How it works
- Paste a YouTube video link, or describe your video in a sentence.
- Click Generate tags. With a link, we read the video's transcript so the tags match what is said in it.
- Copy all the tags at once, separated by commas and trimmed to YouTube's 500 character limit.
- Paste them into the Tags box under Show more in your video's details.
Why tags from the transcript work better
They match the video
Tags written from the transcript describe what is really in the video, not just its title.
Other phrasings covered
Includes other ways people search for the same thing, so the video matches more searches.
Fits YouTube's limit
The tag list stays under YouTube's 500 character limit, so it pastes in without trimming.

YouTube Tag Generator FAQs
Do YouTube tags still matter?
A little. YouTube says the title, thumbnail and description matter more, and tags mainly help with misspelled searches. They take seconds to add, so they are still worth filling in.
How many tags should I use?
Use as many relevant tags as fit in YouTube's 500 character limit. The generator gives up to 20, and Copy all only copies the ones that fit.
Is the tag generator free?
You sign in with Google, and new accounts get free credits. Each run uses one credit.
Can I use it before uploading my video?
Yes. Instead of a link, describe your video in a sentence or two and the tags are written from that.
What if my video has no captions?
The tool needs captions to read a video. If a video has none, describe it in a sentence instead.
