the future also any of us shall any of us cease to be so we will continue to exist in future also we have been existing since time Memorial we are existing now and we will continue to exist for the rest of Eternity so there is no death There Is No Death for you or me or all these Warriors so this is a very important teaching of bhagat Gita so now now Krishna is equating himself with other individuals here in one sense but that does not mean Krishna is equal to all of us in all respects Krishna always existed and we also always existed he's Eternal we are Eternal that has not mean we are equal to Krishna Krishna is the Supreme Eternal amongst all eternals okay so Krishna is viu and we are Anu we are infinite asmal and he's infinite see he is eternal we are Eternal that does not mean we both are equal in all respects he is supremely powerful and we are minutely powerful okay so we may forget that we are Eternal and we may identify ourselves with the material body body and with a material designation but Krishna will never forget that he Eternal he is never forget that he's Eternal and he never identifies with anything material right he is the Supreme personality and he sand we are also sand sat means Eternal means knowledgeable an means Blissful so Krishna we also but we will forget that we are an and we sometimes lament okay and we sometimes become ignorant so our being chit and Anand is often covered and our understanding of being sat also is often covered in this material realm so although qualitatively we are same as Krishna quantitatively we are different at the same time we also forget that we are qualita same asna so just because Krishna is eternal and individual so there is no equality between Krishna and the living beings so Krishna is the maintainer of innumerable living entities so we cannot maintain ourselves we are individuals we are Eternal but we cannot even maintain ourselves we have to depend on someone else but Krishna can maintain everybody he's always alive within everybody's heart and all individuals existed eternally in the past and they will continue to exist in the future and they don't lament and therefore don't lament for the body so Theos we will take tomorrow it's very important shoka uh I will take two children are raising their hands I I'll let me just say one more thing see body is uh perishable uh body is is never alive and soul is ever alive that we understand okay that does not mean we kill the body so now we are spending a lot of time to understand how uh how body is temporary and soul is eternal so body is anyway temporary can I kill the body can I maintain slaughter houses can I kill animals uh anyways they're not bodies they're Souls I'm not killing their souls I'm only killing their bodies right so when can not unnecessarily kill people so a wrong and immature understanding of uh of the Soul's eternality and body's perishability is to commit undue violence towards other living beings right so we should not be violent towards other livings yes K is very enthusiastic to read thisa I can't see you suddenly read okay thank you K but we could not hear you very loudly but it's fine so we'll discuss tomorrow okay you have concluded the class today thank you very muchh we'll discuss the tomorrow any questions comments uh those who rais their hands just to recite shlokas and you don't have questions they can put on their hands so that I can unmute only those devotes who can ask questions loab as as usual a magnificent class for you uh so my question was and you know you can correct me correct my understanding is we know uh from scriptures that all the entities are an expansion of the Lord like uman is you know and different shies are there so now in the we know that we are also Eternal entities and one point of time uh uh this is where the the understanding gets a little sketchy right we existed in the Lord as part of his part so we say we are as part and Par we existed individually and then you know uh and then we uh manifested in the material world so how is this understanding distinguished between the impersonalist understanding of merging into Brahman okay see uh merging into Brahman imperson understanding is with a desire to lose one's individuality so what happens is in the case of some impersonalists they see a lot of variety in this world uh they see material forms material names material relationships material desires material interactions material miseries they get fed up with matter okay they get up they get fed up with this material variety so here there are forms the spiritual realm means no forms here there are relationships spiritual real means no relationships here there are interactions there no interactions like that they generate an opposite conception of the material realm and they imagine a conception of spiritual realm and here there individuality that creates a lot of difficulty to the individuals so let us give up this individuality that's what liberated state is that's what people Aspire for so for them see what is the opposite of absolute truth for vnas it is rela truth okay but for them Absolute opposite of absolute truth is absolute false brah whatever variety that we are seeing around us is m and sat should be noy okay that's how they generate an opposite conception n okay so they get fed up with the material variety and they want to embrace a place that doesn't have a variety so that's their attempt in terms of losing one's individuality okay and as far as vnav understanding is concerned uh here there are material forms in the spiritual World There Are Spiritual forms here there are material interactions there there will be spiritual activities here there are material relationships there there will be spiritual relationships in so there I don't lose my individuality there as an individual being I serve the Supreme individual in a loving relationship right face to face that's understanding ofas make sense yes you said the difference between the absolute truth the impersonalist take it as absolute truth and absolute false but the devor is you know the distinguisher as absolute truth and relative truth absolute truth is impersonal and uh this material realm which has lot of variety which seems to be personal is absolute false okay thank you next drana go Krishna pru G um if you could elaborate a bit on uh the gross body and the subtle body cross body is the physical body which we see like which we have right now I did not get any Clarity on subtle body it's written in Gita subini since it is indestructible when the gross body changes body Krishna describes in the sth chapter again so this is just a glimpse coming now but anyway now that you asked body constit of Mind intelligence and ego okay we have mind but it's so subtle that we can't see it definitely we have emotions we understand others also have emotions but we can't see them physically yeah simly intelligence and ego ego is our identities our designations and attachments and all that our sense of greatness so that is SLE body now when the gross body is destroyed means when a person dies yeah body goes gross body goes but the subtle body doesn't die that subtle body which is a storehouse of all desires and conceptions Impressions that will carry the soul to another gross body at the time of death if somebody has so many unfulfilled desires am I audible somebody has so many unfulfilled desires right so to pursue those UNF desires one has to take up another gross body and the subtle body same the same subtle body in this body will go to another gross body to pursue those desires and when will that subtle body we destroyed when we are liberated okay destroyed basically is spiritualized the Mind intelligence and ego become spiritualized okay the mind that's having material emotions will start having spiritual emotions for God for Krishna and the intelligence which is planning for sense enjoyment in this material world starts planning to Krishna and the ego that is identifying oneself as Indian American man woman brahmachari gria brah Etc starts identifying oneself as a servant of God right that's spiritualizing the ego and the SLE body spiritualized and no more cross body is there when we will get spiritual body in the spiritual okay M thank you then saan harrish so just extension to this question so if everything is stored in the mind so how come we say when SLE body goes into other body uh everything that is material all the knowledge that we have acquired we say that is destroyed but spiritual practices practices and whatever spirituality we have perform that is not destroyed so if everything is stored in mind how come one is destroyed B in the mind material Impressions and desires are stoled okay and when we pursue those material Desires in the later lives in the future lives but ultimately the material desires are temporary and their effects are also temporary when we say whatever little advancement in biti we have made is never lost the understanding there is that they go into our Eternal bank account and we will never lose the effects their spiritual effects right you may develop material knowledge and the effects of material knowledge will help us in the material realm for some time and they may even even carry forward to the next life also but they don't have any Eternal benefit upon the Soul on the living entity so whatever little advancement that we have made in bi and in spiritual path will remain with us forever will save us from the greatest danger but whatever material impression that we have stor Also may be there in later lives but they don't benefit the soul in any they will entangle the soul more and more in that sense make sense okay mad so two questions not exactly questions but some kind of little detailed understanding from you one is the pictoral diagram which you showed about the gross body subtle Body Soul and Super Soul so yes there are scriptural shlokas which say that like they describe the Lord as the soul of all the souls so is that what is me is that what is meant in that picture some else also we also may see that the description that the soul and Super Soul are side by side two entities one is the Supreme nor and supreme controller and one is the jivatma sitting on the same Branch so what is thect it's pictorially it's seen like that as if the soul is there Super Soul is there inside the soul basically soul both are there so they both are there within this gross and settle coverings of the body right they're like as you said two birds on the same uh same tree second question was see the description given that you know the weak heartedness of Arjuna you know because of that he is thinking of nonviolence that's what one of the slides said so uh however maybe you can throw little more light on this that somebody like Mahatma Gandhi he took up nonviolence and he actually convinced people to accept lot of misery and people were being beaten and still they were ready to face that beating and face every possible humiliation phys physically emotionally both and it appeared that they're very strong hearted and Gandhi was very strong hearted uh so little bit more on that okay so here weak hearted and strong hearted the usage of this terminologies have different contexts somebody may have strong hearted maybe Str strong hearted that could just indicate their determination or passion or sub barness also Indra was so determined to steal the hearts of puru although he was failing multiple times right that is stubborness you must say he's very determined determination can be used in the positive sense also but he there in the negative sense so strong-hearted he's very strong in his opinion or in his desire to go and steal the horse and interrupt the sacrifice so somebody May exhibit some strong heartedness or lot of Det determination and passion and stubbornness in achieving something material also right so to that degree we may give some kind of credit to them okay their strong heartedness but here in this bhagad Gita context the weak heartedness is basically as prop explains in the purport that uh like he is being compassionate compassion is a glorious quality but that compassion is on a bodily platform so in that sense there is some kind of weak heartedness which is described there right so make sense just wanted a little more clarity because basically what I what I understood from your answer is that there will be uh people who will be determined or stubborn with their views and even the wrong views they may you know push because of their so-called stron heartedness but that is not what is referred here in the Gita here it is different that's what I have understood thank you okay yes har Krishna pru uh pru um now one is uh first question I have is is how do I know uh the guru is so many gurus are there I mean so many people are there who preach but how what are the characteristics of the real Guru and reaching to Guru is not easy nowadays actually I mean uh it's very difficult when I have to gain that Clarity uh in decision making or whatever problem I'm suffering if I have to disc that uh how do I reach to the guru then um third question is how do I know who I am because whatever is happening to me is because of my past Karma uh how do I really understand what has led to this situation or what is my past who am I and my fourth question is uh uh yeah take one by one forget the questions yes recognizing a guru is concerned I think first two questions are based on Guru identifying Guru yes Guru is concern uh one thing is when we have that uh genuine desire to be connected to a guru spiritual Guru okay not not to learn something material but spiritual subject matter spiritual Guru spiritual master so when we have the genuine desire uh Krishna will identify that desire and he will arrange for our meeting with Guru okay D Maharaj wanted to Worship the Lord so he did not know that he has to approach a guru and something like that he just heard that whatever desire I have I should fulfill it by approaching a guru okay sorry by by worshiping the Supreme Lord so because he is determined to worship the Supreme lordship worship Vishnu Vishnu had sent nari to guidea okay so one thing is we have to explore ourselves definitely we need to understand that the qualities of Guru are that Guru is selfless Guru is himself so absorbed in in spiritual practices and he himself has lot of love for the Lord and He Speaks from the scriptures he doesn't con he doesn't have any selfish desires for sense enjoyment and all that various qualities are there but when we have a sincere longing to be connected to Guru Krishna also will reciprocate with the desire and then facilitate our connection with Guru right so blind that my past karmas are so bad sometimes I may not even recognize when the guru has come my way I mean uh I mean no there will be some kind of intuition and even if we sometimes fail to recognize sooner or later we will come if you are sincer Krishna ARR for that but we should be deligent and intelligent enough to understand the qualities of Guru from the bonafied scriptures right okay second question is about you answered because I think once you have that sincere desire Arrangement will happen Okay third one was yeah about Karma how do I know who I am why things happen the way they are happening or can I see somebody is in uh so College okay in a civil engineering department okay he just got admission in civil engineering department but he has desired to get into electronics and communication engineering okay but why did he end up there because of his scores okay in the past whatever plus one plus two so like just like someone's scores will decide uh which colle he may enter uh which which stream which engineering stream one may take admission into so the scores also matter right similarly our past activities uh make us end up in some kind of circumstances in certain with certain designations with certain facilities and Duty and family this and that right we may not be able to trace out what brought me to this situation and it may not not be important also okay so instead of finding out the cause of my current good or bad situation we can just utilize that particular situation for our spiritual realization and create a better future understood K yeah and my next question was uh will like uh when I'm cooking uh or even doing some activity the thought of God thought of Guru runs through the mind uh will thinking like this is passive thinking right it is not actually actively I'm seeking the spiritual growth or anything it is just happening or uh it is like a I mean it has become like a habit maybe so will that help me uh in the yeah unconsciously also if you just have some positive thoughts and trying to connect with God and Guru definitely that that that background processing will definitely be beneficial to us okay eventually that will bear fruits and one will actually connect with others connect with the right people thank you like I mean question from last time uh basically Dharma like Dharma is actually uh in from spiritual world like there is activities performed in spiritual world like there is family everything is there so those activities when get reflected in material world we have like Dharma where we focus on our inclinations but if we put that inclinations towards Krishna then it becomes like Dam like uh because we have this like what if Dharma is there and if it is against or maybe like compassion something or like when we have to go to devotional service sometimes we have to uh choose which one to go like uh mean what is the clarity on that is that the right understanding I didn't quite get what you're trying to ask uh it's not very clear to me the question is like Dharma basically is yes can you say that again Dharma is actually what we following Dharma is actually a reflection from spiritual world because everything is reflection what we do in spiritual world it's a reflection but here we are here we are inclined to our inclinations so we are trying to put our inclinations to act uh to satisfy in the way which is given as Krishna and other world is definitely a reflection of the spiritual world and spiritual world is the original prototype but there are certain paths or systems that are created to run the material world they may not be necessarily present in the spiritual world right it's not necessary that they have to be there there is B Yoga in the spiritual world but there's no Karm yoga there asang yoga it's not necessary that they have to be yog yoga K yoga in the spiritual World there yoga happening there but in the material world some systems may be created right so one thing is like uh we can make best use of our our facilities and our abilities to connect with Krishna to the best of our ability but actually sorry yes so actually like B Yoga includes Nana and but they are not for uh like mean still has knowledge but it's not inclined to get fruits of knowledge which is Liberation but we still use them in service of Krishna then it becomes right we see hi Krishna pru I'm AUD yes yes pru my question is that today we learned that our soul has been given the body which is temporary it is only for this birth this birth so uh is it our duty to give it respect and um maintain a healthy lifestyle like doing eating healthy and doing exercise or is it just a material Pursuit somehow I it's not very clear some because of Wi-Fi I didn't get some freees okay I will repeat my question so I said I I was asking that is it our duty to give this Bo I could not hear yes can you say that yeah so I was saying that is it our Dy to give this body respect and take care of it in the form of having a healthy lifestyle and doing little exercise yes it is very much need see I was saying right an immature application of our understanding of Eternal nature of soul and temporary nature of body uh should not uh make us neglectful towards body our body or others body we should maintain a healthy lifestyle we should eat healthy food we should take medicines when we become sick okay we should maintain the body we should clean the body we should dress the body we should do whatever is needful to maintain the body but we should not be attached to the body okay thank you har Krishna Krishna so you you say about the subtle body which is made of Mind ego and intelligence and then you said that uh the subtle body moves from one gross body to the other gross body and you also mentioned that we have to uh once the settle body's desire is fulfilled it is completely moved out so if that is the case uh say my settle body moves from one gross body to the other gross body and in the other gross body my desires are settled out so is that so that I get liberated in my next life when the subtle body doesn't have any more material Impressions and any more material desires connected to this material realm then and when has developed a genuine desire to be connected to Krishna to to know to be with Krishna in the spiritual realm definitely that's end of the material bodies gross are subtle okay gross body is no more there and subtle body becomes spiritualized right and we are in a spiritual body serving the lord that's Liberation correct yeah got it so it's not just uh fulfilling my desires but to get love with Krishna then only I get liberated it's not just my desires get fulfilled so I get Liberation basically transforming the desires from material to spiritual a liberated Soul also has desires a conditioned Soul also has desires but a conditioned Soul's desire is for sense and M material enjoyment and liberated Souls desire is to serve Krishna serve the Lord and seek enjoyment in service to the Lord yes thank you harna m we can't hear you m unable to hear yes M you can speak now yeah we can hear better having a question that you're saying a soul and SLE body gross body so my question is is it that soul is different from spiritual body or soul and spiritual body are one and the same see in the uh original uh position the realized and liberated State there is no difference between Body and Soul so in the spiritual realm there's no difference between Body and Soul here there's a soul inside the body but in the spiritual World entire body is spiritual okay there's no soul inside there's no Super Soul inside it's all one so there's no difference between body and soul in the liberated state so but in the condition State we are having only the soul you're not having a spiritual body inside this can spiritual body is not manifest yet there is Spirit soul but the spiritual form and the spiritual activity of that the form is not manifest in the material realm the whole process of Boga is to revive that spiritual nature of the soul mean spiritual activity of that soul soul is spiritual nature but that is not active spiritually here it's entangled material here okay thank you so much thank you then vishna G uh we understood uh gross body and sub body Orma okay but one more word I heard in lectures like or casual body so what is it that I want to understand from you sir casual body sh okay causal body kuh not sure I didn't hear this terminology like sukma I don't I don't want to speculate now when you say k probably that is that subtle body that causes the development of another gross body maybe I'm not sure I didn't hear those terminologies in our vnav scriptures commentaries the context in which that word is used okay thank you anandar I a yes pru my question is in related to one second I think I need to uh in relation to the other ma G's question other pru's question I guess that Liberation if we want to have it then we have to leave our desire or rather you say that we have to transfer our desire but to transfer our desire just like that without fulfilling it it's such a big task so how do we how do we make it expertized or how do we do it rather you know because generally they say whatever desire you haven't have fulfilled it it will come back if you will if you will uh you know make it subtle down or if you will just uh uh not fulfill it the way you want to fulfill it then for any reason if you will not fulfill it then it will get subsided for time being but it will come up so how do we transfer it what is the what is your opinion how do we do it can you give us the guidance transformation of our desires happen in the association of devotees when we associate with people who have pure desires to serve the Lord and serve Guru we also develop the Purity in our desire in our intentions in our activities in our habits so that will come in the later section of this chapter San K is desire s is Association so our desires are products of our association when we associate with bad people we develop bad desires somebody Associates with a drunker or smoker they desire to smoke and drink but someone Associates with know people who are doing Puja people who are worshiping the Lord and they develop that kind of desires right to transform our desires we should get good s basically our attitude matters attitude Association matters and in our relation to what desire we want to uh transform so doesn't have to be fulfilled materially not necessarily every desire has to be fulfilled if you work on the desire if you meditate on the desire if you are longing for the desire then we'll have to wait for the Fulfillment of the desire but some many times some desires keep coming why why this wrong desire is coming in my mind so let me just relinquish let me focus on Krishna right so sometimes even practicing devotees Also may get some unfavorable desires they go and pray to the Lord Krishna please remove these unfavorable desires right so the wrong aspirations and wrong desires can be transformed properly by prayers and by S okay thank you 68 now I'll take one more question one last question anel M Krishna pru U you just like um Arjuna was so persistent that I will not fight this will happen and I will not fight it will bring me Bad Karma and then what was the that uh what suddenly happened that he surrendered what suddenly happened that he had surrendered because he to decide by the time he reached 2.6 six schloka he became so indecisive till then he was giving some argument or other but he said I don't know whether conquering them or conquered by them is better I able to understand so he was quite confused and he said with my intelligence I cannot figure out this let me take shelter of Krishna and ultimately Krishna is manipulating his mind Krishna is making him speak all these questions so for example uh a doctor has come to a TV show and the interviewer is interviewing okay if somebody gets this disease what should he do if someone gets that disease okay what should we do to diabetes what should we do when there's some leg problem what should we do when there is hand problem eye problem neck problem not that the interviewer has all these diseases on behalf of the audience amongst whom there may be some patients the interviewer is asking this question to the doctor and the doctor is answering similarly Arjun himself is Great Soul he's already direct relationship with Krishna so Krishna has kept Arjuna in bewilderment and made him ask some questions relevant for the Common People relevant for the humanity so that Krishna could answer and give Enlightenment to all of us okay yes yes thank you thank you very we will others can mail me the questions we cannot take so many we already had 40 minutes clear the session so I think in the future sessions the questions can be answered as we progress the number of questions could become less also thank you tomorrow we'll meet again we'll continue from 13th chapter har Krishna
