GetYouTubeTranscript Study Smarter Scholarship
A $2,000 scholarship for a college student who learns from video. Write 500 words about it, email them to us, and we pick one winner.
- Award
- $2,000, one winner
- Deadline
- March 31, 2027 (11:59 pm US Eastern)
- Winner announced
- By April 30, 2027
- Cost to apply
- Nothing. No purchase or account needed.
Why we run it
Many students now learn from lectures, tutorials and explainers on YouTube. Reading the transcript is how a lot of them study, take notes and check a quote. We build a tool for that, and we want to put some money behind the people who learn this way.
Who can apply
- You are 18 or older and live in the United States.
- You are enrolled, or accepted and starting within the next 12 months, at an accredited US college or university (undergraduate or graduate, full or part time).
- You are not an employee of GetYouTubeTranscript or a relative of one.
How to apply
Email [email protected] before the deadline with the subject "Scholarship application" and include:
- Your full name, school, program and expected graduation year.
- An essay of up to 500 words: "Describe a time a video taught you something that changed how you study or work, and how you would use the $2,000."
- A short note proving enrollment (a student ID photo with the ID number hidden, or a line from your school portal). We ask the winner for full proof before paying.
How we choose the winner
Two people at GetYouTubeTranscript read every complete application with names removed from the essay. We score each essay out of 10 for clarity, honesty and how specific the story is. Spelling and grammar do not count against you. The highest score wins. A tie is broken by the lower application number. This is a judged contest, not a random draw.
Essays must be your own work. We may disqualify an essay that is copied or generated wholesale.
How the money is paid
We notify the winner by email by April 30, 2027 and publish the winner's first name, school and essay (with permission) on this page. The winner has 14 days to reply and confirm enrollment. If they do not, or are found ineligible, the next highest score wins. The $2,000 is paid to the winner's school account when the school accepts outside payments, otherwise directly to the winner by bank transfer.
Your data
We use your application only to judge the scholarship and contact you. We do not add you to a mailing list or sell your details. We delete every non-winning application within 90 days of announcing the winner. The winner's name, school and essay stay on this page only with their written permission.
Official rules
- No purchase necessary to apply or to win. Using GetYouTubeTranscript does not improve your chances.
- Sponsor: GetYouTubeTranscript ([email protected]).
- Void where prohibited. The winner is responsible for any taxes on the award.
- We may change the dates or cancel the scholarship only if it cannot be run as described, and we will post any change on this page.

Scholarship questions
Do I need to use GetYouTubeTranscript to apply?
No. You do not need an account or a purchase. The essay is about how you learn from video, with any tool or none.
Can I apply if I study part time or online?
Yes, if you are enrolled at an accredited US college or university.
I am under 18 or live outside the US. Can I apply?
Not this year. We would rather run a small rule set correctly than guess at other countries' contest laws.
Is a school or website listing this scholarship?
Schools and scholarship sites are welcome to list it. Email [email protected] for a logo, a short description or any detail you need. We do not ask for anything in return.
