YouTube Playlist Length Calculator

Paste a playlist link to see how long it takes to watch, at normal speed or up to 2x, for the whole list or just the videos you have left.

Works with public and unlisted playlists up to 1,000 videos. Free, nothing to install.

How it works

  1. Copy the playlist link from YouTube (the URL with list= in it), or just the playlist ID.
  2. Paste it above and click Calculate length. The calculator reads every video's running time, the way a signed-out visitor sees the playlist.
  3. See the total at 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x. Change the From and To boxes to time only part of the playlist.
  4. Download the video list with every length as a CSV if you want to plan it in a spreadsheet.

How playback speed changes the total

Speed divides the time directly: 2x halves it and 1.5x takes two thirds. Here is what that means for common course and playlist sizes.

Planning a long playlist

  • Set From to the first video you haven't watched to see exactly how much time is left.
  • Divide the total by the minutes you can spare each day to get a finish date for a course.
  • Private, deleted and live videos have no running time. They stay in the list but don't count toward the total.
  • Lectures and tutorials are often easy to follow at 1.5x, which saves a third of the time.

No time to watch it all?

Skimming a transcript is often faster than watching, and you can search a whole course for one topic or paste it into ChatGPT. Pull a playlist's transcripts, or get an AI summary of a single video.

YouTube Playlist Length FAQs

How do I find the total length of a YouTube playlist?

YouTube doesn't show a playlist's total running time. Paste the playlist URL into the calculator above and it adds up every video's length, then shows the total at faster playback speeds too.

Does it work with unlisted or private playlists?

Public and unlisted playlists both work. A private playlist can only be read by its owner, so to use one here, change its visibility to Unlisted on YouTube first.

Why is a video left out of the total?

Private, deleted and live or upcoming videos have no running time in the playlist, so they are listed but not added to the total. The result says how many were left out.

Is there a limit on playlist size?

The calculator reads up to 1,000 videos. If a playlist is longer, the totals cover the first 1,000 and the result says so.

Can I calculate only part of a playlist?

Yes. After the result loads, set the From and To video numbers and every total updates instantly.

Is the playlist length calculator free?

Yes, it is free with nothing to install. There is a fair-use limit per connection to keep it fast for everyone.
