YouTube Transcript Search FAQs

Can I search for a phrase, not just one word?

Yes. Type the whole phrase. It is found even when it runs across two caption lines.

Is the search case-sensitive?

No. "Stay Hungry" and "stay hungry" find the same places.

Does it work with auto-generated captions?

Yes. Any public video with captions works, including YouTube's automatic ones. Auto captions can spell names and jargon differently, so try a shorter word if a search finds nothing.

Can I search across all of YouTube?

Not here. This tool searches one video at a time. To search a whole channel, download its transcripts with the channel transcripts tool and search the file.

Is it free?

Yes. Getting a transcript is free, and searching it as many times as you like costs nothing.
