New uploads → summarized alerts
"Did they post this week?" should not need you to open YouTube. Checking a channel's latest uploads costs nothing, so a scheduled job can check every hour and only read the videos that are new.
What you get
- An alert within the hour of a new upload
- A 5-bullet summary and the video link
- No cost when nothing new was posted
With an AI assistant
Connect the MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, then paste:
With the API
Set GYT_API_KEY to a key from the developers page. Each transcript, list page or channel check costs one credit.
1. Check for new uploads on a schedule (1 credit per check)
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $GYT_API_KEY" \ "https://getyoutubetranscript.com/api/v1/channel/latest?channel=@veritasium"2. Read only videos you have not seen (1 credit each)
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $GYT_API_KEY" \ "https://getyoutubetranscript.com/api/v1/transcript?v=NEW_VIDEO_ID"
Limits to know
- YouTube's own RSS feeds have been unreliable lately, which is why this uses the API's latest-uploads check instead.

Questions
How do I run it without a server?
Use n8n, Zapier or Activepieces: a schedule trigger, the latest-uploads step, a filter for unseen IDs, the transcript step, an AI summary and a Slack or email step.
How often can I check?
Each check costs one credit and is rate-limited per key. Checking a channel daily is plenty for most uses (30 credits a month per channel); hourly checks add up fast.
