Transcript formats: questions
Which format should I pick?
Plain text or Markdown to read and quote, SRT or WebVTT to show subtitles on a video, CSV to analyse in a spreadsheet, JSON for code, and the ChatGPT, Claude or NotebookLM exports to hand a video to an AI assistant.
Do I have to fetch the transcript again to change format?
No. Each tool fetches the transcript once, and the format menu converts it in your browser, so switching between formats is instant.
Why are SRT, VTT and CSV sometimes unavailable?
They need the timing of each caption line. For some older transcripts we only have the text, so the tool offers the text formats instead.
