Whole channel → knowledge base
The answer exists, in minute 34 of a webinar nobody will rewatch. As text, the same archive is searchable by your team and readable by an AI assistant that can answer with a link to the moment.
What you get
- Every video on the channel as text with timestamps
- A notebook or index your team can ask questions
- Answers that link to the exact second in the video
With an AI assistant
Connect the MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, then paste:
List all videos on @ourchannel. Read the transcripts of the 20 most recent. Build me a FAQ of the questions they answer, each with a one-paragraph answer and a link to the moment in the video (https://youtu.be/ID?t=SECONDS).
With the API
Set GYT_API_KEY to a key from the developers page. Each transcript, list page or channel check costs one credit.
1. List every upload (follow continuation)
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $GYT_API_KEY" \ "https://getyoutubetranscript.com/api/v1/channel/videos?channel=@ourchannel"2. Fetch each transcript with timestamps
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $GYT_API_KEY" \ "https://getyoutubetranscript.com/api/v1/transcript?v=VIDEO_ID×tamps=true"
Limits to know
- Members-only and private videos cannot be read.
- Store transcripts once; re-fetching costs a credit each time.

Questions
Where should the knowledge base live?
For a quick start, upload the transcripts to NotebookLM or a Claude Project. For a product, index them with LangChain, LlamaIndex or Haystack.
