0:00 Guys, 0:02 it's D&D time. 0:04 It's It's D&D time. 0:07 I'm 0:08 I'm ready. Ruby is ready. I've been 0:10 playing some HermitCraft today as well. 0:13 My build is so good. I can't wait for 0:14 you to see it. And I'm so excited to 0:16 jump in to some more roleplay with my 0:19 friends. I've got my notebook ready. 0:21 Look at this. 0:22 It's creeper. It's a creeper notebook, 0:24 but it's kind of like It's kind of cool. 0:26 It's right, so it's It makes sense. And 0:29 I've got my D&D 0:30 >> E 0:30 handbook ready. 0:32 >> [snorts] 0:34 >> I'm excited. I'm ready. I'm ready for 0:36 some Dungeons and Dragons. I got to I 0:38 got to really think about Ruby. In the 0:40 last session, we did talk about Ruby's 0:43 backstory a little bit. And I clarified 0:45 this in a HermitCraft stream, but I 0:47 really didn't hear. Ruby's backstory 0:49 happened like recently, like within the 0:51 last month, like some of the others did 0:53 a back wrote a backstory that was like 0:55 from when they were kids, but I did not 0:56 do that. I wrote a backstory that's 0:58 like, "This is what happened right 1:01 before I met all of these other 1:03 adventurers in this tavern." Right? It's 1:06 It's a recent It was a recent event. Um 1:09 You can go back and watch the beginning 1:11 of last session. I really recommend it. 1:13 It was a fantastic session. I'm sure 1:15 this one will be, too. But I don't know 1:16 what's about to happen, so we'll see. 1:18 But yeah, I had I I feel like I should 1:20 probably clarify that. Thank you for all 1:22 the subs and hype, everybody. You guys 1:24 are the bestest. 1:26 The bestest ever. We're missing a 1:27 HermitCraft meeting for this D&D. 1:30 Whoops. 1:33 Our bad. 1:35 >> [laughter] 1:39 >> They're telling me you might still have 1:40 a chance with Amity. But what if she's 1:41 dead? 1:43 I have no idea. I have no idea. I didn't 1:45 write the ending. 1:47 I didn't 1:50 I didn't write it. 1:52 I left it I left it ambiguous. 1:54 Obviously, last session it ended in fire 1:56 because that was like the theme of the 1:57 episode, but it didn't actually end in 1:58 fire in the way that I wrote it. I left 2:00 it 2:02 I left it to Pix to to figure out how 2:06 that all wrapped up. 2:08 Um 2:10 let me get I think Pix is ready. 2:14 Hey, Pix. 2:16 Hi, Gem. 2:17 I'm excited. Mhm. It's feels like it's 2:21 been a long time coming, this one, but 2:22 it's worth the wait, always. 2:24 >> Worth the wait, for sure. Oh, yeah. 2:27 Can't wait for this one. Hey, welcome 2:30 back. Hello, hello. 2:33 I'm going to switch over to the the 2:34 screen that has all of your cameras. 2:37 Oh, that's a good idea. 2:38 Look at all these lovely people. 2:39 >> works. Scar is waving his wand around 2:42 already. Uh-huh. 2:44 Oh. 2:45 >> know why Scar is always pixelated for 2:47 me. 2:47 >> I'm pixelated for me. He's crystal clear 2:50 right now. Everyone's in in high 2:52 fidelity on my side, so I don't know why 2:55 Scar is always 2:55 >> crystals? 2:57 >> [laughter] 2:59 [snorts] 2:59 >> He made of crystals for Impulse right 3:01 now, which is the problem. Dude, I don't 3:03 know why. 3:05 How we all doing? 3:07 Oh. Good. 3:08 >> Chatting. Good chat. Chat is extending 3:09 so much love for Impulse for rocking the 3:11 beards and for Scar for rocking the 3:13 beards. Good beards, guys. [laughter] 3:16 I have so much hair in my mouth right 3:18 now. I don't I don't remember getting 3:19 this much hair in my mouth. 3:21 >> we got so much hair in our system. 3:23 >> but I live in Newfoundland, so it'll be 3:24 months. 3:25 Oh my goodness. [laughter] 3:27 Ruby's going to have horns for the 3:28 finale of 3:29 >> Yeah, it'll be a little while. So we got 3:31 to make sure Ruby stays alive. 3:33 >> [laughter] 3:33 >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. 3:34 >> Well, if I'll just I'll write a new 3:36 tiefling if he kills me. 3:38 >> [laughter] 3:39 >> We'll We'll have Ruby's sister that we 3:43 suddenly learn about pops up. Oh, Bro 3:46 Dude came so close. 3:46 >> She's definitely a giving only child 3:48 vibes. 3:49 >> [laughter] 3:50 >> All right. All right. Last session, Bro 3:52 Dude came so close. 3:54 >> You You were close, dude. I You better 3:57 roll better today. Kiss the dice or 3:59 something. I need I need you to roll 4:01 better. 4:02 >> The dice The dice are virtual. How do we 4:04 Yeah, I uh And I don't know. I don't 4:07 want Stawn Stawnrick to have to come 4:08 into play because, you know, he's he's 4:11 kind of a jerk. Yeah, we 4:13 >> [laughter] 4:14 >> We We We met that dude last time and uh 4:16 Stawnrick, the little man with the hat. 4:18 We like Bro Dude better. 4:20 Yeah, me, too. Me, too. 4:22 >> [laughter] 4:23 >> Bro Dude's backstory was awesome. 4:26 I like that you and Grian went into your 4:27 childhood and then me and Scar are like, 4:29 "When was this? Who knows?" [laughter] 4:34 Yeah, in in my in my head, like um it 4:37 got further and further away the more 4:40 um like the with each person. So like 4:42 Ruby's happened really recently, 4:44 uh Max when he was like 15, Bro Dude 4:47 when he was like seven, and then Mr. 4:49 Wizard, who knows? 4:51 >> [laughter] 4:53 >> Mr. Wizard doesn't even know. Yeah, the 4:55 mystery. The mystery is so good. 4:58 Mr. Wizard's favorite saying, "Who 5:00 knows? Who knows anything?" 5:03 I'm going to insight check you so much, 5:05 dude. Yeah. 5:07 >> [laughter] 5:08 >> I'm going to be insight checking Scar by 5:10 the end of this, I think. The best part 5:11 is I'm going to insight check him and 5:13 it's going to be like, "Well, are you 5:13 telling the truth?" And Scar is going to 5:15 be like, 5:16 Yeah, yeah. 5:17 >> [laughter] 5:17 >> And And I And I can't confirm or deny 5:19 anything. 5:22 >> [gasps] 5:24 >> I don't know. 5:27 >> Yeah, other than Grian who hates us. 5:29 >> Grian's Grian's still muted. He's 5:31 talking to his chat. But then someone 5:33 said he's talking to his chat. 5:34 >> He's talking to no one, and I'm like, 5:35 "Wait, did he forget to go live?" And 5:36 he's just literally talking to his 5:38 camera. 5:38 >> [laughter] 5:38 >> No one's there. No, I'm assuming he's 5:40 streaming. Oh, yeah. That would be 5:42 funny, though. He just forgot to hit 5:44 start stream. 5:44 >> wave at him. 5:46 Oh, man. That's not going to work. He 5:48 doesn't know how to 5:50 He's not going to look. Yeah. 5:53 I got my fan going. It's super hot here 5:55 in Arizona today. We have this crazy 5:57 heat wave. And so I got my fan blowing 5:59 on me and like the beard is just 6:00 [laughter] like flowing in the wind. 6:01 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I I feel like there is 6:04 actually a magic item, I think it's in 6:06 the the Dungeon Master's Guide called a 6:07 cloak of billowing, and all it does is 6:10 that you can command it to look cool for 6:12 like 10 minutes. 6:14 It's like it it looks like with one sort 6:17 of magic word it allows it to like look 6:19 like it's blowing in the wind. 6:24 Are we going to use Scar's or Mr. 6:26 Wizard's hoverboard today, please? Can 6:28 you please give us like a 6:29 >> to get doing his ritual for his cat. 6:32 Every session, I'm like trying to find a 6:34 reason to use a hoverboard, and we have 6:36 yet to use it. Come on. 6:38 >> I also have a cart that will appear at 6:40 some point in our campaign. Oh, I have 6:42 access to a cart. 6:44 I [laughter] 6:45 I literally managed to 6:48 um fat finger and exit out of 6:52 Edge there. So 6:55 Going to get your fan going. 6:56 >> It's our boomer. He's here. 6:59 >> [laughter] 7:00 >> Test. He has to be walked through the 7:02 streaming setup every week. 7:05 All right, we're here. 7:06 >> [laughter] 7:07 >> Yeah, we're doing it. Let's 7:08 >> We're there. We're there. 7:09 Oh, wonderful. Wonderful. 7:12 Oh, right. 7:14 Less bagpipes, please. 7:17 >> [laughter] 7:17 >> I can't I think you could turn the 7:19 bagpipes up. Can we have a recap, 7:21 please? 7:22 Yes, I was I was going to do a little a 7:24 little recap for everybody. So 7:27 Um welcome back, everyone, to Gigg's 7:28 D&D. This is session three. 7:30 Um if you missed the first two, VODs are 7:32 on YouTube. Uh session zero VOD is up 7:34 there as well for basically everybody. 7:36 I'm pretty sure it all got uploaded. Um 7:39 and uh welcome back, players. Um we're 7:41 going to have a quick chance to 7:42 introduce you and your characters. I 7:44 think we'll do it in reverse order to 7:46 how we've been doing it. So we're going 7:47 to start with Scar. 7:50 Introduce yourself and your character, 7:52 please. 7:53 I never go first. 7:55 >> [laughter] 7:55 >> Now you do. Oh, okay. Um Woohoo! Hello, 7:59 everybody. It's Mr. Wizard. A wizard, to 8:03 be sure. A wizard who knows nothing what 8:05 to say. Who knows anything? 8:09 Summed it up nicely. 8:10 >> [laughter] 8:10 >> My favorite Mr. Wizard 8:11 makes me laugh so hard. See, this is the 8:13 I'll get you. I'll I'll keep you on your 8:15 toes. This is how we do it. 8:17 >> [laughter] 8:19 >> I really don't want that to be the vibe, 8:21 but somehow 8:21 >> Scar is so hard. It It lands that way 8:24 every single time. All right, next up, 8:26 Impulse. 8:28 >> [laughter] 8:28 >> Oh, I think you mean my uh my name is 8:31 Bro Dude. Brohini Dude Stone at your 8:34 service. I am a dwarf fighter, and 8:36 recently got an upgrade. I'm on the 8:38 level two now, so you know, I'm even 8:40 buffer than I was first session, which 8:42 is nice. 8:44 Yes, Bro Dude ever getting more buff. Uh 8:46 speaking of that 8:47 >> every time. Love it. 8:49 Uh the other person backflipping onto 8:51 your screens currently is Grian, once 8:53 he's done cleaning his glasses. Yeah, 8:55 yeah, they're actually filthy, and I 8:56 don't know how. Um 8:58 I am playing Max Blender, who is a half 9:03 Goliath, half halfling, so he's a 9:05 normal-sized person. 9:07 And he loves doing backflips. I'm a 9:09 cleric, by the way. I heal people. 9:12 I've seen several people say that you 9:14 took the the thing of um when a minotaur 9:16 and a mermaid have a baby, and one of 9:17 them is like half bull, half fish, and 9:19 the other one is just a normal guy. 9:20 [laughter] And I'm like, "That's pretty 9:22 much absolutely the vibe." But yeah, one 9:25 of one of the more original character 9:26 origins we've had. And finally, Gem, 9:29 bring us home. 9:30 I'm playing Ruby. She's got a knife. 9:34 She's a rogue. Um a rogue tiefling. Oh, 9:38 I can see. And she's awesome. 9:40 There's something about every time she 9:42 holds that knife. That that weird smirk 9:44 you get just looks so devious. Well, 9:46 [laughter] it's cuz it is. 9:48 Yeah. I th- I think I think if if when 9:51 Gem's horns arrive, I want everybody 9:53 else to have weapons as well. So I feel 9:55 like Grian's Grian's going to have some 9:57 kind of mace. Impulse needs a two-headed 10:00 like great axe. I think Scar's already 10:02 got the wand, so I need a wand upgrade 10:04 is what I need. Yeah, yeah, you need 10:06 >> a better wand. 10:07 Need a wand upgrade and and a land 10:09 vehicle in the background somewhere. 10:11 >> [laughter] 10:11 >> I got I You know, I can actually make 10:13 that happen. I've got an eye on a sweet 10:14 tractor. Rick's just He's got a hard 10:17 bargain and I'm trying to I'm trying to 10:18 work him down. 10:21 So, to quickly remind everyone what's 10:22 happened in our story so far, our four 10:25 adventurers met in a tavern in the 10:27 village of Strawborn, where they were 10:29 sent on a quest by the tavernkeeper. 10:31 Although, they soon realized the 10:32 tavernkeeper had evil intent and the 10:35 errand they were sent on was helping 10:36 their host brew monsters in wine 10:38 barrels. The group took her down and 10:40 thus prevented the village from becoming 10:42 a hotbed of monster activity. 10:45 They then moved on to the town of 10:47 Nailbrook, where their first night's 10:49 sleep at the local inn led to dreams of 10:51 their past that became engulfed in 10:53 flames and the sound of horses' hooves. 10:56 They awoke to find that many others in 10:57 the town had had similar dreams and some 11:00 of them were exhibiting symptoms of 11:02 fever. After asking the healer and doing 11:04 a little research in the local archives, 11:06 our heroes went searching for the tomb 11:08 of a fabled knight who was buried with 11:10 his noble steed. There they discovered 11:12 the local folktales were true as they 11:15 encountered a nightmare, a dark horse 11:17 wreathed in flames and devilish 11:19 creatures emerging from the smoke it 11:21 left in its wake. 11:23 The group fought the nightmare with 11:24 assistance from the spirit of the horse 11:26 buried in the tomb and after defeating 11:29 it, they took down the coven of cultists 11:31 who had summoned the fiendish horse 11:32 using a magical ritual. Returning to the 11:35 town, they found the townsfolk fever has 11:38 cleared up and they settled in for a 11:40 good meal and a much less disturbed 11:42 night's sleep. And in an epilogue 11:44 unknown to our heroes, we saw the 11:46 nightmare returning to its home in the 11:48 nine hells, where a shadowy figure from 11:50 Ruby's past may be plotting against our 11:53 group of adventurers. 11:56 My bad. 11:57 >> [laughter] 11:58 >> And it's all Ruby's fault. 12:00 >> Can we run an ad? 12:02 Yeah, ads are running. 12:04 I had one Too late. Yeah, it Mine mine 12:07 got impatient and ran away 12:09 unfortunately. 12:10 >> Well, anyone who hasn't already run some 12:12 ads and we can all take a moment to 12:14 breathe. Stretch if you need to stretch. 12:17 Take a sip of your drinks and 12:19 >> We're off. 12:19 >> prepare to return to the world we are 12:22 creating together. 12:24 Yeah, take a sip. 12:25 >> My beard's too tight. Broth's in a 12:26 dragon mug. 12:28 >> [laughter] 12:30 >> Look, check behind the sofa. 12:35 Can't see him, can you? He's in there 12:37 somewhere. 12:42 There he is. 12:44 >> [laughter] 12:47 >> Is that Max Blunder or was that Max 12:48 Blunder the whole time? 12:50 How proficient is he though in doing 12:51 backflips? 12:55 Probably pretty proficient. 12:57 We'll never know. 12:59 Well, he told me once he left jean 13:00 stains on the wall cuz he was doing 13:01 handstands. 13:03 That's [laughter] right. 13:06 Why didn't he do a law? Yeah, he He 13:09 randomly came up to me on her and one 13:11 day and declared that. 13:13 >> [laughter] 13:15 >> He must have some really dark jeans as 13:17 well to be leaving stains. 13:20 Or really dirty jeans. 13:22 I could imagine him doing something 13:23 really out of pocket like that in a 13:24 group setting just doing a handstand 13:26 without 13:27 without being prompted or asked to at 13:29 all. 13:29 >> anyone first, yeah. Yeah. 13:32 All right. Uh let's get into 13:36 >> Do we need to switch to map or are we 13:37 good on this one? 13:39 Um we will switch to map in just a 13:41 second, I think. 13:42 >> Okay. 13:42 For now, some fresh music should be 13:45 playing. All right. 13:47 We map? We map? What are we doing? I'm 13:49 not listening. I wasn't listening. 13:50 >> [laughter] 13:51 >> Panic. 13:52 Stay here for now. I will let you know 13:53 when to switch to the map. 13:54 >> Okay. 13:56 It is morning in the town of Nailbrook 13:59 and the summer sun is already high in 14:01 the sky. The birds sing sweetly in the 14:04 trees and on the rooftops. A gentle 14:07 westerly breeze is blowing. 14:09 The fishermen by the river have been up 14:11 since dawn taking in the morning's 14:13 catch. The market traders are opening up 14:15 their stalls and everyone seems to have 14:17 had a much better night's sleep. 14:20 With that in mind, players, between 14:22 sessions, I've already taken the liberty 14:23 of giving each of your characters a long 14:25 rest. So, take a second to make sure 14:27 that your health is back up to full, you 14:29 have all of your spell slots, etc., etc. 14:33 I'll be honest, I don't know where my 14:34 guy's gone. 14:35 If you go to the actors panel on the 14:39 right-hand side, Click it. There he is. 14:42 You should be able to find Max Blunder 14:44 there in the players folder. 14:46 All right. And I'm going to switch us 14:49 over to 14:52 Uh 1 second. Where's it gone? 14:56 Ah, yes. 14:58 We're going to switch scenes and if 15:00 everyone wants to switch over to the map 15:02 view, 15:06 we'll be able to see 15:07 >> Mr. Wizard's bedroom. 15:09 where our story begins. 15:11 >> [laughter] 15:11 >> Hello, everybody. Woohoo. 15:14 We see the Cat's Tail Inn, where our 15:17 group of adventurers is once again 15:19 making their way downstairs for 15:20 breakfast, except for one. 15:23 Mr. Wizard has been up for an hour 15:26 already, magical thoughts filling his 15:28 brain as they so often do. 15:31 He has produced some chalk and drawn 15:33 magical symbols on the floorboards and a 15:36 bundle of incense is already beginning 15:38 to smolder in a small brass stand, no 15:41 doubt produced from his satchel of 15:43 trinkets. Mr. Wizard is, after many long 15:46 hours of magical guesswork and following 15:48 up on several hunches, casting the spell 15:52 find familiar. 15:54 What do we hear Mr. Wizard muttering 15:55 under his breath as he works on the 15:57 ritual? 16:00 Alakabam. 16:02 Alakawhoo. Hella. Find my old friend be 16:05 back. Ah, alas. 16:08 What is this 16:09 convoluted spell? 16:12 I've incensed this whole room and my 16:13 head is spinning now. 16:16 Mr. Wizard is 16:18 unfortunately forgotten his spells. Mhm. 16:21 And he's trying to remember how to cast 16:23 his familiar. 16:25 Bring his friend because he wants to 16:26 show and tell it with his other new 16:27 friends. Yes. 16:29 Um so, according to the description, 16:33 uh all you need to do with find familiar 16:35 is spend 1 hour casting this as a 16:38 ritual. Um you have to burn incense 16:41 worth 10 gold, which is consumed by the 16:43 spell. 16:44 And you gain the service of a familiar. 16:47 But, I wonder if there's anything else 16:48 you'd like to add to the ritual in terms 16:51 of flavor to invite this particular 16:53 familiar to appear. 16:55 Ah. 16:57 >> [sighs] 16:59 >> A treat. 17:01 I must prepare a treat. 17:03 I'm going to place a small treat in the 17:04 circle. Little snack, if you will. Mhm. 17:08 With that, 17:10 I start casting my wand in a swirling 17:12 pattern, knocking my hat off of my head, 17:14 choking on the incense. 17:18 And woo, 17:20 with that, 17:22 Downstairs. 17:24 The The There's this sort of faint smell 17:26 of incense kind of drifting down as 17:28 everybody begins 17:29 >> Everybody's getting woozy, by the way. 17:31 Um You all right up there? 17:34 I'm sorry. I'll open a window. I'll 17:35 crack it. 17:37 I can barely breathe down here. What's 17:39 going on, Mr. Wizard? 17:42 Uh Scar, if you'd like to open up your 17:45 character sheets, Yes. 17:47 head to the spells tab on the right-hand 17:49 side, 17:53 Uh let's see. Uh yep, spells. Yep, and 17:55 find familiar. And click on find 17:57 familiar. 17:58 And then just cast the spell. Yeah. 18:02 Okay. Okay. So, the way this is going to 18:05 look 18:06 is 18:07 uh it should give you an option of what 18:09 type of creature to summon. 18:11 Um 18:14 It It pops up with uh celestial, fey, or 18:17 fiend. 18:20 And if that's not popping up for you, 18:22 don't worry too much. I can do some of 18:24 this for you. 18:24 >> I'm in the find familiar tab with all of 18:27 the like characteristics of it, but 18:29 nothing to like click. It just says 18:31 refund resource. That's the only thing 18:33 it gives me an option. 18:34 >> Okay, that is fine. That is fine. I will 18:37 handle that from here in this case. Um 18:40 what kind of creature is Mr. Wizard's 18:43 familiar? 18:44 Cat. 18:46 All right. 18:49 So, as the spell completes, there is 18:52 this moment where you feel the power 18:54 coalesce. This feeling of creating a 18:57 niche in reality and magic flooding in 19:00 to fill the space. 19:02 And 19:03 nothing appears in the circle. The 19:06 ritual completes 19:08 and you are still alone in the room. 19:15 God gosh darn it, it didn't work again. 19:18 I need to burn more incense. 19:21 But then, as Mr. Wizard is contemplating 19:23 what might have gone wrong, 19:25 the breeze blows in through the open 19:27 window and you hear a faint meow from 19:30 behind you. 19:33 Oh, there we go. 19:36 What is that? 19:37 Oh. 19:38 >> You turn to see a cat 19:40 yawning I got it. and stretching its 19:43 paws out in front of it, briefly 19:45 extending its claws out. And then it 19:47 kind of shakes its head with little 19:48 flappy noise and hops down onto the beds 19:51 and then onto the floor into the magic 19:53 circle, and starts gobbling up the treat 19:56 you've left for it. 19:59 Hot dang, you're finally here, little 20:01 fellow. I must show you to my friends. 20:05 Uh one of Mr. Wizard's long arms sort of 20:07 like the hands kind of dangling low by 20:09 his sides. Uh the cat sort of sees this 20:11 and like raise up on its back legs and 20:13 tries to like nuzzle into your hand. 20:17 Aw, good to see you, my friend. It's 20:19 been a very very long time. 20:23 Come come come with me. I want to 20:25 introduce you to my friends. 20:27 Uh 20:27 while you're heading on downstairs, 20:29 please feel free to describe what this 20:31 cat looks like and what Mr. Wizard calls 20:33 his new companion. 20:36 Well, of course, we call her 20:38 Mrs. Cat and 20:40 >> [laughter] 20:45 >> Incredible. 20:47 >> It's right there. 20:49 >> [laughter] 20:50 >> Okay, I'm I'm making sure that Mrs. Cat 20:52 is under your control at this point. Um 20:56 so, you should now be able to move 20:58 >> is married. 21:00 Mrs. Cat around. 21:01 >> [laughter] 21:05 >> I have so much hair in my mouth. Okay. 21:07 Yes, Mrs. Cat. Come, Mrs. Cat. 21:14 Mrs. Cat. 21:16 >> [snorts] 21:18 >> All right. So, So, I can control Oh, I 21:20 can control Mrs. Cat now. You can, yeah. 21:24 What does Mrs. Cat look like? 21:27 The Mrs. Cat 21:30 has many different features. Mrs. Cat 21:32 has little tussles on the top of her 21:34 ears, like a wildcat, like a caracal. 21:38 Mrs. Cat 21:40 also peculiarly 21:42 peculiarly, its coat changes with the 21:45 cast of the light. 21:47 Mrs. Cat sometimes is a darker color, 21:49 and then with a turn is a little bit of 21:51 an orange tinge, just like a tiger eye 21:53 rock. 21:55 So, Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Cat does look a lot 21:57 like a tiger eye when you like turn the 21:59 rock around, and how it like changes 22:03 color with its fur. 22:04 I love that so much. That's incredible. 22:08 So, you You almost got like a like a 22:09 pearlescence to this cat. Yes, exactly. 22:12 And it it behaves otherwise like a 22:15 perfectly normal cat, but in terms of 22:17 the spell find familiar, you can 22:20 send it on little errands. It will 22:23 basically stay around until you dismiss 22:26 it, 22:26 or if it happens to take damage, it will 22:29 basically disappear, and you can 22:30 re-summon it later by casting the same 22:32 ritual. 22:34 And you can 22:35 Mrs. Cat could even go downstairs for 22:37 you and spy on your friends if you 22:38 wanted to, but 22:40 >> [music] 22:40 >> while it's within 100 ft of you, you can 22:43 see through Mrs. Cat's eyes and ears, 22:47 and she can 22:48 communicate with you telepathically, 22:50 although I imagine that happens in a 22:51 series of meows. 22:53 We can decide later whether she has like 22:55 a voice or if Yeah, I'm I'm saying that 22:58 I'm probably going to say this cat was I 23:00 didn't think about it ahead of time at 23:01 Really? Really? Are you telling me Mrs. 23:04 Cat wasn't planned, SCOTT? [laughter] 23:06 NO. 23:11 NO WAY. 23:12 >> [laughter] 23:16 >> I'VE BEEN A BIT OF A BIT OF disposed 23:18 lately. I haven't had a lot of 23:19 >> [laughter] 23:20 >> Did a little improv action here. It's 23:22 great. 23:23 >> the idea of like a tiger eye rock, like 23:25 if that's the way the coat of a cat 23:27 Yeah, no, that's that's perfect. That's 23:29 perfect. All right. 23:30 >> Excuse me, Mrs. Cat. I 23:32 I will feed you when 23:33 you get food. 23:35 You're not married to the cat though. 23:37 You're not Mr. and Mrs. 23:39 >> [laughter] 23:40 >> No, because then she'd be Mrs. Wizard, 23:42 surely. Oh, yeah. Yes, exactly. 23:44 >> [laughter] 23:46 >> All right. 23:47 So, Mr. Wizard's at last after an hour 23:50 of sort of you've heard that the rest of 23:52 you have heard the the stomping around 23:54 upstairs and the sort of various 23:57 sounds Mr. Wizard has been making while 23:58 he tries to conjure this cat for the 24:01 ritual, but at last, accompanied by a 24:03 cat, Mr. Wizard makes his way 24:05 downstairs. 24:08 I've also been clawed by the cat, and 24:09 I'm bandaging my arm. 24:11 >> [laughter] 24:13 >> Which actually is really funny. 24:14 >> hilarious cuz you control the cat. 24:17 Yeah. 24:18 Oh, Mr. Blubber. 24:21 They control themselves. We can only 24:23 apply requests to a cat. 24:28 Who's the cat? 24:30 Oh, it's Mrs. Cat. 24:33 How'd you get a cat? 24:35 Oh, 24:36 did you smell those incense? 24:39 You summoned a cat? 24:41 Of course, I summoned a cat. The cat's 24:42 been been off and on an adventure. I had 24:45 to summon her back. 24:47 You couldn't have done that yesterday? 24:50 I've never seen a cat in my life. 24:52 Explain to me, what is this creature? 24:53 What does it do? What? Mrs. Cat looks at 24:58 the little man and takes a step back. 25:01 She has never seen a dwarf either. Wait 25:03 wait wait wait wait. You're You're a 25:04 wizard, right? And you can cast 25:07 fireballs and all sorts of things, and 25:09 you used your magical powers to summon a 25:12 cat. 25:14 Of course, it's a delightful companion, 25:16 and a companion that takes care of 25:17 themselves, unlike other creatures you 25:19 have to feed. 25:20 >> [laughter] 25:20 >> Can I pet the cat? 25:22 Do you control the cat? 25:23 >> Yes, you can. 25:26 I would like to pet the 25:26 >> I can apply requests. I can request the 25:29 cat to do something, but one can never 25:31 tell a kitty cat what to do. Just just 25:34 to clarify, cuz I don't want things to 25:36 get weird. If I scratch the the cat, I'm 25:39 not scratching you. 25:43 Do you feel it if I scratch the cat? I'm 25:45 going to like scratch the underside. Do 25:47 you feel this? 25:47 >> there is there is a slight tingle on the 25:49 back of my neck, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE 25:51 >> I I I'M NOT 25:52 I'M NOT TOUCHING THE CAT. 25:53 I'M NOT TOUCHING THE CAT. 25:57 I'll have to see how this is going to 25:58 help us. 26:02 Can the cat do a backflip? 26:05 Travis, make it do a backflip. 26:08 Mrs. Cat, would you prefer to do 26:11 a backflip? 26:13 And with a gentle nod, the cat has 26:15 agreed to do a backflip. 26:17 All right, I'm going to roll this cat's 26:18 dexterity. 26:20 >> [laughter] 26:21 >> Which is surely good. It's cat. There's 26:23 no way it's doing a better backflip than 26:24 us Max. Mrs. Cat has a plus two to 26:27 dexterity. 26:29 Yeah, that makes sense. 26:33 And she gets a 17. 26:36 That's a pretty good backflip. Uh so, 26:38 Mrs. Cat is is I think I think just kind 26:42 of lazily executes a backflip from the 26:45 table to the bar, where Hal, the 26:48 innkeeper, who's looking much more 26:49 lively than he was yesterday, is 26:51 bringing around some fried potatoes as 26:53 this cat sort of somersaults back from 26:56 the bar to the table. Uh 26:58 We're not having that. 26:59 >> That's the cutest cat ever was. I'm 27:01 keeping it. I'm keeping it. I'm keeping 27:01 it. I'm keeping it. 27:04 There's no way I'm being shown up by a 27:05 cat. 27:08 Here we go. Come on, Max. John has done. 27:14 Oh, dear. [laughter] 27:17 And with a seven, Max Blunder, having 27:19 having not yet had his breakfast, 27:22 is unfortunately able to execute the 27:24 most perfect of backflips. I think at 27:26 this point, 27:27 a a seven means you you backflip, but 27:30 you don't do it in a way that anyone 27:31 would remember. It's too cramped in 27:33 here. I can't work under these 27:35 conditions. 27:36 I haven't had enough pints to do any 27:37 backflips yet today. Sorry. Uh here you 27:40 are, Mr. Dude Stone. And Hal drops the 27:42 first pint of the day in front of Bro. 27:43 Ah, there we go. That's much better. 27:45 Thank you. Uh he's he's sort of serving 27:48 the other inhabitant of the inn, who's 27:50 the musician that you met in session 27:51 two. Um he's bringing her some like 27:54 smoked fish that were caught the day 27:55 before and some fresh tomatoes and 27:57 mushrooms. There is this pleasant smell 27:59 of food wafting through the room, and he 28:02 pours her a cup of green tea from a 28:03 little iron pot, and then 28:05 bustles over to your table. Good 28:07 morning. I see Mr. Wizard has joined us. 28:10 Lovely to see you all. 28:12 Can I bring you some tea, perhaps a spot 28:14 of breakfast? 28:16 Tea. Tea would be lovely. 28:19 No way. pot on of the fire. Did did 28:22 Did you say you ran out of eggs? Yes, 28:25 unfortunately, Mr. Blunder. Much as I 28:27 appreciate your custom, I'm afraid 28:28 yesterday's breakfast has somewhat 28:30 depleted my stock of eggs. Uh and in 28:32 fact 28:32 >> I think I I think I've still got one. 28:35 I'll 28:35 >> [laughter] 28:35 >> take whatever I've got. 28:37 I'll start peeling the hard-boiled egg. 28:39 That may well be the last egg in the 28:40 entire town. I believe the eggs of the 28:42 entire street market were depleted as 28:44 well. 28:44 >> Right. In In which case, I will have one 28:47 plate of a giant plate of mashed potato. 28:50 Right you are. Mashed potatoes coming 28:52 right up. 28:53 And what can I get for you? 28:54 >> own heart. A good potato can go a long 28:56 ways. 28:59 Potato is good. 29:00 >> plate of meat. Any meat you have is And 29:02 I'll take an all all all palmer. 29:05 Who's an all palmer? Not familiar with 29:07 that particular 29:08 >> a different realm. It's from a different 29:10 realm. I'll take a tea with a squirt of 29:11 lemon. 29:13 All right you are. I think we have some 29:15 fresh lemons somewhere. I'll see what I 29:17 can rustle up. 29:18 And yeah, he bustles off behind the bar 29:21 and 29:22 gets to mashing some potatoes. He brings 29:24 some tea for Ruby, 29:26 again from this little iron pot that 29:28 goes above the fire to steep, and then 29:30 yeah, comes back with 29:33 a a 29:34 decent sort of breakfast steak for 29:36 Brehonni Dude Stone, a heaping pile of 29:39 mashed potatoes for Max Blunder. 29:44 >> [snorts] 29:45 >> You guys require an ottoman of food. 29:47 That's that's a lot of food. Does 29:49 anybody want some of this buttery 29:51 goodness? Oh, I do. Let me get my wand 29:54 in there. 29:55 Steak and potatoes? Sounds like a good 29:57 combo to me. 29:58 >> my mashed potato with that thing, and 30:00 that cat's going out the window. Don't 30:02 threaten the cat. 30:04 Oh, excuse me. 30:05 >> He is the cat. THE CAT IS HIM. 30:07 >> NO, THAT'S NOT IT. IT'S INNOCENT KIDS, 30:09 MRS. CAT. MRS. Cat narrows her eyes at 30:12 Max Blunder. Come here, kitty. I 30:15 >> [laughter] 30:15 >> I'm I'm just petting the kitty. 30:17 >> [snorts] 30:18 >> I I slap 30:20 Mr. Wizard's 30:21 wand out of his hand, and then scoop up 30:23 the mash with my hand, and just start 30:25 piling it up. 30:25 >> Ew. 30:26 >> [laughter] 30:26 >> Yeah, cuz that's better. 30:29 I'll have you know that I enjoy a clean 30:32 environment, and this wand is very 30:34 clean. 30:37 I don't know where you put that thing. 30:41 I have a bad feeling about this cat. 30:45 Have you never witnessed the companion 30:47 of a cat, Mr. Wizard? 30:49 >> No, I have not. I still to see why this 30:51 is helpful at all. 30:52 >> afraid of cats? 30:54 No. Maybe. 30:55 >> I think he may be afraid of a kitty. 30:56 >> He's afraid of cats. He's afraid of a 30:59 kitty. 31:00 Makes my beard itchy. 31:03 He's a little 31:03 >> Oh, I'm sure it does. 31:05 Haldane, keeper comes back around with a 31:07 plate of food for Mr. Wizard, and gives 31:09 Mrs. Cat a gentle pat, and says, "Ah, 31:11 you don't need to be afraid of cats, Mr. 31:12 Dudestone. They're quite lovely company. 31:15 They're good luck in some places, I 31:16 hear." 31:18 All right, we'll see. I'll give it a 31:19 chance. 31:21 Just don't cross her. 31:25 After all, you're staying at the Cat's 31:26 Tail Inn. I mean, 31:28 what more do you need? 31:30 That's true. 31:32 I proceed to eat my mashed potatoes 31:36 >> with my wand, and it's getting all over 31:38 my beard. 31:40 Oh. Max, can we go shopping today? 31:43 >> Can we do that? I'd love to go shopping. 31:46 I'm not going to lie. Let me finish my 31:47 mash. 31:49 Max, will you be paying for our wares 31:51 today? 31:51 >> Well, he better be, cuz I paid for the 31:52 adventure yesterday. 31:54 >> My my coffers are empty, I'm afraid. Oh, 31:57 I highly doubt that, Max. You're 31:58 definitely the richest one of us. Look 32:00 at his pocket. 32:02 I could look in his pocket, but I know 32:05 he's lying already, so I don't need to. 32:09 Well, somebody needs to pay. 32:12 All done. 32:15 Chug down some whatever grog is in front 32:18 of me, and then stand up, squeaky chair. 32:21 Shopping time. Let's hope that they've 32:23 got something good to buy. 32:25 Before you guys head out the door, Hal 32:28 sees that you're stepping out for the 32:29 day, and says, "Oh, I mean, if you're If 32:32 you're about your leisure today in the 32:34 town, 32:35 I I've 32:36 Honestly, I I've 32:38 heard a few rumors lately that 32:41 Although these are local tales, you 32:42 understand, but I was thinking about the 32:44 the egg situation. And if if local tales 32:47 are to be believed, there are some 32:49 pretty spectacular wildfowl to be found 32:51 in the hills north of town. 32:53 I remember another party of adventurers 32:54 came this way, and one of them went into 32:56 the wilds alone, and came back with a 32:58 huge egg. A single egg, mind you, but it 33:01 made an omelet fit for a king. It'd be 33:02 quite the event to make a breakfast like 33:04 that again. I'm assuming that you're 33:07 shipping out with the rest of the 33:08 caravan headed for Myth Reach tomorrow. 33:11 Magic egg. 33:13 Well, it might be magical for all I 33:14 know. Certainly made a decent omelet. 33:16 >> A caravan? 33:18 To To Myth Reach? Tell me more more 33:20 about these eggs. Why are you stuck on 33:23 the eggs? 33:25 Well, I'll tell you about the eggs 33:26 first, but I I I I have to say I confess 33:29 to know very little. They're 33:31 giant and blue, perhaps the size of 33:33 maybe a 33:35 20 eggs or more in a single shell. Quite 33:38 remarkable stuff. 33:39 There was a group of adventurers came 33:41 through a little while ago. It must have 33:43 been 33:44 >> [sighs] 33:44 >> I don't know, 3 months, maybe, but I 33:47 expect the the creatures are still 33:49 there. They They lay some prodigious 33:51 eggs up there in the hills. I won't lie 33:54 to you, group squad. 33:56 We have a new top priority, and it's a 33:58 giant egg. 34:00 I think 34:00 >> I thought we were going to go shopping. 34:02 Shopping first. 34:03 >> Under your coin. 34:04 >> On the way. On the way. 34:06 >> we There's plenty of shopping to be had 34:09 in the town. And I mentioned, yes, you 34:12 seem to be curious about the the group 34:14 that was leaving town. Myth Reach Hill 34:17 holds a summer tournament 34:19 midsummer every year. Adventurers of 34:21 your type often travel for it. I'm sorry 34:23 if I was presuming too much, but I I I 34:25 thought that you might be headed in that 34:26 direction. 34:28 The caravan is leaving bright and early 34:29 tomorrow morning, and they often pay 34:31 well for company and protection on the 34:33 road from adventurers like you. So, they 34:36 might not even charge you to, you know, 34:38 ride the horses a little bit. They 34:40 might, you know, effectively pay your 34:41 way there. 34:43 Protection, you say? 34:45 >> be our next job. We got We all want an 34:48 adventure, right? Everybody's 34:49 adventuring? 34:50 >> What if we hatched the egg Oh my god. 34:53 >> our own farm? 34:55 If we got enough eggs, and bred these 34:58 giant chickens, 35:01 we could become the biggest egg 35:03 merchants in the land. Max, are these 35:05 >> I love 35:06 it. 35:10 Okay, I'm in. 35:12 Egg. 35:14 I know a great man that can help us with 35:16 a chicken coop. 35:20 You have a chicken coop guy? 35:22 I got a chicken coop guy. 35:23 >> What's his name? 35:26 The caravan leaves tomorrow, so why 35:29 don't we go fetch an egg, do some 35:31 shopping, and then toddle off to find 35:34 somewhere to to hatch these things. 35:36 Brilliant. Chicken man's house. Love it. 35:39 Okay. 35:42 All right. So, with that, the group 35:44 steps out into the streets, and this is 35:47 much the same as before. You guys can 35:48 move around at your leisure. 35:50 You can drag your tokens around where 35:52 you will. Scar, you obviously have the 35:54 option to control Mrs. Cat as well. 35:58 Let's head to the store. 36:01 Where is everybody headed? What are you 36:02 guys out to buy? 36:04 Blacksmith. 36:08 Let's just see what they have to offer 36:10 first. 36:13 So, where should we go? 36:15 General Store? 36:16 Yeah. 36:18 Bro can go to the blacksmith separately 36:20 if he wants. This is uh Yeah, I'm going 36:22 to go do a little perusing. Feel free to 36:24 join me, if you want. 36:27 You guys can can meet up with Bro later. 36:29 So, at the general store, 36:32 is a robust-looking building with a 36:34 market awning on the outside. There are 36:36 a few dried ingredients in barrels, and 36:38 inside you find shelves stocked with 36:40 various practical supplies for 36:42 adventurers and townsfolk alike. In 36:46 world terms, these are lengths of rope 36:48 and chain, blankets, parchment, lamp 36:50 oil. There are jars of various 36:53 alchemical catalysts and ingredients 36:55 that wizards might use for spell 36:56 casting, etc., etc. 36:58 In game terms, if you want to open up 37:00 your books, you could reasonably expect 37:02 to find anything from the adventuring 37:04 gear list that appears on page 223 of 37:08 the Player's Handbook. 37:10 >> book pages for us. Yes. [laughter] 37:13 And while 37:15 While you're looking at that, it's not 37:17 off the top of my head. I have it 37:18 written down. 37:18 >> [laughter] 37:20 >> Trust me, I'm not that encyclopedic 37:21 about D&D. But 37:24 while while you guys are having a peruse 37:26 of the goods at the general store, maybe 37:29 we can go over to the blacksmith, and we 37:30 can see a little more of Brohini 37:32 Dudestone. 37:35 And for that, we can actually go over to 37:38 a different scene, if you'll bear with 37:40 me 1 second. 37:41 >> Mrs. Cat, go keep an eye on Mr. 37:44 Bro. 37:46 So, I have set this up, so hopefully 37:49 everybody should be able to see Bro's 37:51 character token on the screen, now that 37:54 I've changed the scene for everybody. 37:55 So, is that showing up for you guys? 37:58 Not loaded yet. There it goes. 38:00 Got it. 38:03 All right. 38:05 So, as Bro heads into the blacksmith, 38:09 you see a plume of smoke rising from the 38:11 chimney above the blacksmith, but it 38:13 looks a little different to yesterday. 38:15 Yesterday was a billowing black cloud, 38:18 and now it's more of a calm, hazy gray. 38:21 The inside of the forge is sweltering 38:23 hot, and as you enter, you startle a 38:25 human boy, who's no older than 16 by the 38:28 look of him. He helps, and loosens his 38:30 grip on some pliers he's using to hold 38:32 an item in the flames of the forge. And 38:34 opposite him, the dwarf blacksmith, 38:36 cries out in frustration, and her hand 38:38 darts into the forge, pulling back a 38:40 piece of heated metal held between thumb 38:42 and forefinger. She thrusts it back 38:45 between the pliers, and clamps her other 38:47 hand over the handles. Says, "Careful, 38:49 Robert. Whoever a customer we'll sell 38:51 to, we'll lose another piece." 38:53 And she shakes off her hand, but you can 38:55 tell that this red-hot metal barely 38:57 bothered her as she touched it. 38:59 And then she turns, seeing Brohini 39:01 Dudestone, and says, "Ah, a customer. 39:04 Welcome to my humble shop. Blythe 39:06 Goldbarrow, at your service. What can a 39:07 smith do for you today?" 39:09 Ah, I didn't mean to startle the boy. 39:12 That's very impressive work you do here. 39:14 I am just curious to see what you all 39:17 are forging up in here, because I've 39:20 come in search for unique weapons, if 39:23 you will. And I I I've seen, you know, 39:27 the normal things, obviously, hand axes 39:29 and swords [music] and that. But they 39:31 wouldn't, per chance, have anything 39:34 unique that maybe not everyone has seen 39:37 in their passings, would you? 39:39 As you ask this, I want you to make a 39:41 perception check for me. 39:44 Okay. 39:48 I forget how to do that. Uh 39:51 Head to your character sheet in the list 39:53 of skills, perception is just under 39:55 halfway down. 39:56 And if you shift click, it'll just roll 39:58 it without the four times everything. 40:00 Yeah. 40:00 >> Okay. 40:03 Oh. 40:04 Oh, [laughter] that's 40:05 that's unfortunate, yeah. 40:07 Um Oh, again. 40:09 >> [laughter] 40:10 >> Uh so 40:10 >> takes advantage of him and steals his 40:12 heart. It's two for those who can't see. 40:15 [laughter] 40:15 Yes. Yeah, yeah, please please do uh 40:17 call out the numbers on these rolls. 40:18 Call out the numbers. It'll be helpful 40:20 for people. Um so uh yeah, I I think 40:22 you're so focused on the forge area with 40:25 all of the smoke sort of rising up and 40:27 the uh just having startled this young 40:29 lad that um the uh the shopkeeper sort 40:33 of 40:34 directs you over to the uh what to you 40:37 is the left-hand half of of the store as 40:39 you're facing it towards this counter, 40:41 where there are clearly a bunch of 40:42 weapons and armor and things on display. 40:45 And she says, 40:46 "Well, if it's weapons you're after, 40:48 take your pick. There's plenty of stuff 40:50 here." And she kind of comes out around 40:51 the uh the counter and says, "Uh 40:54 well, yeah, no, there's uh there's 40:55 there's a lot of stuff here. I think a 40:56 lot of it you'd find fairly ordinary in 40:59 terms of um you know, weaponry and the 41:01 like. I expect you've seen plenty 41:02 similar on your travels. I do of course 41:05 specialize in things of dwarven make, 41:07 but uh you know, as a as a kinsman 41:09 yourself, no doubt that you'd probably 41:11 uh understand this stuff just as well as 41:13 I do." 41:15 It is an impressive assortment, but as 41:17 you say, fairly common in my passings. 41:21 And uh 41:22 >> Not in the not market necessarily for 41:24 things I've already seen, if you get to 41:26 my drift. Yes. And as you're perusing uh 41:31 the the wares here, um you hear the shop 41:34 door move. And uh uh 41:38 you you um 41:39 you sort of turn to to see the the the 41:42 source of the sound, and there's this 41:43 this tall human uh stepping across the 41:46 threshold. Um he's a middle-aged man 41:48 with a a a chain shirt and a uh 41:52 suit of plate armor over the top. Has a 41:54 sort of rough stubble and this messy mop 41:56 of dark brown hair. And uh you know, 41:58 barely noticing that you're in the shop 41:59 at all, he says, "Uh good morning, Miss 42:01 Goldbarrow. I've a sword that needs 42:03 sharpening." 42:04 And uh as he steps a little further into 42:07 the room, he sees the two of you amid 42:09 conversation. And sort of "Oh, oh, my my 42:11 apologies. I'm interrupting you with the 42:13 kinsman. Should I come back later?" 42:15 And uh Blythe, the blacksmith, is 42:17 already sort of heading over towards 42:19 him, stepping around the uh the the rack 42:21 of weaponry, and says, "Uh oh, not if 42:23 you've got work for me now, Sir Alwyn. 42:25 We're just talking shop." 42:26 Uh and the knight sort of steps in uh 42:29 seeing Bro-Dude and says, "Oh, 42:32 wonderful. So, you're you're a smith, 42:33 too, then?" 42:35 It's ad time. Sorry. 42:38 It is ad time. 42:39 >> going [clears throat] to say It must be 42:40 other people's ad time if it's my ad 42:42 time. All right. Mine's just rolled. 42:45 We will we'll leave them on a 42:46 cliffhanger. Just for a second. 42:49 I keep thinking the blacksmith is going 42:51 to swing on impulse. 42:53 >> [laughter] 42:54 >> It pays for the show. 42:56 Yes. And uh in the in the meantime, 42:58 while people are uh 43:01 while people are um 43:04 seeing the ads, I will be able to show 43:06 you guys another little handout I have 43:10 for this guy. 43:12 Uh I'm looking at all the things but 43:15 >> um when looking at this adventuring 43:16 gear, how do we know what's in a uh 43:22 I don't know. Uh Healer's kit. 43:24 >> Turn the page. 43:28 Cool. 43:29 >> [laughter] 43:33 >> Sounds good. It's my favorite bit of 43:34 instruction to give, really. 43:36 >> [laughter] 43:37 >> You would have to keep reading. 43:41 Can I put the net over people? 43:43 Uh certainly something you could try. 43:45 Yeah. 43:45 >> Oh, look at this. Art. 43:48 Yes. Uh thank you so much to Duty has 43:50 been working on some really really cool 43:53 stuff for this session. Um so uh yes. Um 43:57 they're uh @kitsuneisai 43:59 uh wherever you can find them. So, 44:01 >> Good. 44:02 a fantastic piece of art for this uh as 44:05 yet unknown str- unnamed stranger, 44:07 although uh I think the the blacksmith 44:09 may have mentioned his name. 44:11 Uh 44:15 Any other questions about the 44:17 adventuring gear before we continue with 44:18 this scene? 44:20 Uh no. All good. I'd like to buy a hat 44:23 for my cat. It's not [laughter] us yet. 44:25 >> god. 44:27 Later. We can definitely 44:28 >> a hat. I'm looking 44:29 >> We can definitely get you a cat hat, 44:30 yes. Um 44:32 >> [laughter] 44:33 >> But yes. 44:35 Uh 44:37 So uh yeah, this this uh knight who's 44:39 just walked in has assumed that Brohiny 44:42 dude stone is a smith. He says, "Oh, so 44:44 you're you're a smith, too, then?" 44:47 Well, I I I don't I don't work here, if 44:49 that's what you're implying, but uh I 44:51 have been known to dabble in some 44:54 smithery. 44:56 Oh, good heavens, you're a a renaissance 44:58 man. Um although now I'm seeing those 45:01 finely honed arms and thinking, yes, 45:03 you're probably something of a fighter, 45:04 are you not? 45:06 Uh that I did, I am. I I do enjoy 45:09 swinging an axe from time to time. Mm, 45:11 and quite a mighty axe it is. Um Uh 45:13 sorry, I I very rude of me. Sir Alwyn 45:16 Faraday. Um but the sir is entirely 45:19 optional, I assure you. Uh that honor 45:21 was earned a long time ago and has long 45:23 since been spent. 45:24 Uh these days I mostly train the town 45:26 guard, uh the gate watch and the like. 45:28 Um you happen to be looking for work? 45:31 Well, I mean, not necessarily. My party 45:34 is uh is uh out for looking for 45:37 adventure, uh if you will. And 45:40 uh we we actually are planning on 45:42 leaving tomorrow on an adventure 45:44 ourselves. Oh, you um headed to Myth 45:47 Reach, perhaps, for the tournament? 45:49 Myth Reach? 45:51 Mm. 45:53 Yeah, they 45:54 >> I didn't pay attention to the 45:55 conversation. I was just going to tag 45:57 along. 45:58 >> [laughter] 45:58 >> Yes, no, I've had conversations like 46:00 that myself. Uh such things are mere 46:02 details to folk like you and I. And uh 46:06 you know, I I was headed that way 46:07 myself, actually. Um my business here in 46:09 town is mostly concluded, and they give 46:11 me a little time to go and stretch my 46:12 legs. Um 46:14 Speaking of which, um I confess it has 46:16 been a while since I had a real test of 46:18 my metal. I don't suppose you'd be 46:20 interested in perhaps sparring? 46:22 Oh, I'm always up for a good fight. Mm, 46:26 I dare say you've had some experience, 46:27 but I imagine in my advanced years, I 46:30 could teach you a thing or two. 46:31 Although, forgive me, I've uh 46:33 >> [laughter] 46:33 >> I've I've no real read on the uh the the 46:36 the lifespan of a dwarf, but uh to me 46:38 you look uh young and healthy. So, I 46:40 imagine we'll be uh pretty well matched. 46:44 Indeed. 46:45 I would love to. 46:47 Uh very well. Um the the practice yard 46:49 should be free at this hour, if you want 46:50 to accompany me there. 46:52 All right, let's go. 46:54 Okay. And uh with a a nod to the 46:58 blacksmith, and he sort of drops his 47:00 sword off on the counter, um Alwyn 47:04 uh gestures to the door, and uh the two 47:06 of you leave. And he sort of walks you 47:08 through town towards the practice yard 47:11 where the guards train. 47:12 Um 47:13 >> All right. 47:14 With that in mind, we're going to 47:16 conclude this scene here, and we will 47:18 revisit Bro-Dude and Sir Alwyn [music] 47:21 a little later. But now, back in 47:23 Nailbrook, uh or back in the uh the the 47:26 rest of the town, at least, um let's 47:29 check in with the crew who's over at the 47:31 general store. 47:32 >> [music] 47:32 >> Um Mr. Wizard is perusing all of the uh 47:35 the animal hats, 47:37 >> [laughter] 47:37 >> I think. 47:38 I'm in the animal section, looking for a 47:40 great hat. There's definitely like a pet 47:43 store sort of section of this, yeah. 47:45 There's like, you know, various like, 47:46 whether it's wizard's familiars or just 47:48 animals that uh people are bringing with 47:50 them. Beastmaster rangers often kind of 47:52 stop through needing treats for a bear 47:54 or a wolf or something like that. So, a 47:56 cat should be, you know, 47:57 something they can accommodate, yes. 48:00 Um what is everybody else looking for? 48:02 Uh does anyone else have anything on the 48:04 shopping list already that I can help 48:06 you with? 48:08 I'm looking at fine clothes. Ruby saw 48:11 some really nice clothes, and she really 48:14 wants them. 48:15 Mm, okay. So, uh that'll run you 15 gold 48:19 pieces, according to this. 48:21 Is that something Ruby wants to uh cash 48:23 in? Ruby wants to buy. 48:26 It Can Can we pretend it's a really nice 48:28 dress? 48:29 Oh, we absolutely can, yeah. Okay. 48:31 >> Um 48:32 How do Mr. Wizard and Max uh react to 48:35 Ruby walking around with sort of a a 48:37 dress over one arm, being like, I will 48:39 have this? 48:41 Seems expensive. 48:42 >> paying any attention at all. I am 48:46 currently perusing a little glass 48:48 cabinet with some holy symbols in it, 48:52 and I'm looking very intently in it. 48:55 Interesting. Okay. I look over at Ruby. 48:58 Ruby. 49:00 Wizard, dress, look. 49:02 >> Oh, great. That looks fantastic. Um Ru- 49:04 Ruby, would you mind spotting me five 49:06 gold? 49:08 Yes, I would mind. Max has all our gold. 49:11 Oh, that's right. 49:12 Carry on. 49:14 Thanks. [snorts] 49:14 Max, what you looking at? 49:15 >> picked up 49:17 I just picked my ears picked up. You're 49:19 You're our gold. Sorry. What? Yeah. Our 49:24 gold. 49:27 Yes, Max, you'll be purchasing a hat for 49:29 a cat. 49:32 I turn I turn to the the general store 49:36 um 49:37 person and saying 49:38 >> Proprietor, yeah. proprietor 49:41 I'll have two potions of healing, 49:42 please. 49:44 All right you are. Yes, absolutely. Um 49:46 anything else I can help you find? 49:49 I told you he had all the money. 49:52 So, potions of healing are 50 gold each, 49:54 so that'll be 100 gold total. 49:56 Mhm. And a hat for a cat. 50:01 Do us a deal on the hat for the cat. Why 50:03 have you got hats for a cat? 50:05 Uh listen, a lot of folk come through 50:08 town. Everyone has all sorts of needs 50:11 and I'm here to cater to those. Um I I 50:13 saw you perusing the holy symbols. Any 50:16 inclination towards the spell casting 50:17 arts? 50:20 Yes, it's 50:22 strange that you have 50:24 my symbol in here. 50:27 And I was just curious how much these 50:30 are. 50:32 Oh, um 50:34 I'm surprised you don't have one already 50:36 if you're uh 50:38 you know, you're uh 50:40 already one of the the the clerical 50:42 sorts. 50:43 Yes, I'm I'm wondering why specifically 50:46 mine is already is here. 50:49 Doesn't hurt to have another. Uh which 50:51 is it? Um the uh 50:53 >> Yeah, the paintbrush. 50:56 Oh, yes. Oh, yeah, the the the the the 50:57 symbol of Brass. Um yeah, no, that's um 51:02 a fairly common. I mean, the the uh 51:04 the the the the arts and entertainment 51:06 often appeal to uh folk of a clerical 51:09 sort. Ge- generally sort of healing 51:11 through laughter, you know, that that 51:13 sort of thing. Um Yeah. 51:15 >> I I I have an amulet, 51:17 but 51:18 I I 51:19 this one's uh an emblem. 51:23 Mhm. 51:25 Mhm. 51:27 Right you are. Well, um if if you want 51:29 the the the paintbrush amulet, that'll 51:31 be uh five gold pieces. 51:34 Pretty pretty standard going rate for a 51:36 holy symbol of that sort. 51:39 Mhm. 51:40 He has so much money. 51:43 How much money do you have, Mr. Uh um 51:46 um Blumber? You have You can have 51:49 10 gold each. 51:52 Oh, it's a generous generous. Really? 51:56 That might be the nicest thing he's ever 51:57 done. 52:00 Considering how much gold I think Max 52:01 has, um 52:03 >> [laughter] 52:04 >> it's 52:05 He's He's handing out pocket money at 52:06 this stage, but 52:08 yes, if you if Max wants if you want to 52:09 subtract 20 gold from your your 52:12 inventory. Uh if anyone needs to uh 52:13 >> Yes, I'll throw in the coins. 52:15 Yeah. I'm just going to make it what I 52:18 would spend on the dress. 52:22 Sure thing. 52:23 >> Okay. 52:27 I want to make it buy an airship. 52:30 What uh What? 52:32 No no no no no, [laughter] there's a 52:34 sign over here. There's a book here 52:35 talking about it's a airship salesman 52:37 here. 52:38 >> see an airship around here, wizard? I 52:40 don't think even the folks at the 52:41 carriage works have that kind of 52:43 technology at on display. Uh you know, 52:45 you you'd rather consult the Nomish 52:47 artificers at Myth Reach for that kind 52:49 of thing. 52:53 Are you done shopping, Max? 52:58 Um can I Two health potions, one holy 53:01 symbol, 105 gold pieces so far. And the 53:04 cat hat. 53:06 And that the hat, I think we can um 53:08 honestly uh we've we've had a hard time 53:11 moving them from the shelves. We can 53:12 throw that one in for free. 53:14 The dress, however, 15 gold. 53:17 Here you go. 53:19 I want a joke. When it says emblem, it 53:22 says born on fabric. Is this something I 53:24 can like put on my cape or something? It 53:27 It'd be like a a patch of some kind, 53:29 yeah, I guess, or like a um 53:31 like a 53:32 um 53:34 Yeah, some sort of design that you could 53:36 stitch into something. 53:37 Or or alternatively, it says on a 53:39 shield. So, yeah, you could you could 53:41 like emblazon it on a shield. 53:43 >> But no, um no, you do. I'm pretty sure 53:44 you do. Do I? Really? 53:46 >> Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 53:48 Yeah, it's in there. It's in your in 53:49 your inventory. 53:50 Oh, sick. I might put it on my shield. 53:56 I love the fact that it could be a 53:58 shield or fabric. Like those two are 54:00 interchangeable. 54:02 Yeah. Yeah, I mean it I mean it's it's 54:04 I I feel like it's uh 54:06 Imagine like the difference between like 54:08 an iron-on patch or like a vinyl decal 54:11 is sort of the difference, I think. 54:12 [laughter] 54:13 Um 54:14 >> All right. Uh I'll take I'll take the 54:15 emblem. 54:18 Right you are. Yes, then uh that'll 54:20 that'll be um that'll be five golds. 54:22 It's 105 for me with the two. Yes. 54:27 And uh 15 for the dress, and we're 54:29 throwing in a a little beanie for the 54:31 cat. 54:32 >> [laughter] 54:32 >> I have now six gold to my name. 54:36 It's my first dress. 54:37 This is so exciting. I'm not going to 54:39 put it on yet because we're going after 54:40 eggs and I I can't risk it. 54:43 What what kind of um hat does Mrs. Cat 54:46 have? It's got I said a beanie. I was 54:48 mostly joking. What's I apologize. That 54:50 was muted. Our good friend George is 54:52 tending to his lawn. 54:54 Grass for you uh 54:56 magical folk. Um 54:58 I think it's a I think the the hat is is 55:01 like a witch's hat. Kind of like 55:03 spirally. 55:04 Love it. Yes. Yeah, no, perfect. And 55:07 >> And uh Mr. Wizard would also like a 55:08 crowbar. 55:10 >> [laughter] 55:11 >> Okay, cool. 55:12 >> Of all of the wizard things on this 55:14 list. 55:15 >> [laughter] 55:16 >> Yeah. Um so, that's an additional 55:17 >> the list, Scar? Did you see how many 55:19 useful things there could be? Could you 55:22 uh tell me because I think I lost the 55:23 page a while back. 223. 55:27 Um I do love the fact that Mr. Wizard 55:29 just wants a crowbar. I think that's 55:30 perfect. 55:31 >> [laughter] 55:34 >> It's insane. 55:39 Uh the shopkeeper says, "All this talk 55:40 of airships has got my mind racing, I 55:42 tell you. Should I go into the airship 55:44 business? Is that really something that 55:46 They seem more demand than cat hats. Or 55:49 actually, in the same demand from the 55:50 same man. 55:52 Well, yes, you you seem like quite a 55:54 unique customer, but uh you know, I've 55:56 had 55:56 >> I wouldn't get into any business based 55:58 on him. He's 55:59 a bit like the wind. Comes and goes. 56:01 >> Mr. Blumber, if you recommend any other 56:03 objects, I quite enjoy this crowbar. Can 56:05 you imagine the places we could get into 56:07 with it? Or if there's a I don't know, 56:10 an evil toad appears, we could squash it 56:12 on its head. 56:14 The crowbar will net you two gold, by 56:16 the way. 56:17 Okay. How much gold have you got, Scar? 56:23 I have 56:27 Is it 25? Yeah, I have 25 gold. You 56:30 should buy a lamp cuz you're always 56:32 blind. 56:34 Oh, [laughter] I just cast Mr. Blunder 56:36 as a as a light of our lives. There's um 56:40 Well, there's I don't know how useful it 56:42 is, but there's arcane focuses. 56:45 I'm going to stick to the the crowbar. 56:48 Mr. Wizard does have his arcane focus. 56:49 He's got his his wand. I think that's 56:52 uh what what he's using to cast the 56:53 spells. 56:55 Right. He did drop it on the floor. 56:58 >> [laughter] 57:00 >> But when he's able to pick it up again, 57:02 I think that's Ma- Max batting it out of 57:04 your hand. I think it 57:06 It automatically returns to Mr. Wizard's 57:08 hand every so often like a lightsaber 57:09 using the force. 57:11 Should we buy something for the the 57:13 small man? 57:15 No, he's got his own gold. 57:17 I'll get it. Right, and one map, please. 57:21 Oh, you want a 57:21 >> read it? 57:23 Map of the realm. Right, that'll that'll 57:25 be a a single gold piece. There we are. 57:28 Right, down to five. Right, we're done 57:29 here. This is for food. 57:33 How do we need to add this to our 57:34 inventory? Are you going to do that? I 57:36 will do that for you. So, to recap, we 57:38 have two uh 57:42 potions of healing going to Max. 57:45 Uh let me quickly find that in potion. 57:48 There we go. We've got two of them. 57:51 One, two. 57:53 Great. Um we have a map. 58:00 When it says 2D4 58:02 Is that two times your dice plus plus 58:05 four? 58:06 Uh D4 is the four-sided dice. 58:09 >> The one that looks like it would hurt. 58:10 Two of those. Two of those, basically, 58:12 yeah. So, 58:13 so maximum eight. 58:15 And lowest two. Plus two, it says. Okay, 58:17 so the lowest you can get is four. Yes. 58:20 Okay. And and the highest can be 10. 58:22 Okay. Yeah. 58:23 >> 12 Yeah, 10. Yeah. 58:26 Okay, makes sense. I think I think 58:28 potion of healing is a good idea. 58:30 >> [snorts] 58:30 >> I'm so happy with my dress. It's lovely. 58:33 Can I go to the jeweler? 58:35 You can. Bear with me 1 second while I 58:38 drop some fine clothes into Ruby's 58:40 inventory. 58:42 I'm not going to wear them yet. They'll 58:44 get all dirty in the air. I 58:45 >> Go. 58:47 And then 58:49 uh yeah, that's Ruby taken care of. 58:52 Um Mr. Wizard wanted a hat for the cat. 58:55 I think we'll just add that as flavor. 58:57 Um am I missing anything else? The 58:58 crowbar. You wanted the crowbar as well. 59:00 The crowbar. 59:02 I love I love the crowbar so much. It's 59:05 And then I I've added the emblem on my 59:06 shield, but I don't know if that is just 59:08 Yeah, we we again, we'll just we'll just 59:10 kind of flavor that in, but uh yeah, 59:12 good that you have a holy symbol on your 59:13 shield. That's very very nice. Okay, 59:16 fantastic. Uh so, Ruby splits off from 59:18 the party and heads to the jailer. Um uh 59:21 the jailer the jeweler. Sorry. 59:23 [laughter] Very different. 59:24 >> the jailer. Um yeah. So, yeah, I I think 59:28 Brohini Dudestone has already left the 59:30 uh the blacksmith. So, at this point, 59:32 Bro is sort of uh out of the picture. Um 59:35 we'll kind of put you over there for the 59:36 moment. Um 59:38 And uh yeah, Ruby, you head on into the 59:40 jeweler. Um it's the same gnomish uh 59:44 shopkeep who you met previously. It 59:45 says, "Uh oh, oh, it's you again. Hello. 59:47 Uh well, welcome back." 59:49 Hello. Um Ruby sort of skips inside and 59:52 lays a garnet on the desk. How much 59:55 would you pay for something like this? 59:57 Oh, my words. Um 59:59 I think 1:00:00 uh yeah, flawless. Look at that. And uh 1:00:03 yeah, she takes out like the little 1:00:04 jeweler's loop and starts kind of 1:00:06 examining it for any flaws and 1:00:07 everything and it's like, "No, that's 1:00:09 that's quite well cut as well. Um 1:00:13 don't see many of these too often. Um 1:00:16 I think 1:00:17 I'd I'd give you 100 gold for it." 1:00:20 100 gold. 1:00:22 I don't know anything about gems, but 1:00:24 that sounds like a lot of gold. 1:00:26 Deal. 1:00:28 "Fantastic. All right. So, happy to take 1:00:29 it off your hands." And uh she writes 1:00:31 you up a little like receipt for it, 1:00:33 basically, and uh yeah, counts out 100 1:00:35 gold in like a little pouch and hands 1:00:37 that over to you. So, feel free to add 1:00:39 that to your inventory and we'll remove 1:00:41 the garnet. 1:00:43 Nice. 1:00:44 Okay, back inside. 1:00:45 >> of trail. Am I able to like trail behind 1:00:48 and just interrupt? 1:00:50 Um Max, as you head out to the river, 1:00:54 Mhm. um as you're sort of walking along 1:00:56 the river, you hear from just beyond the 1:00:59 wall, just kind of like down where the 1:01:00 the the level of the river is probably 1:01:02 like a little bit lower. There's like a 1:01:03 6-ft wall and then the river. Uh you 1:01:05 hear a distant quack. 1:01:08 Right. 1:01:09 Oh. 1:01:10 Oh, like by by under the under the 1:01:12 bridge or Um sort of yeah, a little bit 1:01:14 further back down the path. You sort of 1:01:16 hear this this sort of echoing like 1:01:19 Quack. Okay. I I sort of turn 1:01:22 and immediately lock eyes 1:01:25 with a rather strange-looking duck. Yes. 1:01:29 Uh I will I will drag the duck into play 1:01:31 here. Give me 1 second. 1:01:33 Um 1:01:36 There he is. 1:01:39 Quack. All right. 1:01:41 Once again, thank you to Duty for this 1:01:43 incredible illustration. 1:01:44 >> [laughter] 1:01:45 >> Uh sort of put my arms over the wall, 1:01:48 look this duck straight in the eye, 1:01:51 and say, "What do you want?" 1:01:55 The duck flaps its wing 1:01:57 in a way that looks kind of like 1:01:59 beckoning. 1:02:02 Hm. 1:02:03 In in which direction? 1:02:05 Uh like towards the other side of the 1:02:07 bank, like over here. And it starts to 1:02:09 kind of like 1:02:10 flap a little bit. 1:02:12 Like it gets the wings going. 1:02:13 >> familiar with the importance of this 1:02:15 animal, 1:02:17 I'm going to just turn and say, 1:02:19 "Be back in a minute." 1:02:22 and head over to the duck. 1:02:25 Uh the duck meets you on the path sort 1:02:27 of about here. 1:02:28 Okay. 1:02:30 Winks at you, 1:02:32 which is weird for a bird. You can't 1:02:34 really see the other eye, so it it you 1:02:36 you it sort of turns and does this and 1:02:39 you sort of assume that the other eye is 1:02:40 still open. Um 1:02:42 and waddles off 1:02:44 on this path 1:02:46 up this way. 1:02:48 And obviously, I stride quite 1:02:50 quickly behind because it is a duck and 1:02:52 it is waddling very like as best it can. 1:02:55 Yes. 1:02:56 Um I think occasionally, uh it sort of 1:02:59 feels you you sort of getting up too 1:03:02 close behind it and like picks up the 1:03:03 pace and like flaps a little bit. Um and 1:03:06 it hops 1:03:06 >> trying to pet it as well. I'm like 1:03:07 trying to touch it and it doesn't like 1:03:09 it. It hops uh past the tree, uh past 1:03:12 this little lamp post, and then heads up 1:03:14 towards uh an area that you see quite 1:03:17 clearly is some sort of temple. 1:03:20 Um there's a statue outside. Um it's 1:03:22 sort of non-don- non-denominational 1:03:24 temple. Um and there's a cat sort of 1:03:26 curled up uh by the statue and um the 1:03:30 doors of the temple are wide open and 1:03:31 inside you can see a a dragonborn cleric 1:03:34 is just kind of going about attending to 1:03:35 something on the on the inside. The duck 1:03:38 sort of looks at you and goes, 1:03:39 Quack. 1:03:41 Quack you are. All right. And then I I 1:03:43 sort of move up in front of the temple, 1:03:46 take a look inside take a look up at the 1:03:48 the building, I turn back to the duck 1:03:51 and sort of point 1:03:52 point inside through the door and sort 1:03:55 of just asking the question in a way 1:03:56 that the duck understands. It kind of 1:03:58 goes, 1:04:00 it like bobs its head. 1:04:04 All right, I'll play your game. 1:04:06 And I'll go inside. 1:04:08 Right. Inside the temple, uh there's 1:04:10 yeah, this this uh brass-scaled uh 1:04:13 dragonborn uh sort of tall, heavy-set, 1:04:16 very lizard-like features, uh has these 1:04:18 blue robes that kind of accent his 1:04:20 scales, and he's sort of carefully 1:04:22 pouring water from a a copper bucket 1:04:24 into a basin at the foot of one of these 1:04:26 shrines. Um the floor is this lovely 1:04:28 polished stone. There are carved 1:04:30 pillars. Um and in between each of these 1:04:32 pillars is a shrine to some deity or 1:04:35 other. Um the more generous gods even 1:04:37 share a space. Um and so you maybe 1:04:40 recognize a couple of the pantheon here, 1:04:43 um but uh the the dragonborn sort of 1:04:45 spots you walking and says, "Oh, 1:04:47 welcome, traveler. If you have a need to 1:04:49 rest and take a moment in contemplation 1:04:50 or make an offering to the gods, the 1:04:52 house uh gladly receives you. But uh ah, 1:04:55 I I see the the emblem of Brass upon 1:04:58 your shield. Welcome, brother." 1:05:00 Ah, you recognize my symbol. "Hm, 1:05:03 indeed. As attendant to this temple, I 1:05:05 know many of the uh various gods of the 1:05:07 realm. Uh 1:05:09 Well, Brass is often 1:05:11 is second to some of the more 1:05:14 aggressive or uh 1:05:17 uh 1:05:18 wealthy gods, should we say? 1:05:20 Not many give much to the arts. 1:05:24 "Oh, well, yes. Well, there's 1:05:27 such is the way of these things. The 1:05:28 gods are patrons of various people. The 1:05:31 downtrodden deserve just as much faith 1:05:33 as the mighty. And indeed, like we 1:05:35 cannot all be Freya the War Maiden or 1:05:38 Otar the Promised or even the great 1:05:41 Bahamut, whom I serve. But uh there are, 1:05:44 of course, many gods and many many 1:05:47 people throughout this world." 1:05:50 Well, 1:05:52 I'll be completely honest with you. 1:05:55 Although I display incredible connection 1:05:58 to my god, it's rather reluctantly, and 1:06:01 I have been 1:06:02 rather led here. Do you have any statue 1:06:06 to Brass or any kind of 1:06:09 uh 1:06:10 imagery? "Oh, oh, yes. Uh the the the 1:06:12 brush and palette should be uh just 1:06:14 around here in this corner." And he sort 1:06:16 of points you towards an alcove where uh 1:06:18 carved in the stone of the uh the sort 1:06:22 of alcove is this sort of uh paintbrush 1:06:26 brushing a shape onto this palette. Um 1:06:29 and this one has been adorned with some 1:06:31 various colors. Um and there is 1:06:35 something about these brush strokes that 1:06:37 I think uh this is something that maybe 1:06:39 Rufus would have told you in your early 1:06:41 studies is that the theologians, the 1:06:43 various sort of religious scholars, have 1:06:45 always argued over whether there's a 1:06:48 shape in the center of this palette that 1:06:50 looks like either a rabbit or a duck. 1:06:53 And uh this is part of like a schism in 1:06:55 the uh the followers of Brass. For a 1:06:57 while, nobody could decide whether it 1:06:58 was the rabbit or whether it was the 1:07:00 duck. But uh you know, eventually, it 1:07:02 was all sort of patched up and everyone 1:07:04 sort of decided they were arguing over 1:07:05 very little. But uh yeah, the uh the the 1:07:08 palette and brush is 1:07:10 uh quite often the symbol of Brass in 1:07:11 shrines such as this." 1:07:14 Okay, so I'm going to go and have a look 1:07:15 at these brush strokes. Sort of squint. 1:07:17 Am I making anything out here? 1:07:19 Uh roll an investigation check for me, 1:07:22 please. 1:07:24 Okay, let me find that. 1:07:26 Uh investigation. Oh, I've got good 1:07:29 investigation. Let's see if that 1:07:31 actually pays off. 1:07:37 It's not too bad, I guess. Yeah, but 1:07:39 with a 14, I think yeah, you 1:07:42 you're definitely on the duck side of 1:07:44 things, which makes your new companion 1:07:46 slightly more uh curious as as a as a 1:07:50 factor. But yeah, there's something 1:07:51 about like the shade of green that looks 1:07:54 very similar to the sort of mallard 1:07:56 green head that the duck has. And 1:07:57 there's a flash of blue that looks like 1:08:00 uh the blue sort of tint to the sort of 1:08:02 patch on some of its feathers. And yeah, 1:08:04 um is there anything in particular that 1:08:06 you're looking for in communing with the 1:08:08 holy symbol of Brass? 1:08:12 Well, 1:08:13 well, I guess I I could be looking for 1:08:15 some guidance 1:08:17 as cuz I'm feeling a little lost. Hm. 1:08:19 How would I go about doing something 1:08:21 like that? Well, yeah, no, you um you 1:08:24 sort of take a moment in in silence and 1:08:26 reach out to try and touch whatever the 1:08:30 divine sense that Rufus was always 1:08:32 trying to instill in you. 1:08:34 And 1:08:36 it's odd. You you feel a pull back 1:08:38 towards the doorway. Um but when you 1:08:41 turn and look through the doorway, the 1:08:43 duck is just sort of standing there 1:08:45 like idly kind of scratching at the 1:08:47 ground outside the temple doors. 1:08:50 But this confuses me cuz normally, the 1:08:52 duck leads me somewhere and then 1:08:54 goes off somewhere. So, the fact that 1:08:56 he's still here means there's unfinished 1:08:58 business. Hm. 1:09:01 Yeah, I think Max feels that quite 1:09:03 clearly that there is something else 1:09:04 that this duck wants. 1:09:06 So, I'm going to look at look at the 1:09:07 duck and just be I cuz I hate all this 1:09:09 imagery. Like Max was quite impatient. 1:09:12 He just goes, "What do you want? Quack." 1:09:16 >> [laughter] 1:09:16 >> Quack. 1:09:17 Uh the uh dragonborn attendant sort of 1:09:20 looks around and goes, 1:09:21 "I'm sorry. You 1:09:22 talking to me? I'm No, you see the duck. 1:09:24 Do you see the duck? 1:09:26 "Oh, yes. Strange animal. Surprised the 1:09:28 cat hasn't chased it off. What's it 1:09:30 doing out there? That's my duck. Now, 1:09:32 mind your own business for a second. 1:09:33 Duck, what do you want? [laughter] 1:09:36 Uh the duck sort of again uh like makes 1:09:38 a 1:09:40 kind of noise and like flaps its wings a 1:09:42 little bit. Um but it starts to walk off 1:09:45 uh up the path in this direction. 1:09:49 Excuse me. 1:09:52 Right. I'm I'm sort of going to talk to 1:09:54 the Dragonborn for a second and just be 1:09:56 like 1:09:57 that's that's a sign for me to leave, 1:09:59 isn't it? 1:10:00 Um if it is a sign you seek, then 1:10:03 perhaps you have been given it. Yes, um 1:10:06 but if you need my counsel at any other 1:10:07 point, please feel free to stop by the 1:10:09 temple. My doors are always open to 1:10:11 others of the clerical arts. 1:10:13 I I'll tell you what this interaction 1:10:15 has given me 1:10:17 is I need to learn how to talk to 1:10:19 animals 1:10:20 as soon as humanly possible because I am 1:10:23 sick of hearing that duck quack at me 1:10:26 when I could just understand it. 1:10:31 Are you following the duck? Waddling, 1:10:32 I'm I'm following the duck. You're 1:10:34 waddling out behind it. 1:10:35 >> [laughter] 1:10:36 >> Uh the duck continues up the path 1:10:38 towards the river 1:10:39 and for a second you think maybe it's 1:10:41 just going to like jump back into the 1:10:42 river and swim off, but it actually 1:10:44 continues on this path that leads north 1:10:48 I I wave over to Ruby and be like, 1:10:49 "Don't worry, just following a duck." 1:10:53 Wizard, should we get him? 1:10:55 Do you want the cat to kill the duck? 1:10:58 Keep your cat away from me. Do you need 1:11:00 help? 1:11:02 Not yet. 1:11:06 Oh, it's all right. 1:11:07 >> you can eat the duck later. It is ad 1:11:09 time soon. 1:11:10 Yes, with Max uh following this duck 1:11:13 away, I think we'll run some ads and 1:11:14 then we'll check back in with Brohiny 1:11:16 Dudestone as he uh spars with Sir Alwin 1:11:19 Faraday. 1:11:22 I I have a hard time with that duck's 1:11:24 face. That is the funniest looking duck. 1:11:27 It's absolutely 1:11:28 >> but funny at the same time. It's 1:11:32 Yeah, I have uh 1:11:34 I I have I have some fun stuff uh 1:11:37 like there is let let me let me just say 1:11:38 there is more than one duck drawing. So, 1:11:40 I'm looking forward to revealing the 1:11:42 other duck drawing at another point 1:11:44 during this. Um 1:11:46 but in the meantime 1:11:47 >> know what to do with the ducks. 1:11:49 >> [laughter] 1:11:50 >> I wish I could speak with animals. 1:11:52 Uh in the meantime, I can show you the 1:11:55 uh the full image of the duck again. So, 1:11:57 anyone who uh hasn't 1:11:58 >> Wow. hasn't caught this already. 1:12:00 Beautifully rendered Wow. 1:12:03 That's a great duck. I might go and 1:12:05 visit little boys' room if that's okay. 1:12:07 Oh, please do. Yes, if anyone needs to 1:12:08 take a break, go for it. 1:12:10 >> idea, actually. 1:12:11 I'll be right back. 1:12:12 >> angry and whimsical at the same time. 1:12:14 That's a good duck. The duck truly like 1:12:18 runs the gamut. 1:12:19 It's so cute. [laughter] 1:12:22 Perfect, perfect. All right. While 1:12:25 impulses off, I will set up the next 1:12:27 scene. 1:12:29 Hope everyone's enjoying a little bit of 1:12:30 domestic D&D because it's fighting time. 1:12:32 [clears throat] 1:12:33 Ooh. 1:12:35 I'm enjoying our little between episode 1:12:38 gear getting. 1:12:40 Yeah. Yeah, this is this it's always 1:12:42 nice to do an episode like this where 1:12:43 there's a little bit of down time before 1:12:45 we really hit the gas. And uh 1:12:49 speaking of which, uh 1:12:51 they did mention that there was a 1:12:52 carriage works in town if Mr. Wizard is 1:12:53 interested in acquiring a land vehicle. 1:12:56 I would love to. 1:13:01 So, maybe we'll head back over to Ruby 1:13:03 and Mr. Wizard after this and then we'll 1:13:05 see what mystery Max has with this this 1:13:07 duck that he is now obediently 1:13:09 following. 1:13:11 I had no ideas for the cats. 1:13:14 >> [laughter] 1:13:15 >> Oh, no, no, no. I should have thought of 1:13:16 that. I should have I should have 1:13:17 thought about the cat ahead of time, but 1:13:19 I didn't. 1:13:20 I I I feel like uh so well at this point 1:13:24 that I think a lot of people were 1:13:25 assuming uh that you know you one of the 1:13:27 cats was going to be like your cat, but 1:13:29 then Mhm. um yeah. 1:13:31 >> to go in a different direction within 1:13:33 within a millisecond. Yeah, and I think 1:13:35 >> of thinking. I was like 1:13:37 I think that's lovely. I think Mr. 1:13:38 Wizard having like his his own character 1:13:41 and Miss Mrs. Cat being her own 1:13:43 character is also just wonderful. So, 1:13:46 It's a grey my favorite rock, so it's 1:13:47 like I don't know. I think that They are 1:13:49 they are very pretty, yeah. So, I think 1:13:51 that's it it's it's almost nice that she 1:13:53 she's got like the the Jeb sheet kind of 1:13:55 quality where like the color changes a 1:13:56 little bit as you're looking at it. 1:13:58 >> Yeah. 1:13:58 And now a hat. 1:14:00 Yeah, and now a hat. And now a little 1:14:01 witch hat. 1:14:03 So happy. I'm going to get a little 1:14:04 backpack for it next. 1:14:06 >> [laughter] 1:14:07 >> Like um did you ever play um is it 1:14:09 called Stray? The game where you're like 1:14:11 a a cat walking around like um 1:14:13 a robot society and like the cat gets a 1:14:16 backpack put on it and it's so miserable 1:14:18 for like a minute. I've [laughter] never 1:14:19 I I Chatter tried to get me to play that 1:14:21 for a year and I still want it. It's a 1:14:24 cute one. I've I've watched it played. I 1:14:25 haven't played it myself, but uh yeah, 1:14:26 really really cute game. 1:14:32 All right. 1:14:33 Great and returns. Are the ads done? Are 1:14:35 we ready to go? 1:14:36 Yeah. 1:14:38 Yeah. All right. 1:14:38 >> Got an hour of runway now without ads. 1:14:42 We are picking up 1:14:42 >> 9 minutes. 1:14:44 >> [laughter] 1:14:44 >> I did a 2-minute ad to give me some more 1:14:46 runway. Yeah, how do I do that? I'll 1:14:48 figure it out. 1:14:51 Um so, back with Brohiny Dudestone, um 1:14:54 Sir Alwin takes you to a wide open-air 1:14:56 practice yard. There are sort of rough 1:14:58 flagstones, but sawdust covering the 1:15:00 floor 1:15:01 and racks of wooden weapons against one 1:15:03 wall. Um and so, he's going to head over 1:15:06 here to where the weapons are 1:15:09 stowed and yeah, picking up a wooden 1:15:11 longsword from this rack over here, he 1:15:14 says, "Uh well, I've uh 1:15:16 I've no intent to to test the sharpness 1:15:18 of your axe, Master Dudestone. Uh nor do 1:15:20 I want to send you to the healer. So, uh 1:15:22 we'll spar with some of these wooden 1:15:23 weapons. Uh that way we can hope to only 1:15:25 come away with bruises. 1:15:26 Uh find one with a weight that suits 1:15:28 you." 1:15:29 All right, sounds good. 1:15:32 I'll go over here and I will take a 1:15:34 look. 1:15:35 And we have them here. He 1:15:38 wanders into the center of the yard and 1:15:40 just sort of casually waits for you to 1:15:43 take up a fighting stance with whatever 1:15:45 suits you. Um yeah, there are a few like 1:15:48 wooden great axes. You pick one up, sort 1:15:51 of heft it, and the weight feels 1:15:53 unusual, but um 1:15:55 but like it it's close enough to the 1:15:57 weapon that you currently wield. 1:15:58 All right, I suppose this will do. 1:16:01 All right. 1:16:03 Uh I actually have a couple of wooden 1:16:05 swords made up that we are going to use 1:16:08 for the combat. So, I'm going to drag 1:16:10 that into your inventory 1:16:12 and I'll take the liberty of quickly 1:16:14 equipping that for you. This is only 1:16:15 going to do 1D4 damage instead of 1D12. 1:16:18 Um mostly because I don't want you to 1:16:21 actually kill this guy. 1:16:23 >> [laughter] 1:16:23 >> Um but uh yeah, he is going to equip a 1:16:25 wooden longsword. 1:16:28 Okay. [laughter] 1:16:35 It's not my segment. 1:16:36 >> [laughter] 1:16:38 >> He's got a Cornetto, bless him. All 1:16:40 right, am I distracting? I'll just go. 1:16:42 No, you're good. You're good. Not at 1:16:43 all, no. No, I just can't be on camera. 1:16:44 That was so funny. I was just wondering 1:16:46 what Scott was laughing about cuz I 1:16:47 >> [laughter] 1:16:49 >> All right, and having created an 1:16:51 encounter, we're going to roll 1:16:52 initiative. 1:16:54 Okay. 1:16:56 So, I'll roll that for Alwin. 1:17:01 Oh, he got a 16. 1:17:06 All right. 1:17:09 You may want to find initiative. I got 1:17:11 to remember. Is that the INT at the top? 1:17:13 Uh it's the initiative is Oh, it's the 1:17:16 >> underneath your armor class. Yeah, it's 1:17:17 right there. I got it. Here we go. 1:17:19 Rolling a I thought it was going to be a 1:17:21 one again. 1:17:22 A 13. 1:17:23 And it turns to be plus two, 15. For a 1:17:26 total of 15, so he goes just before you. 1:17:29 Um but uh yeah, he's going to say uh 1:17:31 "Well, 1:17:32 uh now is the time as as good as any. 1:17:36 How about you?" And uh he swings at you 1:17:38 with his wooden longswords. 1:17:43 Oh, 1:17:44 >> [laughter] 1:17:45 >> and he critically fails. Oh my goodness. 1:17:49 Um I will reveal that to everybody so 1:17:51 you can see it in the chat as well, but 1:17:52 yeah, he steps up and uh stumbles on the 1:17:56 the courtyard. Um just like a flagstone 1:17:58 kind of catches him off balance and he 1:18:00 he stumbles into you and oh, 1:18:02 >> [laughter] 1:18:02 >> "My apologies. I didn't mean to to rush 1:18:04 at you quite that well. Oh, oh my 1:18:06 goodness. Um well, I've left myself open 1:18:09 to attack. You better press the 1:18:10 advantage." 1:18:14 And uh 1:18:16 we will move that over to your turn. 1:18:18 All right, and now if I go to 1:18:22 my great axe wooden, that's the one I'm 1:18:25 That's the one. Yep. All right, we'll 1:18:26 give that a go. 1:18:28 And I have an 18 plus three plus two, a 1:18:32 23. 23 definitely hits. 1:18:35 so, go ahead and roll damage for your 1:18:37 great axe. It should be in the little 1:18:38 chat bubble above the uh I'm struggling. 1:18:42 Okay. Here we go. Damage. 1:18:46 Normal. 1:18:50 Oh. 1:18:51 All right. Okay, so he takes four damage 1:18:54 as you uh take advantage of his stumble 1:18:57 and strike back. He says, "Oh, yes. No, 1:19:00 I felt that. I felt that, Master Dwarf. 1:19:02 Very, very good." 1:19:04 Yeah, thank you. I've been through lots 1:19:06 of training in my day. I was ready for 1:19:08 this. Aye, you certainly come at me with 1:19:10 plenty of force. I'll give you that, but 1:19:13 sometimes just rushing down your 1:19:14 opponent won't do. What if they can 1:19:15 overpower you? 1:19:17 The trick is to plant your feet right. 1:19:19 Some evasive footwork often makes the 1:19:21 difference between leaving yourself open 1:19:23 and getting away. And he steps in, 1:19:26 closes the gap between you, and swings 1:19:28 again. 1:19:33 This time he rolls a 13. Does a 13 hit 1:19:36 your armor? 1:19:40 That's the the big number underneath 1:19:41 your character portrait. 1:19:42 >> 16, not quite. 1:19:43 >> 16. Okay, right. He he's got swings low, 1:19:46 but you're already down there and you're 1:19:48 ready to block the the swing. Um and he 1:19:51 says, "Oh, I can see this is certainly 1:19:53 going to be quite the meeting, right? 1:19:56 Uh I believe it's 1:19:57 your move then." 1:20:00 All right. 1:20:02 I mean, it was a brilliant move, but I 1:20:04 was ready for it, so 1:20:06 here we go. Let's see what I've got this 1:20:08 time. 1:20:11 And I roll 1:20:13 an 18. 1:20:14 All right. Go ahead and roll damage. 1:20:21 Ooh, coming at you strong this time, 1:20:23 buddy. That's a seven. In response, he's 1:20:26 going to parry. 1:20:28 Uh so, he's going to roll one of his 1:20:31 superiority dice. 1:20:33 And he parries for seven. So, if I go 1:20:37 ahead and reveal this to you, he's using 1:20:40 ability that like just as you think 1:20:41 you're about to land this blow, he 1:20:43 swipes it away with his sword and stands 1:20:46 back up at his full height and says, 1:20:47 "Ha, you see? That's the thing you need 1:20:49 to remember, footwork. I was ready for 1:20:52 that blow as it came in low. I brought 1:20:54 myself down to where you were about to 1:20:55 swing and I was able to counter. Tactics 1:20:58 sometimes are more important than the 1:20:59 brute force that you're clearly very 1:21:01 good at." 1:21:03 I much enjoyed that. I feel like I'm 1:21:06 learning something new today. Mhm, there 1:21:09 you go. And as I said, evasive footwork 1:21:11 will often make the difference between a 1:21:14 strike well made and a chance to get 1:21:17 away again. And he's going to swing at 1:21:19 you once again with the wooden 1:21:20 longswords. 1:21:27 And as he does so, he's going to use 1:21:30 evasive footwork as well. And so, with 1:21:33 that he uh 1:21:36 is able to spend another one of his 1:21:38 bonus dice and disengages. So, he 1:21:41 swings, he misses you, but as he does 1:21:43 so, he's able to clear the distance 1:21:45 between you. You like move up to block 1:21:48 his swing, and he's already gone maybe 1:21:50 like 15 ft away from you. And he says, 1:21:52 "There you go, see? It can make a 1:21:54 difference, you know? It's just about 1:21:56 it's about the feet as much as it is 1:21:57 about the sword arm. You get a chance to 1:21:59 strike, but it's also a chance to create 1:22:01 space and prepare for an attack." 1:22:04 Very clever, Sir Alwyn. 1:22:06 Mhm, I can definitely teach you a thing 1:22:08 or two, it seems. 1:22:10 Brute force isn't always the answer. 1:22:13 Uh it's always worked for me in the 1:22:14 past, but I suppose I have come close to 1:22:17 death a few times, and some extra 1:22:20 footwork may have come in handy. 1:22:23 Much much appreciate these lessons 1:22:25 today. 1:22:26 Mhm, well, I think we've more to teach 1:22:28 each other, so bring it on. 1:22:30 And he raises his sword. 1:22:34 >> I come at him again with my great axe, 1:22:36 wooden. 1:22:40 And this time 1:22:42 21. 1:22:43 Very strong today. Let's see how much we 1:22:45 can hit for. 1:22:49 All right, five. 21 is good. You make it 1:22:52 under his guard, and you can tell that 1:22:54 he was ready for another strike, but you 1:22:56 surprise him. You faint at the last 1:22:58 second and go in with the the wooden 1:22:59 great axe. You clatter him in the ribs, 1:23:01 and he he kind of doubles over half 1:23:04 laughing and half in a little bit of 1:23:06 shock and winded. And he goes, "Oh, 1:23:08 the good 1:23:08 >> [laughter] 1:23:08 >> goodness me, have have mercy on an old 1:23:11 man." Yeah, never underestimate the 1:23:13 power of brute force. 1:23:15 Uh I certainly [laughter] 1:23:17 I won't underestimate it anymore. 1:23:19 My turn, I think. And he steps back in, 1:23:23 clears the distance between the two of 1:23:24 you, and is going to take another quick 1:23:26 swing. 1:23:27 And this time will he land? Oh my gosh, 1:23:29 this guy is crit failing. Oh my gosh, I 1:23:32 think I think you have winded him, and 1:23:34 he sort of he 1:23:35 takes a couple of steps towards you and 1:23:37 then sort of 1:23:38 holds out a hand and says, Isn't this 1:23:39 guy supposed to be schooling him? Yes, 1:23:41 he says, 1:23:44 "Perhaps my better fighting days are 1:23:45 behind me, but 1:23:46 >> [laughter] 1:23:47 >> I'm glad you're learning because you 1:23:48 could certainly be a better fighter than 1:23:50 I before long." 1:23:52 Uh what do you you lack in physicality 1:23:54 today, you definitely make up for in the 1:23:56 mind, so 1:23:57 no need to be so hard on yourself. 1:24:00 Uh I was I was always more of a 1:24:02 a tactician than I was a a warrior, but 1:24:04 that's how I end up being a teacher, I 1:24:06 suppose. 1:24:09 And I think the two of you maybe take a 1:24:12 a short break. He catches his breath a 1:24:15 little bit, and some good-natured 1:24:16 sparring continues as we move back to 1:24:19 town to check in with what 1:24:22 Ruby and Mr. Wizard are up to. 1:24:30 Wizard. 1:24:31 >> Ruby having just visited the jeweler 1:24:34 and Mr. Wizard and Mrs. Cat enjoying the 1:24:37 sound of the river. 1:24:39 Mrs. Cat just fished out a 1:24:42 fish. 1:24:44 >> [laughter] 1:24:47 [snorts] 1:24:47 >> That's a very impressive kitty. Wizard, 1:24:50 I have a lot of money now, but um Max is 1:24:53 chasing after a duck. 1:24:55 I'm kind of worried about him. 1:24:56 >> see I did see him chasing a duck. I told 1:24:59 him Mrs. Kitty would have taken it down, 1:25:01 but he didn't didn't 1:25:04 Do you think we 1:25:04 >> didn't bite on that. Should we sneakily 1:25:06 follow, or do you have something else 1:25:08 you need to do? 1:25:10 I'd like to buy an airship. 1:25:14 >> [laughter] 1:25:14 >> Oh okay. What about maybe like a they 1:25:17 have like 1:25:18 carriages, right? Around, probably. Do 1:25:22 they have a carriage salesman around 1:25:23 here? I think so. 1:25:27 Um 1:25:28 Mr. Wizard, make a perception check for 1:25:31 me, please. Okay. 1:25:34 Uh 1:25:35 mhm, 1:25:36 uh 1:25:37 yes. 1:25:40 Oh, actually clicked the right one. It's 1:25:41 a normal, correct? That'd be a normal 1:25:43 roll, yes. Okay, here we go. I'm 1:25:45 rolling. 1:25:48 A 13. 1:25:50 Uh 4 17 total, very good. Yeah, you you 1:25:53 have seen a carriage works in town. 1:25:56 The kind of place that would specialize 1:25:58 in the 1:26:00 uh the fashioning of carriages, carts, 1:26:03 and land vehicles of various sorts. 1:26:07 I see it. Ruby, Ruby. 1:26:10 Yes, Wizard. 1:26:12 Use your little legs. We're going on an 1:26:13 adventure. 1:26:15 >> [snorts] 1:26:15 >> Okay. 1:26:17 It's this way. I can sense a carriage at 1:26:19 a thousand clicks. 1:26:21 Is it is it [laughter] Okay, yeah, yeah. 1:26:22 Clicks. 1:26:24 So, uh south of the Cat's Tail Inn, Mr. 1:26:27 Wizard's I'm sure Max will be fine, 1:26:28 right? Max will be fine, right? 1:26:30 Max will be fine? [laughter] 1:26:33 Oh, he's just it's just a duck. He can 1:26:34 handle himself with a duck. 1:26:35 >> Yeah, he would say something if he 1:26:37 wanted us to come with us, right? He 1:26:39 would scream. Okay. 1:26:42 So, 1:26:43 Mr. Wizard, Ruby, and Mrs. Cat all make 1:26:46 their way over to the carriage works, 1:26:48 which is a 1:26:49 honestly one of the nicest buildings in 1:26:51 this region of town. Um it is this 1:26:54 fine-looking civic building. It has this 1:26:56 porch lined with pillars in like a 1:26:58 colonnade, and there's this sturdy 1:27:00 wooden cart wheel suspended in the 1:27:02 middle, which I think Mr. Wizard would 1:27:04 notice as a wheel of 1:27:06 pretty excellent quality. 1:27:08 As an expert in all things wheels, this 1:27:10 is this is a great place, Ruby. Probably 1:27:13 probably owned by Mr. Cogsworth himself, 1:27:15 if I wasn't mistaken. Cogsworth? 1:27:19 Oh, yes. Great great carriage salesman. 1:27:22 Have you owned a carriage before? 1:27:26 Yes, at one time I did. 1:27:29 And what happened? 1:27:30 >> bottom of the Great Lake. Oh. 1:27:33 I'm sure that won't happen a second 1:27:35 time. 1:27:36 Go on, get your carriage. 1:27:36 >> Well, that's actually my fourth. The 1:27:38 other one's down in the river, and the 1:27:39 other one's down a volcano, and one got 1:27:41 launched into the outer realm above us. 1:27:45 Are you are you sure you want a 1:27:47 carriage? 1:27:48 I'd love a new one. 1:27:50 Okay. 1:27:52 Is Ruby going to accompany Mr. Wizard 1:27:54 into the 1:27:54 >> Is Ruby going to accompany Mr. Wizard 1:27:56 into the carriage works? 1:27:57 >> the Wizard. 1:27:58 Okay, wonderful. 1:28:00 In that case, 1:28:01 we'll move you over to the carriage 1:28:02 works, and I'll make sure to add Ruby 1:28:04 and Mrs. Cat into the scene. 1:28:09 So, the inside of the carriage works is 1:28:12 just as grand as the outside. There's 1:28:14 this lovely tile floor as you enter, and 1:28:16 a massive emblem embedded into the floor 1:28:19 of various like cogs and and cart wheels 1:28:21 and 1:28:23 various like you know, logo of the 1:28:27 the carriage works here at at Nailbrook. 1:28:29 There are various attendants. One of 1:28:32 them sort of 1:28:33 steps out from behind this desk and 1:28:36 comes to to greet you as you enter. And 1:28:38 says, "Oh, hello. Hello. Welcome. 1:28:41 Welcome to the carriage works. My name 1:28:42 is Pillsbury. I'm the coachmaster here. 1:28:46 What to what do we owe the pleasure of 1:28:47 your visit?" 1:28:48 Oh, I knew a Pillsbury in another realm. 1:28:51 >> [laughter] 1:28:52 >> He was a funny fellow if you punched him 1:28:53 in the stomach. Anyway, we are here and 1:28:56 inquiring of a 1:28:58 great carriage. We need a carriage that 1:29:00 can carry both a a stout man, 1:29:04 a man who likes to do backflips, a cat, 1:29:07 and this little lady over here. 1:29:08 Wonderful person. Yes, yes, yes. Do you 1:29:10 have such a beautiful 1:29:12 Ooh. 1:29:13 You see, 1:29:14 yeah, further in there are lots of 1:29:16 carriages on display sort of on various 1:29:19 trestles and stands um as though sort of 1:29:23 trophies have been arranged, the finest 1:29:25 carriages that the uh carriage works 1:29:27 offers commercially. Um and uh Pillsbury 1:29:30 says, "Well, yes, this is these are all 1:29:32 our standard models. There's uh a 1:29:34 slightly sturdier iron version, of 1:29:36 course, but much, much heavier, um more 1:29:38 for carrying loads from the mines and 1:29:40 that sort of thing. Um but uh for 1:29:43 personnel transport, of course, these 1:29:45 are Well, they'll do for people much as 1:29:48 they will do for uh supplies and the 1:29:50 like. Um but we have various covered 1:29:52 wagons as well, if you'd like to step 1:29:54 through to the workshop." 1:29:55 Oh, I'd love to see your covered wagons. 1:29:58 Now, what kind of wood are we working 1:29:59 with today? 1:30:01 Uh only the finest oak from the uh uh 1:30:03 >> Oh. Quarter sawn or strip sawn? Or plain 1:30:07 sawn? Uh there's a quarter sawn here and 1:30:09 there and uh yeah, we have um a little 1:30:12 Nailbrook pine from up in the hills as 1:30:14 well. You mix pine with oak? 1:30:18 Oh, we never mix 1:30:19 >> think I'm a fool? I only take a solid 1:30:21 oak. 1:30:22 Of of course not. The the pine is its 1:30:24 own model, you see. And our Nailbrook 1:30:26 pine is quite sturdy, we have found. 1:30:28 When treated well, of course, with the 1:30:30 right stain and everything applied to 1:30:32 it, very, very hard-wearing on these 1:30:34 roads, especially with the northern pass 1:30:36 obviously being the majority of the 1:30:39 travel from here. Um and uh yeah, you 1:30:42 are ushered around the showroom uh this 1:30:44 sort of 1:30:45 step into my office kind of moment. 1:30:47 Ruby? 1:30:49 Yes, Wizard. 1:30:49 >> Don't let him trick you. 1:30:51 Pine is not a sturdy wood. We're looking 1:30:53 for a We're looking for quarter sawn 1:30:54 white oak. 1:30:56 We'll take nothing less. 1:30:58 Do you have enough money for this? 1:31:02 >> [laughter] 1:31:03 >> You'll see me work my magic. 1:31:06 I am. And uh 1:31:08 Ruby sort of follows along as Mr. Wizard 1:31:10 is is brought around and uh some 1:31:13 wheeling and dealing happens. Um but 1:31:16 yeah, various uh various models of cart 1:31:18 are shown to you. There are some with 1:31:19 like cover and half cover and like a 1:31:22 sheltered uh spot for the rider and um 1:31:25 the uh attendant is very keen to show 1:31:27 you all of the carriages under 1:31:29 construction and the the sort of various 1:31:31 teams of artisans like gnomeish and 1:31:34 human all sort of working on the various 1:31:37 uh bits and fastenings and uh and 1:31:39 tinkerings that happen with some of the 1:31:42 uh the sturdier carriages. Cool. 1:31:44 >> And uh 1:31:45 eventually Pillsbury says, "Um well, if 1:31:47 you'd like to to step through to our our 1:31:50 uh office here, I can talk you through a 1:31:52 list of prices if you're interested in 1:31:54 purchasing one. Um Oh, of course, of 1:31:56 course. I'd love to get a turd on top of 1:31:58 these. Put a nice big crossbow on top. 1:32:00 That would be wonderful. 1:32:02 Uh well, I think a a crossbow would 1:32:04 certainly be Are you looking for siege 1:32:07 weaponry? Perhaps you've come to 1:32:08 >> He's 1:32:09 just a carriage. 1:32:12 Right you are. Right you are. I'm I'm 1:32:13 I'm not familiar with this uh Forgive 1:32:15 me. I I take this so seriously often 1:32:17 when you say 1:32:18 >> sense of humor, this wizard, but he does 1:32:20 want a carriage. 1:32:21 Oh, what a great carriage. I want a 1:32:24 carriage when people see us coming, they 1:32:26 take note. 1:32:28 Well, absolutely. Well, um then you'd 1:32:30 probably want the covered wagons. That 1:32:31 really makes a a good impression. You 1:32:33 can do what you want with designs on the 1:32:35 top awning and so forth. I don't like 1:32:37 getting wet, so a covered wagon is a 1:32:39 must. Mm, absolutely. And and certainly 1:32:42 has enough load to carry your 1:32:44 companions. As you said, you were 1:32:45 traveling with with many, uh not just 1:32:47 the the young lady here and the uh Where 1:32:50 is the Where's the cat got to? 1:32:52 I don't know [laughter] where Mrs. Cat 1:32:53 has gone to. I even had a a two other 1:32:56 companions that are gone and apparently 1:32:57 there was a duck involved at one point. 1:33:00 We're quite the party. 1:33:02 Sounds like you keep some interesting 1:33:03 company. Well, um let me let me talk you 1:33:06 through our our price list. A covered 1:33:08 wagon um would be a standard model would 1:33:11 be 45 gold pieces, uh 55 if you want the 1:33:14 deluxe model. Of course. That comes with 1:33:17 all of the extra trimmings and we can 1:33:19 embroider whatever design you wish upon 1:33:21 the the side and everything. Um then 1:33:24 you'll be after some sort of pack beasts 1:33:26 to drive it uh pre- presuming your cat 1:33:29 is perhaps a little a little small for 1:33:31 the job. Uh 1:33:33 a donkey or a mule would cost you eight 1:33:35 gold pieces. A draft horse would 1:33:37 certainly be 1:33:38 a more sturdy beast, but would cost you 1:33:41 a good deal more, something in the range 1:33:43 of 50 gold pieces. And then there's bits 1:33:46 and bridles and a pack saddle for the 1:33:48 beast, of course. Um so you're you're 1:33:50 looking at somewhere in the range of uh 1:33:52 100 to 1:33:54 105 gold pieces if you want a a draft 1:33:57 horse and the deluxe model cart. 1:34:00 Oh, we want the deluxe model and the 1:34:02 draft horse, of course, and maybe throw 1:34:03 in a cat scratching post in the back. 1:34:06 Oh, well, I'm I'm sure we have some odds 1:34:08 and ends of woods that will no doubt 1:34:10 amuse the cat, yes. Um 1:34:12 that'll be uh so so 105 if you're 1:34:15 willing to sign that off. We'd be happy 1:34:17 to furnish you with a cart. When do you 1:34:19 need it for? 1:34:20 We need it um immediately. 1:34:22 >> We need it for tomorrow. 1:34:24 Oh, for tomorrow. You must be leaving 1:34:26 with the Mithril Edge Caravan, right? 1:34:28 Well, yes, yes. No, we we can 1:34:30 >> on a egg. We're on a quest for an egg or 1:34:32 something. A duck egg. 1:34:34 >> to Mithril Edge. 1:34:35 Right you are. Well, yes, no, this will 1:34:37 be a an eye-catching caravan on your 1:34:39 travels, I'm sure. I'm sure. And he 1:34:41 starts sort of drafting up various 1:34:43 ledgers and things. Hold on. Hold on. 1:34:46 Since this is such an important deal and 1:34:48 we're going on such an important 1:34:49 mission, couldn't you strike a deal for 1:34:51 us? 1:34:54 Can I do any like any Can I roll 1:34:57 anything to get like a super deal? Uh 1:34:59 you can certainly try and make a 1:35:00 persuasion check. What are you trying to 1:35:03 uh throw in? Like what How are you 1:35:04 sweetening the pot for this deal? 1:35:07 Good question. 1:35:09 Um 1:35:10 I want to get this for nearly free. Oh 1:35:12 my god. 1:35:13 >> [laughter] 1:35:15 >> That's going to make a That's going to 1:35:17 be a pretty high roll. Um but uh yeah, 1:35:20 like how how are you trying to uh to 1:35:22 persuade Pillsbury that he should give 1:35:24 you this wagon? 1:35:25 >> the town, Sky. Use that. Yeah, yeah, 1:35:27 good. Yeah. Okay, I'll do the towns and 1:35:29 we saved the town from the fever chills 1:35:32 and the horse. So I could I could 1:35:35 It could be paying us back for all the 1:35:37 the uh the deeds that we did for the 1:35:38 town. 1:35:40 All right. Um so yeah, you you you start 1:35:43 to explain this. As you're explaining 1:35:45 that you're you're actually the saviors 1:35:46 of the town, roll me a persuasion check, 1:35:48 please. Okay. Persuasion. 1:35:52 Uh oh, wait, not 1:35:55 Wait, where is it? 1:35:56 Where's 1:35:59 Oh, persuasion. Oh my god, I was I had 1:36:01 my key on it. Okay, normal roll. 1:36:04 Okay, throwing that. 1:36:06 Oh dear. Ooh. 1:36:07 >> That's a an eight. An eight, yeah. Um He 1:36:10 says, "Well, I'm 1:36:12 This all sounds like quite the the tall 1:36:14 tale um to be honest with you and you 1:36:16 know, I I've I admit that there is some 1:36:19 ring of truth to it. We had We all had 1:36:21 these sort of odd dreams and feverish 1:36:23 feelings, but just a a passing fancy. 1:36:25 These things sweep through the town. No, 1:36:27 no, no, I I I I I couldn't I couldn't 1:36:29 possibly allow that to factor into this. 1:36:31 I mean, I've I've a business to run 1:36:33 here, you understand. And uh 1:36:35 Yes, frankly, I think there's um 1:36:37 there's very little else I can do. If 1:36:38 you don't have the coin, I'm afraid we 1:36:40 can't offer it for anything less. Unless 1:36:42 you want to downgrade the covered wagon, 1:36:44 at which point you'd be paying maybe 10 1:36:46 gold fewer, so something in the region 1:36:48 of 95, perhaps. 1:36:50 What if I threw in a fine dress, Ruby? 1:36:53 Hand over your dress. NO, WHAT? THAT'S 1:36:55 NOT PART OF THE I 1:36:57 Absolutely not. 1:36:59 >> I'm certainly not going to barter for 1:37:00 the young lady's dress. This is not that 1:37:02 kind of establishment. Please, like show 1:37:04 some decency in this place. 1:37:06 >> Sorry. 1:37:07 A a house of heritage. 1:37:10 Well, 1:37:11 jeez. Oh, golly gee. How much money do 1:37:13 we have the with the pair of us? 1:37:16 Oh, golly. Wizard, 1:37:18 I'm not contributing to this wagon 1:37:20 dream. I only have 25 gold. 1:37:23 Why did we come here? 1:37:26 That'll That'll barely buy you a donkey 1:37:28 in these parts, I'm afraid. 1:37:30 Although an an open cart I could let go 1:37:33 for maybe 15 gold and perhaps you could 1:37:35 find somebody to sell No, no, I think 1:37:37 No, I think we maybe we have a a mule 1:37:39 that we can let go for eight gold, so 1:37:42 that would come to 23 total. Wizard, 1:37:46 Yes. 1:37:46 >> we go follow Max up into the woods and 1:37:49 we go get those eggs? Maybe the eggs 1:37:50 will sell for gold if they're really big 1:37:52 eggs, and then you can afford the wagon. 1:37:55 That's a great plan. 1:37:58 That's a great plan. I quickly turn, 1:37:59 just for fun, and I poke Pillsbury in 1:38:01 the stomach and he goes, "Hee hee." 1:38:03 And then we off. 1:38:05 >> [laughter and gasps] 1:38:05 >> Uh I'm going to Any more persuasion 1:38:07 checks against Pillsbury will now be 1:38:08 rolled with disadvantage and uh 1:38:11 >> [laughter] 1:38:12 >> you guys head out of the carriage works. 1:38:13 All right, we are going to 1:38:15 >> guy. 1:38:16 Uh well, I I I shall keep this paperwork 1:38:18 on hold in case you return for later. We 1:38:20 will. And uh yeah, you guys make your 1:38:23 way out of the carriage works. 1:38:24 >> Why did you poke him? 1:38:26 >> [laughter] 1:38:27 >> It's It's a Pillsbury Doughboy thing and 1:38:30 it's it's such a weird reference to 1:38:31 people from the UK who don't get it. Um 1:38:35 So, Max, we're going to we're going to 1:38:36 head over to Max. 1:38:38 Um because 1:38:40 uh the duck leads you out of town. 1:38:45 And uh you head up through uh this 1:38:48 forest, sort of uh obediently following 1:38:51 this duck as it uh 1:38:54 as it as it sort of goes. It's sort of 1:38:56 hopping from rock to rock and 1:38:57 occasionally kind of fluttering up into 1:38:58 the trees. Does it backflip? 1:39:01 It It It might occasionally do a 1:39:02 backflip. Uh I'm going to We'll leave it 1:39:05 here for a second. 1:39:07 >> Yes. Um I I'll get through this bit of 1:39:09 description and and we'll we'll we'll 1:39:11 resolve what happens next. But uh yeah, 1:39:13 after you've been walking for about 1:39:14 maybe 30 minutes or so, you're sort of 1:39:16 outside of town, you can distantly see 1:39:19 the town wall. You start to see um like 1:39:21 a couple of little rubbly structures by 1:39:24 the side of the path, and there are 1:39:25 these statues. Um some of which seem to 1:39:29 be kind of like pointing in the 1:39:30 direction that the ducks seems to want 1:39:32 you to go. 1:39:33 Um and after maybe 10 15 minutes more 1:39:36 walking on this sort of rough forest 1:39:38 path, it widens into a clearing where 1:39:40 there are actually a few overgrown 1:39:42 flagstones sunk into the ground. There 1:39:45 are these like weeds and brambles 1:39:46 growing up from them. 1:39:48 And there are a few standing stones, a 1:39:50 few large slabs that look like they've 1:39:53 fallen. They're perhaps the pillars of 1:39:55 some sort of disused shrine. 1:39:58 And a few more of these statues are 1:39:59 posed nearby, and a lot of them look 1:40:01 kind of quite detailed in their 1:40:02 carvings. 1:40:03 Um they have sort of simple clothing, uh 1:40:06 like common folk. 1:40:07 And 1:40:09 amid this pile of rubble in the center 1:40:11 of this glade is a massive tangle of 1:40:14 twigs and shrubbery laid in the fashion 1:40:16 of an enormous bird's nest. 1:40:19 And from where you're standing, you can 1:40:20 just about make out the rounded edge of 1:40:22 a large blue-gray egg speckled with 1:40:26 spots of brown. 1:40:29 And I think we'll run the ad there. 1:40:31 All right. 1:40:39 Is anybody else's forest not loaded? 1:40:43 Mine loaded. 1:40:44 Oh, mine loaded. It took a a minute, but 1:40:46 it did load. 1:40:47 >> take a little bit. Mine is still not 1:40:48 there. 1:40:48 >> [clears throat] 1:40:49 >> I definitely I'm going to 1:40:53 not admit that I ran ads as soon as we 1:40:56 go into the forest. Oh yeah, no 1:40:58 [laughter] worries. 1:41:01 Love you guys. Sorry. 1:41:02 >> [clears throat] 1:41:03 >> It is what it is. Pays for the show. 1:41:06 Uh 1:41:07 I'm trying to see if there's anything I 1:41:08 can do to help Gem's forest. 1:41:11 >> stuck. 1:41:13 Weird. Let me try um 1:41:16 activate this again. Yeah, switch to the 1:41:18 map. 1:41:18 >> cannot switch scenes until resource 1:41:19 finish loading. 1:41:21 Oh, no. Huh, weird. 1:41:22 >> even let you switch back now. You're 1:41:24 stuck. 1:41:25 Uh-oh. Maybe maybe 1:41:27 uh it's still loading. 1:41:28 >> X? 1:41:31 Uh I don't know. 1:41:32 >> Maybe. I don't know. Uh or maybe try 1:41:34 like quitting out of Foundry and 1:41:35 reloading possibly. 1:41:37 >> Just log out and back in. 1:41:40 What happened during the ads? We're in a 1:41:42 We're in a clearing that 1:41:44 has some ruins and some statues of 1:41:46 people in common folk outfits, and there 1:41:48 is a giant nest in the middle 1:41:52 with some eggs in it. It's kind of what 1:41:54 you can see, to be fair. Pix did 1:41:55 describe what is here. 1:41:59 I got it now. 1:41:59 >> I did so far this day, I went and like 1:42:02 worked out while you guys went shopping. 1:42:04 >> [laughter] 1:42:07 >> I mean 1:42:09 it seems perfectly in character all of 1:42:11 this to me. I don't know what the 1:42:12 [laughter] 1:42:14 I don't know what the problem is. So, if 1:42:15 I investigate here, Pix, am I you going 1:42:18 to tell me the same stuff you've just 1:42:19 told me or 1:42:21 You can absolutely roll perception. 1:42:23 Okay. 1:42:25 All right, is everyone's ads done? Ads 1:42:27 done. 1:42:28 Mhm. 1:42:29 All right. So, I am the duck sort of 1:42:32 like 1:42:34 dancing around this place. Like I'm 1:42:35 clearly in the right place, 1:42:37 and I've picked up on that. So, I'm 1:42:39 going to I'm going to 1:42:40 take a good look around and just assess 1:42:42 the situation with my perception. 1:42:49 Oh, yikes. 1:42:50 10. 1:42:51 >> with a 10, um 1:42:53 you're able to spot the one thing that 1:42:56 you hadn't seen about this scene up 1:42:57 until now, maybe because it blended in 1:42:59 with the twigs of the nest, but standing 1:43:03 over these eggs 1:43:05 is 1:43:06 something that looks more lizard than 1:43:08 bird. 1:43:10 It's about half your size, huge for the 1:43:13 types of birds Max has seen before, and 1:43:16 while its neck and head are feathery, 1:43:19 it walks on two bird-like talons. The 1:43:21 rest of its body is this 1:43:23 ugly reptile 1:43:25 hybrid. Like it's almost like reptile 1:43:27 bat. 1:43:29 Um 1:43:30 roll me a nature check quickly to see if 1:43:33 you recognize what this is. Okay. 1:43:36 You might have heard stories about 1:43:37 these. 1:43:38 I do have some nature in me as well. 1:43:41 Here we go. 1:43:43 That's not bad. 1:43:44 A 17. You're pretty certain from the 1:43:47 descriptions you've seen and occasional 1:43:48 sketches you've seen of them that this 1:43:50 is a cockatrice. 1:43:53 And as 1:43:54 >> Do I know that they're good or bad? Uh 1:43:57 you know that they are incredibly 1:44:00 protective of their eggs. 1:44:03 And as you make this realization, 1:44:06 this thing locks eyes with you. 1:44:09 Uh 1:44:10 it dashes at you from the nest, and we 1:44:13 are going to roll initiative. Ah, great. 1:44:16 >> Are you IN COMBAT BY YOURSELF? 1:44:20 He's not the only one this session, so. 1:44:23 Uh where's initiative again? There it 1:44:25 is. 1:44:26 Normal. 1:44:30 Ooh, the cockatrice was so close to 1:44:31 rolling a natural 20. Um but you act 1:44:34 before it. You see this thing like 1:44:36 getting ready to leap at you, 1:44:38 but you get to act first. And I'm going 1:44:41 to change up the music so that we have 1:44:42 something a bit more appropriate as Max 1:44:45 decides what to do. 1:44:51 Is running an option? 1:44:54 Uh running might be an option. Hold on. 1:44:57 How far away am I from town? If I played 1:45:00 my bagpipes really loudly, 1:45:03 >> [laughter] 1:45:03 >> would 1:45:05 I will I will honestly say, if you want 1:45:07 to give me a performance check and play 1:45:09 your bagpipes to see if you can summon 1:45:11 help, Yeah. 1:45:12 >> I will I will absolutely let that 1:45:13 happen. 1:45:14 >> we're on the way. Yeah, Ruby and Mr. 1:45:16 Wizard are on the way. And I did say not 1:45:18 yet. Yes. 1:45:19 >> So, it's kind of in 1:45:20 >> our way. Yeah, it's it's in the cuz I if 1:45:24 if I can get them to speed up, it might 1:45:26 get their arrival in time for the fight 1:45:28 or you know, a couple of turns. Uh what 1:45:31 was it? Performance? Performance, yes. 1:45:33 And go ahead and blow those bagpipes. 1:45:36 Oh, okay. Yeah, okay. 1:45:46 So, uh 1:45:49 >> [music] 1:45:50 >> I think who couldn't. Distantly back in 1:45:53 the town of Nailbrook, Ruby and Mr. 1:45:54 Wizard, you do hear the lilting strains 1:45:57 of bagpipes being blown on the wind, but 1:45:59 it is very far off at this stage. Uh so, 1:46:03 it's going to take you 1:46:05 quite a while to get there, especially 1:46:06 since Max was walking for like 30 1:46:09 minutes or so. 1:46:10 >> Wizard, 1:46:11 how's your jogging? 1:46:14 I'm taking ginormous strides forward. 1:46:17 >> [laughter] 1:46:18 >> I'm running next to him while he's just 1:46:19 walking. 1:46:21 >> I can imagine for a second that Ruby is 1:46:23 like jumping from tree to tree going 1:46:25 really fast, like going through, and Mr. 1:46:27 Wizard is running full pelt going 1:46:30 >> [laughter] 1:46:34 >> Okay, so I guess that is my action, 1:46:35 isn't it? To summon help a bit quicker. 1:46:37 Your action has been to play the 1:46:39 bagpipes, and what an excellent use of 1:46:41 that action. Um right, this thing is 1:46:44 yeah, going to be able to fly over to 1:46:47 you. It has a flight speed of 40 ft. And 1:46:49 so, it charges directly at you. Let me 1:46:52 get off the ruler view here, and yeah, 1:46:54 it moves 35 ft towards you and is going 1:46:56 to peck at you with its beak. Okay. 1:46:59 >> Uh we're going to make that attack roll. 1:47:05 And it rolls a 13. Does 13 beat Max's 1:47:08 armor class? No, I have 15. Okay, 1:47:11 fantastic. So, this thing snaps at you 1:47:12 with its beak, but you're like ready for 1:47:14 it at this point. You put the bagpipes 1:47:16 away, and you're able to dodge out of 1:47:18 the way. So, 1:47:19 uh 1:47:20 turn order goes back to you. What do you 1:47:21 do? 1:47:23 Okay. 1:47:24 You know, I never really get to use my 1:47:26 mace very much in in so far, so I think 1:47:29 I'm just going to whack it one. 1:47:31 Fantastic. Roll for that mace. Right. 1:47:36 This thing has this sort of like almost 1:47:37 bony carapace to it, but it doesn't look 1:47:39 like it's very well armored. A 23 1:47:41 absolutely hit. So, go ahead and roll 1:47:43 mace damage. 1:47:45 Where was that? Oh yeah, damage. 1:47:48 A normal hit. Mhm. 1:47:50 Oh, come on. 1:47:52 >> Oh, well that's still a five cuz you get 1:47:54 plus four because of your strength 1:47:55 modifier. So, that is not bad. All 1:47:57 right, this thing takes five damage. You 1:47:59 You clock it upside the beak, and uh 1:48:02 yeah, it it immediately comes back 1:48:04 snapping for more and is going to take 1:48:06 another bite at you. 1:48:07 Let's see how it does. 1:48:14 All right, and that's a 17. So, I 1:48:15 believe that hits, correct? 1:48:17 >> hit, yeah. Okay, fantastic. It's going 1:48:19 to roll 1:48:21 uh damage, and I will need you 1:48:26 to make a constitution saving throw for 1:48:29 me, please. As you take five points of 1:48:31 damage from the bite of this thing, you 1:48:33 feel like there is something else going 1:48:35 on here. 1:48:37 Oh. 1:48:39 Oh, but that halfling luck kicks in, AND 1:48:40 YOU 1:48:41 I 1:48:42 ROLLED A TWO ONE. WHAT? 1:48:45 >> [laughter] 1:48:45 >> Oh my goodness. Okay, well, 1:48:47 unfortunately, uh constitution saving 1:48:49 throws Yeah, it's a crit fail, but like 1:48:52 crit fails only really count in combat. 1:48:54 So, this doesn't have any additional 1:48:55 effect other than you fail the save. 1:48:59 And with the first failure of this, 1:49:02 um you feel that the 1:49:05 bite of this thing has done something to 1:49:08 you. 1:49:09 Uh and like you start to feel your skin 1:49:13 stiffening where it bit you. Like 1:49:15 something like maybe it bites you on the 1:49:16 leg or the arm or something like that 1:49:18 and you feel like your muscles kind of 1:49:20 tensing up. Um this is going to apply 1:49:23 the restrained effect to you. 1:49:26 Um which means that you can no longer 1:49:30 move. Your speed is reduced to zero, 1:49:32 which means you're stuck in place. 1:49:34 And uh your attack rolls are going to 1:49:36 have disadvantage. Now note this is 1:49:39 attack rolls, that doesn't necessarily 1:49:40 affect your spell casting. Um but you 1:49:43 have disadvantage on dexterity saves and 1:49:46 attack rolls against you also have 1:49:48 advantage. 1:49:51 That's not good. Uh then it's back to 1:49:53 your turn though. So, what does Max do 1:49:55 as he feels his skin like start to seize 1:49:57 up and stiffen? 1:49:59 Right. Have I got anything that helps me 1:50:01 out of this problem? 1:50:04 No, Max. flips 1:50:06 I have cure wounds. 1:50:08 >> Only you asked your friends to come with 1:50:09 you. 1:50:11 Uh His new friend is a duck. 1:50:16 He traded us in for a duck, wizard. 1:50:24 We're going to have a roast duck after 1:50:25 this. Command, help me. It's all here. 1:50:28 Uh I don't believe so because I don't 1:50:30 know if these things 1:50:33 understand language. And I think command 1:50:36 you like part of the spell is you have 1:50:38 to be able to understand a word of 1:50:40 command. Um let me check the wording on 1:50:42 that, but I will I will 1:50:44 I will see. 1:50:47 I I mean it it does just say a creature 1:50:48 you can see within range has to make a 1:50:50 wisdom saving throw. So, maybe it does. 1:50:54 Um 1:50:55 >> Cuz if I can I need to I'm I'm turning 1:50:57 to stone. I need to 1:51:00 do something. 1:51:04 Can you call the duck? Help him. I can 1:51:06 tell the cockatrice to flee, but I can't 1:51:08 move. 1:51:09 >> Yeah. No, I mean command doesn't say 1:51:10 anything about it them needing to 1:51:12 understand it. It might just be like 1:51:14 from a spiritual sort of It's It's a 1:51:16 cleric spell. So, yeah, I think you 1:51:18 could try using command to get it to run 1:51:20 away. 1:51:21 Yeah. 1:51:24 That seems like 1:51:27 Well, I'm at a disadvantage at whatever 1:51:29 I do. Mhm. And I just need to buy myself 1:51:32 some time, I think. Yeah. 1:51:35 Okay. So, I'm going to try I'm going to 1:51:36 try command. I'm going to tell it to go 1:51:38 away. 1:51:40 Okay, fantastic. 1:51:42 >> How do I cast that? Do I have to clip 1:51:43 cast a clip cast spell? Yes. I'll say 1:51:46 flee. 1:51:48 And this thing is going to make a wisdom 1:51:51 saving throw. It may surprise you to 1:51:52 learn that this thing has a plus one in 1:51:55 wisdom. Um What? 1:51:57 But we'll see how it does. Here we go. 1:51:59 Okay. 1:52:05 It just about succeeds matching your 14. 1:52:08 Um so, this thing kind of clock clucks 1:52:11 furiously. I think you sense that 1:52:13 something about its um like its desire 1:52:16 to protect its nest is what has 1:52:19 prevented the command from actually 1:52:21 working. Like you get the sense that 1:52:23 this thing's instinct is overriding your 1:52:26 uh even your spell casting ability at 1:52:27 this point. And uh with that being 1:52:30 everything Max can do on this turn, the 1:52:31 cockatrice is going to step in and take 1:52:33 another attack with its bite. 1:52:37 And it's going to have advantage on this 1:52:39 roll because you're currently 1:52:40 restrained. 1:52:42 Um and it rolled a 21 to hit. So, it's 1:52:45 going to be able to inflict a bit more 1:52:47 damage on you. 1:52:49 Um which is another five damage from the 1:52:52 cockatrice. 1:52:54 >> Are you going to die? 1:52:56 I'm pretty I'm hurting. 1:53:01 All right. The next thing that has to 1:53:03 happen is you need to roll another 1:53:05 constitution saving throw. 1:53:08 Because you feel that stiffening move 1:53:11 like that that stiffening feeling kind 1:53:12 of moving up your body into your 1:53:14 shoulder at this point. 1:53:18 And that's a 1:53:19 >> Max. 1:53:20 Max. 1:53:23 And that stiffening feeling hits your 1:53:25 chest and accelerates. You feel it 1:53:27 moving through you and 1:53:29 you recognize too late that some of the 1:53:31 statues around this clearing were so 1:53:34 finely worked that they could not have 1:53:36 been anything other than real people who 1:53:38 were turned to stone. 1:53:41 And that seems to be your fate as well 1:53:43 as Max Blunder 1:53:45 becomes a statue here in this clearing. 1:53:50 No. 1:53:52 Oh, no. And combat is going to end 1:53:54 there. 1:53:57 Mr. Wizard and Ruby, you begin your walk 1:54:00 up [snorts] to this clearing. We're 1:54:02 running. Um You're running still, yeah. 1:54:04 You 1:54:04 >> [laughter] 1:54:05 >> You You begin the climb, sorry, up to up 1:54:07 to this clearing. 1:54:09 Um and I'm going to change the music to 1:54:10 something a little different here 1:54:13 um as we 1:54:18 as we continue this scene. 1:54:20 There we go. All right. 1:54:24 Max. 1:54:28 You don't know how long it is. You don't 1:54:29 know how long it's been. Your eyes are 1:54:31 sort of glazed over looking inwards. 1:54:36 You feel something 1:54:38 land on top of your head. 1:54:42 There is a soft 1:54:44 cracking sensation 1:54:47 and the feeling of some sort of liquid 1:54:50 slowly oozing down the side of your 1:54:52 head. 1:54:55 Then you realize that you can feel 1:54:58 your head again. 1:55:00 Then you realize that you are 1:55:02 thinking 1:55:04 and your eyes are open and something is 1:55:06 still balanced on top of your golden 1:55:08 hair, but the rest of your body feels 1:55:10 numb. 1:55:12 You feel whatever is on your head push 1:55:14 off. You hear the flap of wings and a 1:55:17 bird-like shape 1:55:19 flutters down in front of you. 1:55:22 The duck lands on the flagstones and 1:55:24 turns to face you. 1:55:27 Blimey, that was a close call, kid. You 1:55:29 was almost architecture. 1:55:37 What? 1:55:39 Behind the duck 1:55:41 the cockatrice stands frozen in its nest 1:55:45 completely unmoving. 1:55:47 As though it itself has turned to stone, 1:55:49 although you can sort of see this slight 1:55:51 twitching to it. 1:55:54 Is it just my head that can move right 1:55:55 now? Yes. 1:55:57 I mean it it like the rest of your body 1:55:59 is slowly starting to come to life, but 1:56:01 you you get this this sort of ooze 1:56:03 dripping down you and um you start to 1:56:06 smell it it sort of smells loosely like 1:56:08 an egg. 1:56:10 Yeah, I think I got I got the picture 1:56:12 that there was an egg [laughter] on my 1:56:13 head. 1:56:18 Have I died? Are you real? Do a 1:56:20 backflip. 1:56:22 Oh. 1:56:23 Blimey, here he goes again with the 1:56:26 do a backflip, do a backflip. Gosh. 1:56:30 I'd say your head's just for decoration, 1:56:31 but frankly the rest of you is for 1:56:33 decoration. Your head's the only thing 1:56:34 that's moving. 1:56:35 Um 1:56:37 All right. All right. Give me a second. 1:56:38 I will attempt to backflip. 1:56:41 Uh 1:56:42 the duck rolls to backflip. 1:56:46 Gets a 12. Uh so, I think it sort of 1:56:49 flaps its wings like does a little quick 1:56:51 loop-de-loop and then lands back in 1:56:53 front of you. There. Happy? 1:56:56 Yes. 1:56:57 It's you. 1:56:59 >> [laughter] 1:57:00 >> Um 1:57:03 What's going on here? Why can you 1:57:05 suddenly talk? You've never talked to me 1:57:07 before, not even once. Always quack. I 1:57:10 have talked, lad. You just weren't 1:57:11 listening. 1:57:14 I don't speak duck. Mhm. Lucky for you, 1:57:18 I speak What are we speaking right now? 1:57:21 Is it common? 1:57:22 Probably common. 1:57:23 I mean 1:57:25 it might just be some other language 1:57:26 that I can speak to you in your head. 1:57:28 But we're still we're we're speaking. 1:57:33 Well, I've I've f- this a bit, haven't 1:57:36 I? 1:57:37 Mhm. One could say. One could say, but 1:57:41 you know. 1:57:42 I think there have been 1:57:44 worse things happened to heroes. 1:57:47 Uh getting bitten by a chicken is pretty 1:57:49 low bar. Losing to cockatrice. 1:57:54 Well, well. 1:57:55 Wouldn't say you've entirely lost, have 1:57:57 you? I mean, look at that thing. 1:57:59 Can't move a muscle right now. And you 1:58:01 have unexpected allies in your corner. 1:58:06 Go go on. 1:58:10 What's my name, lad? 1:58:13 Duck. 1:58:14 I mean 1:58:16 Ah. 1:58:17 >> [laughter] 1:58:19 >> It's good to see that works. No, lads. 1:58:21 No, I'm not Bros. 1:58:23 That blockhead wouldn't lift a finger to 1:58:24 save you. 1:58:25 It's a numbers game, see? Why bother 1:58:27 with divine intervention when you've got 1:58:29 millions leaving offerings at your 1:58:31 altar. 1:58:32 But in my case I 1:58:34 I had no alternative. 1:58:36 Cuz I need you. 1:58:41 You need me. 1:58:42 Yeah. 1:58:44 Yeah, yeah, yeah. 1:58:45 You've 1:58:46 Be honest with me now. 1:58:49 Man to man, well, man to duck. 1:58:53 You've never really been a follower of 1:58:54 Bros. 1:58:55 All of this stuff it's it's pageantry, 1:58:57 all of it, you know, the holy symbol on 1:58:59 the shields, the the amulets, the blah 1:59:02 blah blah blah blah. I could I could 1:59:03 sense the sarcasm. 1:59:06 The begrudging way that you adhered to 1:59:07 the basic tenets of the faith just to 1:59:09 please your high and mighty mentor. All 1:59:12 part of the plan. All calculated. My way 1:59:16 of siphoning faith from my absurd 1:59:19 brother. 1:59:21 Blaine. 1:59:23 That's it, lads. 1:59:25 My name's Blaine. 1:59:27 It was Blaine the Lucky once upon a 1:59:29 time. But these days 1:59:31 I'm making my own luck. 1:59:36 So Bros has never listened to me. 1:59:39 Mhm. 1:59:41 You could say that. You could say I've 1:59:43 been 1:59:44 intercepting your calls. 1:59:48 Here's the thing about faith. 1:59:50 Right. And the the duck seems to sort of 1:59:53 step away for a second. I will also 1:59:55 share with you the other duck that I 1:59:57 have in this uh fantastic art that is 1:59:59 here. So let's see if this extremely 2:00:01 important conversation happening 2:00:03 [laughter] to a mallard duck. 2:00:07 THIS IS WHAT 2:00:08 >> [laughter] 2:00:09 >> OH MY GOD. AS THE CONVERSATION continues 2:00:13 uh 2:00:14 >> [laughter] 2:00:15 >> This is this is the aspect Blaine the 2:00:17 Lucky takes on. 2:00:19 Says, 2:00:21 "When you've got entire cultures who 2:00:23 believe in you, right? 2:00:25 You start to 2:00:26 you start to waste it. You get 2:00:28 comfortable with abundance. You leave 2:00:30 food on the plate. You don't cherish the 2:00:33 taste anymore. 2:00:35 But when you're faced with scarcity 2:00:38 every scrap matters to you. 2:00:41 And you start to focus on 2:00:43 cultivation. 2:00:45 How can I refine this rough stone 2:00:49 into something beautiful? 2:00:52 Now you you've always believed in 2:00:54 something else. Something 2:00:57 a bit less stuffy and traditional. 2:00:59 Something cutting edge. 2:01:02 I am that something. 2:01:04 I think you've always 2:01:06 in an old way believed in me. 2:01:10 And I'm glad you did, lad, because I've 2:01:13 honestly started to believe in you. 2:01:18 Even though I've been following 2:01:21 your brother or on paper at least. On 2:01:24 paper, that's the trick, you see. On 2:01:26 paper. 2:01:27 Where's the contract? It's what you feel 2:01:30 in your heart, lad. 2:01:32 Well, Rufus always told me that Bros was 2:01:35 the way to go. And that you weren't to 2:01:37 be 2:01:39 talked to. 2:01:43 I feel like Rufus and I 2:01:45 might have seen eye to eye. 2:01:48 But here's 2:01:49 here's the long story for you. Eons ago 2:01:53 my brother 2:01:54 my brother got tired of having 2:01:58 to give me my share of the fun. 2:02:02 So he decided to pull a prank. 2:02:04 And in his usual way 2:02:07 he wildly overestimated the effects. 2:02:10 While I was manifest here on the 2:02:12 material plane 2:02:14 he got me kicked out of the Pantheon. 2:02:17 Contrived to absorb my followers into 2:02:19 his own. 2:02:20 And my influence all but disappeared. 2:02:23 And only a handful on the fringes 2:02:25 continued to believe. 2:02:28 But within that holy symbol, the artist 2:02:29 palette that you always see in shrines 2:02:31 to Bros, there is a bit that if you 2:02:33 twist your head just right 2:02:35 it looks like a duck. 2:02:37 >> Like a rabbit. A rabbit. 2:02:40 I could have been a rabbit, lads. 2:02:43 But I think the duck Like a a duck. Yes, 2:02:46 yes. I've always I've always said it's a 2:02:47 duck. 2:02:49 And that was my way back in. Enough 2:02:51 belief concentrated on the duck 2:02:54 gave me the window I needed to gain back 2:02:55 a little bit of power. 2:02:57 And it's that power I can give to you. A 2:03:00 little bit at a time until you build up 2:03:02 more of a tolerance for it. This he sort 2:03:04 of gestures with his wing over to the 2:03:06 cockatrice that's still kind of held in 2:03:08 place by whatever force he's able to 2:03:10 exert over it. He says, 2:03:13 "This isn't the kind of magic I can 2:03:14 share with you right now unless you want 2:03:16 your brain to fall out of your backside. 2:03:19 But in time, lads 2:03:22 command over the elements 2:03:25 command over creatures like this. And 2:03:28 when you're ready, lads 2:03:30 I'm going to ask you to help me with my 2:03:31 biggest scheme yet. 2:03:34 Cuz I want my old life back. 2:03:37 If you like a scheme, then that's 2:03:39 why I need you. 2:03:41 I need one of two things from you. 2:03:43 Either you travel the road doing deeds 2:03:45 in my name. Spread the divine influence 2:03:48 of Blaine the Lucky. 2:03:50 And rally other people who will believe 2:03:52 in me. 2:03:53 Prove to the other gods that I'm still 2:03:54 here and still worthy of my seat at the 2:03:57 table. And your power grows along with 2:03:59 mine. 2:04:00 Or 2:04:02 you and I 2:04:03 carry out the most cosmic heist in 2:04:06 history. 2:04:07 We break into the house of the gods. 2:04:11 Confront them on their home turf. And 2:04:13 kick their butts for ever daring to mess 2:04:15 with us. And Max Blender 2:04:18 gets to carve his name into history. 2:04:23 I'm so 2:04:24 pondering it and I 2:04:26 start to sort of move my hand and shake 2:04:29 off this stony 2:04:31 feeling. 2:04:35 You're the master 2:04:38 of the arts of deception. 2:04:41 How do I know 2:04:43 that you are not deceiving me right now? 2:04:50 That's the trick, lads. 2:04:52 You don't. 2:04:55 But 2:04:59 try casting a spell without me. 2:05:04 Shall I try? Yeah, go for it. 2:05:08 I'll try I'll try just to see this 2:05:11 through. I'll try casting cure wounds on 2:05:13 myself. 2:05:17 And as you try 2:05:24 nothing happens. 2:05:29 The duck has this like concentrating 2:05:32 feeling. Like he's he's sort of 2:05:35 emanating this aura and you can tell 2:05:36 he's like squinting ever so slightly. 2:05:41 So if I check this 2:05:42 This might be worth me just putting this 2:05:44 to bed so I can absolutely go down this 2:05:46 path. 2:05:47 I'm going to roll for 2:05:49 uh insight. 2:05:52 Is that right? Yeah, roll for insight. 2:05:55 To try and figure this duck out. Yeah. 2:06:00 Please give me a decent number. 2:06:03 18. 2:06:04 An 18 is pretty good. 2:06:06 You were talking to a duck. 2:06:09 And that seems like an absurd enough set 2:06:11 of circumstances as it is, but 2:06:14 the cockatrice that so easily ran at you 2:06:17 earlier 2:06:18 is now frozen in place on the nest 2:06:20 behind you. And 2:06:23 you feel this pull towards this duck in 2:06:27 the way that you felt it earlier in the 2:06:29 shrine when you were trying to reach out 2:06:31 to something divine in that space. And 2:06:36 something about it just clicks for you. 2:06:38 You think this might just work. It's the 2:06:41 most absurd possible thing it could be, 2:06:44 but 2:06:46 you trust this duck. 2:06:49 Possibly with your life. 2:06:52 I look him dead in the eye. 2:06:56 And I 2:06:57 crap my eye and I salute the duck. 2:07:00 And I just say 2:07:02 quack. 2:07:05 I knew you'd come around, lads. 2:07:10 Let's get back in the fight, yeah? 2:07:12 And the cockatrice starts to move again. 2:07:15 Wait. Wait. Wait. 2:07:18 You're two You and Bros are two sides of 2:07:20 the same coin, correct? 2:07:23 Yes. 2:07:25 So do I need to change my shield? Do I 2:07:27 need Does this Is this still okay Is 2:07:29 this good? Do I need to draw a rabbit 2:07:31 duck on it? 2:07:33 We'll work on it, lads. We'll work on 2:07:35 it. 2:07:37 The duck is going to roll initiative as 2:07:39 well. 2:07:40 >> [laughter] 2:07:41 >> No way is the duck going to fight. Yeah, 2:07:43 he is. Uh 2:07:46 All right. The duck 2:07:47 rolled a 20 uh but has a minus one for 2:07:50 dexterity, so it is a 19. And the 2:07:52 cockatrice rolled a three. Max, roll me 2:07:55 initiative and let's get back in the 2:07:56 fight. 2:07:57 >> [snorts] 2:08:04 >> 13. Fantastic. Okay. So uh Blaine is 2:08:07 going to go first. Um Blaine is going to 2:08:10 head back over here. 2:08:13 We'll say he has about 20 ft of 2:08:14 movement. He is flapping and waddling 2:08:16 his way in that direction. 2:08:18 >> [laughter] 2:08:20 >> And he's going to break his 2:08:21 concentration for the uh hold monster 2:08:24 spell he was using. 2:08:26 And he is going to cast 2:08:32 mass cure wounds. 2:08:36 Uh and that's going to affect Max. 2:08:43 You are healed for 31 points of damage. 2:08:47 Jeez. 2:08:48 >> [laughter] 2:08:51 >> And he says, "Okay, kid, you're up. Show 2:08:53 them what you got." 2:08:55 With renewed confidence that only Max 2:08:58 Blender could have, I sort of break out 2:09:01 of whatever this 2:09:02 poison is that the cockatrice 2:09:05 had over me 2:09:07 and step 2:09:08 forward. 2:09:10 Oh, what do I do? Do I want to cast 2:09:11 something big or do I want to go and 2:09:13 mace it in the face? 2:09:18 I'm also going to remove that restrained 2:09:20 effect since we have resolved that now. 2:09:22 Just pure damage. What's best for me? 2:09:25 Uh 2:09:26 doesn't look like much difference. 2:09:28 Guiding bolt does 2:09:30 What? 2:09:32 Help me out here, Pix. Guiding bolt does 2:09:34 4 D 6 radiant damage. Yeah. And the next 2:09:37 attack roll made against the creature 2:09:40 has advantage, so you could guiding bolt 2:09:42 and then follow up with a mace next 2:09:44 round. 2:09:45 Um 2:09:45 >> Yeah. Okay. Sacred flame is the other 2:09:47 one, but that doesn't do as much damage. 2:09:49 Yeah, I'm going to I'm feeling really 2:09:51 like invigorated by my new sense of 2:09:53 purpose and connection with the gods 2:09:55 that I was struggling with for so long. 2:09:57 And I'm just going to 2:09:59 aura this guy. 2:10:01 All right, fantastic. You can make this 2:10:02 attack roll with advantage since the 2:10:03 cockatrice is still shaking off the 2:10:05 effects of the hold monster. 2:10:10 A 24 absolutely hits, so go ahead and 2:10:12 roll damage for guiding bolts. 2:10:14 Damage. 2:10:15 Normal. 2:10:17 Kaplow. 2:10:19 Oh, that's huge. You absolutely nailed 2:10:22 this thing in the chest for 18.7 of 2:10:25 damage. It's immediately like thrown 2:10:28 backwards by the force of that. 2:10:30 Obliterate. 2:10:31 >> [laughter] 2:10:32 >> Yes, it 2:10:33 it takes an absolute ton of damage and 2:10:35 when it emerges from the edge of the 2:10:36 nest, it is enraged, but it is already 2:10:39 like clearly messed up. It sort of 2:10:41 hobbles out from the nest and with its 2:10:43 turn, 2:10:45 it's going to fly towards you and 2:10:47 attempt another bite. So, we're going to 2:10:49 go ahead and roll that. 2:10:55 I'm so glad that rolled high for the 2:10:57 aura moment. Yes, absolutely. 2:10:59 A 15 meets your armor class, right? 2:11:02 Yeah. Okay, great. So, this thing is 2:11:04 going to hit. 2:11:05 >> [snorts] 2:11:06 >> Um oh, hang on. Sorry, I rolled the 2:11:08 wrong one. Dice. 2:11:11 There we go. This time it only does two 2:11:12 points of damage and you feel that 2:11:14 whatever that petrifying feeling is just 2:11:16 like you brush it off this time like 2:11:18 it's nothing to you at this stage. 2:11:20 Um so, you take two points of damage, 2:11:22 but that is all and it's back to 2:11:25 Blaine's turn, but he continues to move 2:11:27 away from this angry bird 2:11:29 as far as he can. 2:11:31 Um 2:11:32 so, yeah, he's going to be back here and 2:11:33 says, "You got this, lads." 2:11:37 No no fireball, no laser beam? 2:11:40 Listen. 2:11:43 Myth Reach wasn't built in a day. 2:11:45 It's about building you up, so you've 2:11:46 got the power to take on what I can give 2:11:48 you. 2:11:50 Right. And with with that then, I draw 2:11:53 my mace out. 2:11:57 As I assume the duck's not doing 2:11:58 anything. Uh the duck is not doing 2:12:00 anything. It is your turn. Yeah. 2:12:05 Oh, come on. 2:12:06 >> 14 hits. 14 hits. Go ahead and roll 2:12:07 damage. 2:12:12 Kaplow. 2:12:15 Nice. And with six damage, this thing is 2:12:17 on its last legs. It's going to get a 2:12:19 chance to bite at you one more time. 2:12:23 Um 2:12:25 but at this point, it is rolling with 2:12:26 disadvantage because it's barely able to 2:12:29 stand. I think that's still going to hit 2:12:30 though with a 17. 2:12:32 Um so, it's going to deal one more 2:12:35 D 4 and a bit of damage to you for three 2:12:38 points of damage. This thing nips at 2:12:40 your leg almost half-heartedly at this 2:12:43 point. Um just trying to do whatever it 2:12:45 can to protect its eggs. Um but Max, you 2:12:48 have a chance to land the final blow. 2:12:50 Yeah, I'm going to look look down on it. 2:12:52 And really aura fire and step step 2:12:55 forward to the side, slap the mace up 2:12:57 above. 2:12:59 Like really bring down the hammer. If 2:13:01 this misses, I'm going to be so upset. 2:13:08 No, with a 17, that definitely connects. 2:13:10 Roll that damage and let's see how you 2:13:11 end this thing. 2:13:17 All right, with 2:13:19 eight points of damage with that mace 2:13:20 attack, 2:13:21 uh the cockatrice 2:13:24 crumples to the ground under the force 2:13:25 of your mace. 2:13:27 And we are out of combat. 2:13:32 I sort of turn to Blaine and go, "Lucky 2:13:33 we didn't panic." 2:13:35 >> [laughter] 2:13:36 >> I knew you had it in you, lads. 2:13:38 And uh at this point, I think Ruby and 2:13:40 Mr. Wizard arrive on the scene. So, bear 2:13:42 with me while I draw the characters. 2:13:44 >> scene. Yes, we will we will run and add 2:13:47 that. I think I think it already went, 2:13:50 but all right. 2:13:53 That was awesome. That was 2:13:55 >> [laughter] 2:13:55 >> that was cool. That kind of played out 2:13:57 narratively very well. The dice are 2:14:00 excellent collaboration. 2:14:03 >> [laughter] 2:14:04 >> He's picked the alien to talk to. 2:14:05 >> you chose duck? Was it Pix or Grain? 2:14:10 Uh-huh. 2:14:13 >> [laughter] 2:14:15 >> Now, Max isn't a statue anymore, is he? 2:14:18 No, no, no. I'm I'm out of just 2:14:20 >> Okay. 2:14:21 I was 100% going to tell Ruby we could 2:14:23 sell the statue for the carriage. 2:14:25 Or does it sound like Max has just been 2:14:27 quacking to us as we approach? I mean, 2:14:30 you you arrive as he lands the final 2:14:33 blow on the cockatrice. So, yeah, Max, 2:14:37 you you you see Max just like absolutely 2:14:39 pulverized this 2:14:40 like mutated lizard bird bat hybrid in 2:14:44 front of you. Right. Um You You just saw 2:14:46 me aura fire and just absolutely 2:14:48 decapitate this cockatrice. 2:14:50 >> looks like he's talking to himself, 2:14:51 right? Like we don't know anything about 2:14:52 the duck. The duck's gone. 2:14:56 Right. 2:14:59 All right, I got 20 seconds. Can we get 2:15:01 a small recap? 2:15:03 Um I just obliterated a cockatrice after 2:15:06 finding my god. 2:15:08 That is the small That is the best small 2:15:09 recap I can do. 2:15:12 God appeared to him in the form of a 2:15:13 duck and said, 2:15:15 "Let's break into the Pantheon." 2:15:17 basically. Yeah. And 2:15:20 gave him the power he needed to 2:15:21 absolutely whomp a cockatrice. 2:15:24 >> [laughter] 2:15:25 >> Also, did the duck poop on his head at 2:15:28 one point? It felt like there was there 2:15:29 was some implied poop. 2:15:31 It laid an egg. Egg just 2:15:34 dropped down. 2:15:35 >> [snorts] 2:15:36 >> That was great imagery and all that. 2:15:41 Man, what if I didn't turn to stone? 2:15:44 >> [laughter] 2:15:45 >> I mean, it could have happened that way. 2:15:46 Yeah. 2:15:48 Could have missed it. All right, we're 2:15:48 back. 2:15:50 The dice are 2:15:51 >> time I've just been in the tavern just 2:15:52 drinking pints after pints. 2:15:54 >> [laughter] 2:15:56 >> Yeah, I I I think I think Rohini and Sir 2:15:58 Alwyn have moved on to like beers with 2:16:00 mates after 2:16:01 after a hard day's work. We got a pack 2:16:03 of cards. 2:16:04 And yeah, Ruby and Mr. Wizard, you 2:16:06 arrive breathless and and panicked 2:16:09 having heard Max's 2:16:11 shrill bagpipes. You arrive in a forest 2:16:13 clearing to see him standing with his 2:16:15 mace over the decapitated corpse of 2:16:18 this cockatrice, which Mrs. Cat seems 2:16:20 very interested in. 2:16:22 Nice of you to show up. 2:16:25 Max, the Oh, I found the eggs. 2:16:28 G- good job. Was it easy? What happened? 2:16:32 I'm not keen on sharing the details of 2:16:37 exactly what this duck is asking me to 2:16:39 do because 2:16:40 I I feel like 2:16:43 the the the heist and the deception is 2:16:46 something I'm keeping to myself for now. 2:16:48 Uh as I There there's a chicken guarding 2:16:51 the egg. I'll be honest, the eggs are 2:16:53 disproportionate to the chicken, so I 2:16:54 don't really want to think about how it 2:16:56 laid them, 2:16:57 but 2:16:59 there they are. Do you think we could 2:17:01 sell them? Wizard wanted a carriage. 2:17:04 I was hoping they were gold. They're 2:17:06 some kind of blue. That won't fetch a 2:17:08 [laughter] handsome price. 2:17:10 >> I'm eating these eggs. I'm just going to 2:17:13 put that out there right now. You are 2:17:14 not selling these eggs. You have not a 2:17:16 chance. 2:17:17 >> Not a chance on this earth are you 2:17:20 taking those eggs to sell for two or 2:17:22 three gold. Not a chance. They are going 2:17:25 in my stomach. 2:17:25 >> Hold on. We should see how much they're 2:17:26 worth before they go in your stomach. 2:17:29 Max, I don't think you understand. We're 2:17:31 getting a carriage of courtesan way 2:17:33 home. 2:17:33 >> they're worth like 50 gold? Would you 2:17:34 want to eat 50 gold? Why do we need a 2:17:36 carriage? We're getting a our own 2:17:38 caravan tomorrow. We're just joining the 2:17:40 parade or whatever. 2:17:41 >> join a caravan without a caravan 2:17:43 yourself, you fool. 2:17:45 We could use hitch on one of theirs. 2:17:48 With our eggs. 2:17:51 You don't want to have your own? 2:17:55 I don't need I Can't you cast one? 2:17:59 I can cast a hoverboard. 2:18:02 But that's a personal hoverboard. 2:18:05 Well, I'm sure we could all cram on it. 2:18:06 Let's I'm going to go up and let's have 2:18:08 a look at these eggs. Why am I so small? 2:18:11 Yeah. 2:18:12 I'm going to go up to these eggs and 2:18:14 have a little investigate. 2:18:16 I will say that the eggs 2:18:19 look probably too big for you to carry 2:18:22 on your own. 2:18:24 And Mr. Wizard could carry one or and 2:18:27 Ruby could carry one. 2:18:29 We could also get a cart that would 2:18:32 carry all three of them. 2:18:34 I I think this might be a hoverboard 2:18:37 situation. 2:18:41 Hoverboard us. Can I 2:18:43 Can I cast 2:18:44 >> it bowl shaped, please? 2:18:48 Can I create the the test the test 2:18:51 the Tenser's floating discs to carry all 2:18:53 three eggs. Absolutely, you can. Yes. 2:18:56 >> But can you make sure it's bowl-shaped? 2:18:59 If it's flat, they're just going to roll 2:19:00 off. 2:19:02 I am casting a spell to create a 2:19:05 as Max would say, a bowl that is big 2:19:08 enough to carry all three eggs. 2:19:12 All right. Fantastic. Yes. These eggs 2:19:15 are even bigger than I thought if 2:19:16 they're hard to carry. 2:19:20 That's why we should sell them. 2:19:22 It is it Yeah, I think something about 2:19:24 the the 2:19:25 size of the eggs makes it really 2:19:27 difficult to like get your arms around 2:19:28 and you're worried about breaking them 2:19:30 on the walk. And so, yeah, I I think I 2:19:33 think Mr. Wizard's disc is apparently 3 2:19:35 ft in diameter, which is a decent sort 2:19:38 of size. 2:19:39 So, yeah, it's just about enough that 2:19:40 like, you know, you you you 2:19:43 pack a bunch of like, you know, twigs 2:19:45 and moss around them so they don't move 2:19:47 around as much, but 2:19:48 yeah, Mr. Wizard is able to hoverboard 2:19:51 these eggs successfully and you now have 2:19:53 a bunch of eggs floating on a a little 2:19:55 platform that's going to follow you 2:19:57 around as you make your way back to 2:19:59 town. 2:20:03 Is it the cockatrice didn't have 2:20:04 anything, did he? 2:20:06 No, the cockatrice 2:20:07 didn't have any loot 2:20:09 dropped. I assumed so. 2:20:10 >> [laughter] 2:20:11 >> It's a chicken. It's it's it's mangled 2:20:13 body is lying on the ground, but I think 2:20:14 the eggs at this point are the loot 2:20:16 because yeah, you've you've at least 2:20:18 heard from Hal that they're going to 2:20:19 make a heck of an omelet and who knows, 2:20:21 there might be some people in town who 2:20:23 are interested in parting with 2:20:24 >> you can do to these statues to bring 2:20:26 them back. 2:20:27 Um 2:20:28 No, if you want to roll a um 2:20:32 roll me another like 2:20:34 this will be like a history check. I 2:20:36 think yeah, give me a history check. 2:20:39 Wizard, you're up. You've got all the 2:20:40 history, right? 2:20:42 Oh, yes. Let me take a look here. 2:20:44 >> got, what have you got, what have you 2:20:45 got, Scar? 2:20:47 At my history number? I've got plus two 2:20:49 on history. 2:20:50 I got plus six. Yeah, all right. You're 2:20:54 up, Patrick. 2:20:56 All right, I'm rolling. What? Oh, come 2:20:59 on. 2:21:00 >> [laughter] 2:21:00 >> COME ON. 2:21:03 MR. WIZARD, you immediately understand 2:21:07 what's been going on here. Like there's 2:21:08 the cockatrice is on the ground. You've 2:21:10 heard of cockatrices before. You 2:21:11 recognize that there are some very kind 2:21:13 of fine statues. It's a miracle that Max 2:21:16 wasn't turned to stone himself because 2:21:17 cockatrices are known for doing this 2:21:19 sort of thing. And yeah, you recognize 2:21:21 that like after a little while the 2:21:23 effects of it wear off the way that 2:21:25 spells tend to do. This this is more 2:21:28 like a 2:21:29 a natural kind of toxin secreted by the 2:21:31 cockatrice, but it is something that 2:21:34 only petrifies people for given length 2:21:36 of time. Sometimes it's as short as a 2:21:38 day, sometimes it's as long as a week, 2:21:40 but these people may just be here as, 2:21:42 you know, they've been kind of foraging 2:21:44 for for stuff recently. And if there are 2:21:47 any sort of disappeared people in town, 2:21:49 yeah, maybe they'll find their way back 2:21:51 to town before long. 2:21:53 You know, 2:21:55 it was good we did show up here because 2:21:57 these people may turn back into humans 2:21:59 again and we could use that as bartering 2:22:01 chips for the wagon to say that we saved 2:22:03 the town again. 2:22:05 That didn't work the first time you did 2:22:07 it. I don't know why it would work the 2:22:08 second time. Hillsbury and I have a 2:22:10 special connection now that I poked him 2:22:12 in the stomach. Travis, are you saying 2:22:14 that these statues are just going to 2:22:16 turn back to normal? He's saying they're 2:22:18 people. 2:22:18 >> Yes, yes. Give them time, time and 2:22:20 they'll start turning themselves back. 2:22:22 You You were bitten by the cockatrice. 2:22:25 Correct? 2:22:25 >> how how did you avoid being a statue? 2:22:28 Yeah, that's a good question. You should 2:22:30 be a statue, young man. 2:22:31 >> That's a miracle. 2:22:33 I look I look I look Ruby dead in the 2:22:36 eye and do a backflip. 2:22:38 >> [laughter] 2:22:44 >> Oh, it's the best one yet. At least the 2:22:48 best one this session. Uh And then I 2:22:50 just shrug like this and I just I turn 2:22:52 and walk 2:22:53 >> away from him. I'm just like 2:22:55 >> [laughter] 2:22:57 >> All right. Fantastic. I I think every 2:22:59 >> taking these statues with us. 2:23:01 We'll leave them here. The statues 2:23:03 perhaps a little bit too heavy, but Mr. 2:23:05 Wizard is pretty confident that they 2:23:06 will return to normal. 2:23:08 >> And 2:23:09 >> And we'll use it for bartering. 2:23:11 And we will gather everybody back in the 2:23:13 town of Nailbrook and I will try and 2:23:15 remember where everybody is on the map. 2:23:18 Lovely. All right. So, I'm going to drag 2:23:20 you all back to the Cat's Tail Inn. 2:23:22 Cat included and Max is up here. 2:23:27 Yeah, the duck is gone at this point. 2:23:29 You do not know where Blane the Lucky 2:23:31 has disappeared to, but he does seem to 2:23:33 have wandered off. Um and is Yeah, you 2:23:37 hear the the occasional sort of faint 2:23:39 quack as you make your way back down 2:23:41 from the 2:23:42 the the hills above Nailbrook to the 2:23:44 town. And Max, I think you take that as 2:23:46 perhaps he's still watching you from 2:23:48 somewhere, although you're not entirely 2:23:50 certain 2:23:51 I've got an inexplicable 2:23:54 grin and I'm generally so happy. As my 2:23:57 character, as you may have noticed from 2:23:59 the sessions, has never really connected 2:24:02 with the holy aspect of being a cleric. 2:24:06 He's quite adept at being a cleric, but 2:24:08 has never found true connection. You saw 2:24:10 when I was in the temple that I wasn't 2:24:12 really into it and I had enough of it. 2:24:14 But this proposition from a strange duck 2:24:17 has got given me a new sense of purpose. 2:24:22 And so yeah, Max has an extra spring in 2:24:24 his step somehow and you're you're 2:24:25 wondering why just beating up this 2:24:27 strange lizard bird thing is making Max 2:24:29 so happy, but maybe Ruby and Mr. Wizard 2:24:32 don't question all that much. Well, he 2:24:34 backflipped, that's enough. 2:24:38 All right. You meet Brohiny Dude Stone 2:24:40 back at the Cat's Tail Inn. Brohiny has 2:24:42 already had like several pints and seems 2:24:44 to be making quite merry at this stage. 2:24:47 Where have you guys BEEN ALL DAY? OH, 2:24:50 YOU MISSED IT. 2:24:51 YOU MISSED EVERYTHING, RIGHT? Next time 2:24:53 we're not splitting up. I'm telling you, 2:24:55 we stick together. 2:24:57 You should have seen Sir Alwyn taught me 2:25:00 the sickest moves. You want to see them? 2:25:01 I'll show you right now. 2:25:03 Uh let's let's do rolls for some 2:25:06 acrobatics up in here, guys. You got to 2:25:08 see this. It's so cool. What did he 2:25:10 teach you? I'LL SHOW YOU. HOLD ON A 2:25:13 SECOND. 2:25:14 Where's my acrobatics? I'm going to show 2:25:16 you right now. 2:25:17 >> learn how to parry in this 2:25:19 >> Oh, DEAR. WELL, THAT WASN'T THE BEST 2:25:21 I'VE SEEN TODAY, but it was something. 2:25:24 The 2:25:25 the parry he attempts is sort of like a 2:25:28 a backflip parry of his own division 2:25:30 that doesn't quite land, but yeah, you 2:25:33 get the sense there is a little gleam in 2:25:34 Brohiny Dude Stone's eye. He has been 2:25:36 taught a couple of things that might be 2:25:38 brought to bear at some stage. 2:25:39 >> Proud of you, Bro. 2:25:40 >> I'll show you tomorrow when I'm 2:25:42 feeling better. 2:25:43 You'll see. 2:25:45 >> [snorts] 2:25:45 >> So, what have you guys been doing all 2:25:47 day? What did you buy me? 2:25:49 We need a carriage. 2:25:52 Uh were we supposed to buy Bro a gift? 2:25:57 Yes. 2:25:58 I assume that's what you were going to 2:25:59 do when you went to the store and I went 2:26:01 to the Unless you fit into a dress that 2:26:03 fits a 4-ft tiefling, I don't have a 2:26:05 gift. I look I look in my pockets 2:26:08 and I I pull out the map. 2:26:11 Here you go. I chuck the map towards 2:26:13 him. 2:26:14 >> Max, you know I can't read this. I'll 2:26:17 tell you what, I'll put it back in my 2:26:18 pocket then. All right, anyway. 2:26:23 Well, I learned some sick moves. I'd I'd 2:26:25 love to hear what you guys have been up 2:26:26 to, though. 2:26:28 I think at this point Hal comes in and 2:26:30 sees the three giant blue eggs floating 2:26:33 on the hoverboard and says Just the man 2:26:36 I want to see in a time like this. Check 2:26:39 it out, Hal. Eggman, look at this. My 2:26:42 word, Mr. Blunder. I 2:26:44 I thought I'd never see another one of 2:26:45 these eggs in my lifetime. You brought 2:26:46 me three. 2:26:48 You've already 2:26:49 seen one of these. Oh, of course. You 2:26:51 said this morning. Yes, yes, yes, yes. 2:26:52 No, this is exactly the the the the the 2:26:54 egg that the adventure They never said 2:26:56 what the creature was or anything, but 2:26:58 perhaps they got away with a with with 2:26:59 an egg 2:27:01 from its nest. But you you found you 2:27:03 found three. Did Did you see the beast? 2:27:05 That obliterated it. 2:27:08 Wow, that's quite some prowess with the 2:27:11 mace you have there. I 2:27:13 >> [laughter] 2:27:13 >> wouldn't wouldn't want to meet you in a 2:27:15 fair fight. I say that, but 2:27:18 are we are we going to make an omelet 2:27:19 with these? 2:27:20 >> You're going to buy them off him. 2:27:21 Hal, scrambled, hard-boiled, 2:27:24 soft-boiled, what do you reckon? 2:27:25 >> Max, sell them. 2:27:28 Hal, 2:27:29 sunny-side up, what do you think? Have 2:27:31 you got a pan big enough? 2:27:33 Oh, I think I probably have a pan. I can 2:27:35 break out the wok. It's been a while, 2:27:37 but if we uh 2:27:38 we if we make the egg or like it'll 2:27:41 circulate at the base, it'll get all the 2:27:42 heat nice and good. I I I think maybe 2:27:44 turning it might be a little bit of a a 2:27:46 difficulty, but I I imagine I could do a 2:27:48 a huge fried egg with one of these. No, 2:27:50 I love this idea of a fried egg. How 2:27:53 much would you buy them for? What if we 2:27:54 ate one and sold two? Oh. 2:27:58 Oh, I'd say I mean, this could be a a 2:28:00 delicacy of sorts. People from all over 2:28:03 town would come and want a piece of this 2:28:05 grand fried egg. I'd say um 2:28:08 I mean, I could probably charge uh 2:28:10 a gold a pop and it would feed 20, so 2:28:13 perhaps 20 gold an egg? 2:28:19 You should sell all of them, Max. I like 2:28:22 the idea of cooking them. I'm hungry. 2:28:25 You guys are always thinking about your 2:28:26 stomachs. Do these eggs have any magical 2:28:28 powers or any other use other than 2:28:31 selling them? 2:28:33 Uh you want to make an Arcana check on 2:28:35 the eggs? Yeah, I kind of do. Just in 2:28:37 case we're not cuz this is a magic egg. 2:28:38 It's massive, surely. Uh Scar, what's 2:28:41 your Arcana? 2:28:43 Uh let me look. 2:28:45 >> [groaning] 2:28:46 >> Mine's plus two. 2:28:49 Arcana is 2:28:51 plus eight. Eight. 2:28:52 You are OP. All right. 2:28:54 >> [laughter] 2:28:55 >> Benjamin, what did the eggs say to you? 2:28:58 Oh, no. Let me pull out my wand. All 2:29:00 right. Arcana alana hula la. 2:29:04 That's [laughter] a magic spell. 2:29:06 >> That was definitely a spell. Well, maybe 2:29:08 it wasn't the right one. 2:29:10 Uh 2:29:11 >> [laughter] 2:29:12 >> Call out the rolls. Tell the people what 2:29:13 number you got. 11. 2:29:16 >> [laughter] 2:29:17 >> To be fair, that's you rolled a three 2:29:18 and you're still getting an 11. That's 2:29:19 pretty good. Um 2:29:21 I think these you've not heard of 2:29:23 cockatrice eggs being used in any spells 2:29:25 where other eggs wouldn't do. They're 2:29:27 fairly mundane eggs. They don't have any 2:29:29 kind of innate magical property to them. 2:29:32 >> [sighs] 2:29:33 >> Let's sell all the eggs and get some 2:29:35 steak. Thank you. 2:29:36 >> No. 2:29:38 You're really going to sell me all 2:29:39 three? 2:29:41 Well, I don't know what else to do with 2:29:42 them and I don't know how long Mr. 2:29:44 Jonathan can keep up this hoverboard. 2:29:49 I leave for two seconds and you get the 2:29:51 hoverboard out? What the heck? If we 2:29:54 take the eggs off, we can make you can 2:29:56 make a bowl. 2:29:58 It's uh it's starting to kind of flicker 2:30:00 a little bit at the edges and so you 2:30:02 sort of take take the take the eggs off 2:30:03 and put them on a table quickly and uh 2:30:06 Hal goes behind the bar and uh starts 2:30:08 counting out 60 gold pieces. 2:30:11 Is there I sort of say to the group is 2:30:12 there any world we don't want to hatch? 2:30:15 Can we have a pet cockatrice? 2:30:17 We already have a cat and I feel like 2:30:18 that's more than we can handle. 2:30:20 And we've got a duck wandering around. 2:30:21 Whatever happened to the duck? 2:30:24 Did you need to be Did you need to be so 2:30:25 close to me? Turns out it was just a 2:30:27 duck just really wanted me to go that 2:30:30 way. 2:30:33 Peculiar. Peculiar. Peculiar. I don't 2:30:36 believe you. 2:30:37 >> Whizzy, take your take your cat What is 2:30:39 it called? Get it away from me. I think 2:30:41 I'm allergic. 2:30:42 Oh, I'm so sorry Mr. Bro. Why don't you 2:30:45 stand on the uh the the hoverboard for a 2:30:47 minute and just have a little fun. Oh, 2:30:49 that sounds great. Thank you. I'll do 2:30:50 that. 2:30:52 Brohino dude then does some kickflips on 2:30:54 the hoverboard around the bar. 2:30:56 >> [laughter] 2:30:58 [snorts] 2:30:58 >> And I I have in my inventory the cracked 2:31:02 fire opal. 2:31:04 You do? 2:31:05 It does say it was once worth a thousand 2:31:08 gold and it now renders the much less 2:31:11 useful. Is 2:31:12 this I should have really I didn't get 2:31:14 an opportunity to sell this so I might 2:31:16 ask Hal how much it's worth or should 2:31:18 you Do you think I should keep it, 2:31:20 squad? Go to the jeweler. 2:31:23 Is it Do you think it's just a sell 2:31:24 thing or something to keep? 2:31:27 Well, we need a carriage. 2:31:29 We do need a carriage. 2:31:31 With that we could get an upgraded 2:31:32 carriage. How? 2:31:35 Uh yes, Mr. Blunder. Uh here's your 2:31:37 here's your 60 gold pieces if you're 2:31:38 happy for me to take these eggs off your 2:31:40 hands. 2:31:42 Are you cooking any tonight? 2:31:44 Oh, I expect so, yeah. We'll have a sort 2:31:46 of a grand opening. Limited time offer. 2:31:50 Give us 59 and just give us a a small 2:31:53 plate. 2:31:54 Oh, right you are, Mr. Blunder. 59 it is 2:31:56 and he takes one gold piece out and 2:31:58 hands you the bag. So, add 59 gold to 2:32:00 your inventory. Uh and I take this I 2:32:01 take the fire opal and I just sort of 2:32:04 hold it like this. You know 2:32:06 You You're for a bartender you seem to 2:32:07 know everything about everything. Do you 2:32:08 know if this is worth selling? 2:32:11 Oh, 2:32:13 I don't know. Gem sort of seems to have 2:32:15 lost its luster really, but um perhaps 2:32:17 the jeweler in town might be able to 2:32:18 make something of it. 2:32:20 Right. Okay. 2:32:22 Uh thank you. Hold on. I need to add 2:32:24 gold to my thingy. Was it 59? 59, yeah. 2:32:27 64. All right. Got a bit more gold now. 2:32:36 Should I head to the jeweler or should 2:32:38 we Are we going to 2:32:39 rest at the inn? 2:32:42 I need I need to just sell this for gold 2:32:43 if if we're selling it for gold, team. 2:32:45 Yeah, go 2:32:46 go go Let's go to the jeweler. 2:32:48 Yeah. We can we can sort of hand wave 2:32:50 that discussion a little bit. We'll say 2:32:52 you head over to the jeweler. The 2:32:53 jeweler sort of regards this cracked 2:32:55 opal and says, you know, maybe there's 2:32:56 like a little bit of it that could be 2:32:57 saved like a little bit that still has 2:32:59 its has its luster and um she'll take it 2:33:02 off your hands for 25 gold. 2:33:05 25? 2:33:07 25? I mean, the gem is cracked and 2:33:11 flawed at this point so I think it's 2:33:13 it's probably not going to fetch much 2:33:15 more than that when I resell it. 26. 2:33:18 Uh 26, fine. Sure. 2:33:21 I like those bordering terms. Yeah, I'd 2:33:23 like to 2:33:24 >> extra something. The negotiator. 2:33:30 All right. Okay. So, we're back in the 2:33:32 tavern now. The inn. 2:33:34 >> Yeah. 2:33:35 And yeah, you can remove the the cracked 2:33:37 fire opal from your inventory as well 2:33:39 and uh yeah. 2:33:42 So, the group is slightly richer. 2:33:44 Um uh at this point yeah, Hal uh 2:33:48 pries up this enormous egg 2:33:50 um 2:33:51 and uh yeah, various other townsfolk 2:33:53 sort of come in from the from the 2:33:54 markets and the the people who come to 2:33:56 the Cat's Tail Inn just for like a a 2:33:58 pint at the end of the day and they 2:33:59 smell this egg cooking and immediately 2:34:02 it's the talk of the town. So, more 2:34:04 people keep showing up and uh Hal drops 2:34:06 a plate in front of each of you first 2:34:09 and uh says uh here you are. This This 2:34:13 is quite quite the occasion and I think 2:34:15 you should have the first bite 2:34:16 considering that you are you know, 2:34:17 finders fee and all that. 2:34:20 Ah. Uh Hal 2:34:23 you're a delight. 2:34:24 I just scoff it. 2:34:27 Well, thank you very much, Mr. Blunder. 2:34:29 Bon appetit, everyone. 2:34:31 This is so good. 2:34:35 I always use my wand as a fork. 2:34:38 >> [laughter] 2:34:41 >> It's like chopsticks but there's just 2:34:42 one. 2:34:43 It's why you should never let Keith 2:34:46 ta touch you with his wand. It's 2:34:48 disgusting. 2:34:51 I would like to take a bite of the egg 2:34:52 and then put my plate on the floor for 2:34:54 the cat. 2:34:56 Mrs. Cat immediately like comes to scoff 2:34:59 up these eggs. 2:35:00 >> [laughter] 2:35:00 >> I'm still just hovering around on the 2:35:02 hoverboard while I'm eating. 2:35:05 I think that the hoverboard eventually 2:35:06 just dissipates and you fall out of the 2:35:08 air but you only fall like a foot or so. 2:35:10 So, it's just like a huh 2:35:11 >> [laughter] 2:35:11 >> then you're back on the ground. 2:35:15 It It only lasts an hour so I feel like 2:35:17 it had to run out at some point. That's 2:35:19 fair. 2:35:21 All right. Big day tomorrow, squad. 2:35:24 We're going to head out of town. Max 2:35:27 Where Where do you want to go exactly? I 2:35:29 mean, we're going to go follow this 2:35:31 caravan but 2:35:33 we've been traveling together for a long 2:35:35 time now. 2:35:37 What Should we separate? 2:35:41 Mith Reach sounds good to me. 2:35:46 Okay. I'm in. 2:35:48 Adventure awaits. 2:35:49 >> I know a good chap in Mith Reach. Ted 2:35:52 his name was. I'm off to bed. 2:35:56 I really hope we get in a fight 2:35:57 tomorrow. I want to show you my new 2:35:58 moves. 2:36:01 All right. Yes, Ted Todd. 2:36:04 He lives on 16th Willow Lane. I'm going 2:36:07 up the stairs. 2:36:09 >> [laughter] 2:36:09 >> Now is the time. 2:36:11 Everyone sort of retires to bed and uh 2:36:14 the following day dawns. Um everyone's 2:36:16 had a a good night's sleep. The eggs are 2:36:18 sitting well in the belly and uh yeah, 2:36:20 everyone just has a 2:36:22 a sound night's sleep. Um Mrs. Cat wakes 2:36:25 up Mr. Wizard by kneading on his face a 2:36:27 little bit. Uh just kind of like paws 2:36:30 immediately in the beard. 2:36:33 >> [laughter] 2:36:33 >> It still smells like incense. Yeah. 2:36:36 Yeah. 2:36:37 Um but uh yeah, uh the the the following 2:36:40 morning um 2:36:41 you know, everyone's sort of slept off 2:36:43 their their their late dinner of eggs 2:36:45 and uh is is feeling hale and hearty. Um 2:36:49 Hal sort of 2:36:50 bustles his way back around bringing 2:36:52 breakfast to everybody. 2:36:55 Shall we buy a carriage today, wizard? 2:36:58 I would love to buy a carriage. I've 2:37:00 been dreaming of the carriage all night. 2:37:01 I was remembering all my past carriages. 2:37:04 Max 2:37:04 >> have names. We need a name for our new 2:37:06 carriage once we purchase it. Max 2:37:08 Blunder, we are going to need your gold. 2:37:11 Or I'm just going to put that out. Just 2:37:15 hear me out for a second. I'm going to 2:37:17 lean in. We're not coming back to this 2:37:19 town, are we? 2:37:21 But no no probably not. You 2:37:25 Aren't you a thief? 2:37:27 I am 4 ft tall. I can't steal a 2:37:30 carriage. 2:37:32 No, not the carriage. Why don't we steal 2:37:34 the money from the carriage works and 2:37:36 use that money to pay for the carriage. 2:37:38 Henceforth, free carriage. 2:37:41 Uh 2:37:43 I could try. 2:37:45 You You want me to steal? 2:37:48 You're a thief. 2:37:51 Okay. You know you steal things? 2:37:53 Well, yeah. I'm pretty good at it. 2:37:55 >> relinquished your title here as 2:37:57 pickpocket? 2:37:59 No no no no no no. I'm great at it. I'm 2:38:01 great at it. I was just Normally people 2:38:03 don't like it. 2:38:04 >> have a go but I just don't think he's 2:38:05 going to manage it. 2:38:07 I actually think 2:38:08 Frank should stay here actually I think 2:38:11 cuz I I actually think he's vital to the 2:38:14 plan. Ruby 2:38:16 he 2:38:17 he's the talker, you see. You're the one 2:38:19 that nips behind gets the money and then 2:38:23 you know, presents it as the the fee. 2:38:25 All right. 2:38:26 We'll give it a try. 2:38:28 Uh if you're not if you're not into this 2:38:30 idea, I mean 2:38:32 we everyone forks up some money. 2:38:34 No, I'm I Let me see how much money I 2:38:36 can get us. 2:38:39 All right. If If in trouble, I'll be 2:38:40 there. We going to enter the carriage 2:38:42 works now. 2:38:44 All right, who's going? We're going to 2:38:45 end up in jail. 2:38:46 >> going. You're all going? All right. We 2:38:48 need to get out of this town now. We 2:38:49 need to get out of this town now. 2:38:51 >> [laughter] 2:38:51 >> All right, sick. Let me uh open up the 2:38:53 carriage works real fast. I'm going to 2:38:55 need to drag a couple of the rest of you 2:38:57 into the scene. We're going to need all 2:38:59 of us to to pull off this little heist. 2:39:02 Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, I'm looking forward 2:39:03 to it. All right, Max is there. 2:39:06 Um Bro is there. 2:39:08 And 2:39:09 >> luck, they won't be any any of the wiser 2:39:11 that they've been that anything's been 2:39:12 stolen. Mrs. Cat has transformed into a 2:39:15 different type of cat for some reason. 2:39:16 Okay, cool. That's 2:39:17 >> [laughter] 2:39:17 >> That's That's part of her pearl essence. 2:39:19 It's what she does. 2:39:20 Um Great. 2:39:23 So, uh you guys uh 2:39:25 open the door of the carriage works. It 2:39:27 is bright and early. Uh the two people 2:39:29 at the counter on the right-hand side. 2:39:30 Oh, there's Mrs. Cat. She's like over 2:39:31 here. Um She's She's already in the 2:39:34 scene. Um yeah, so so two people are 2:39:36 manning the counter. There seems to be 2:39:37 some sort of like um you know, postal 2:39:39 service thing in here cuz there's 2:39:40 carriages coming and going. 2:39:42 Um and so yeah, there's a couple of 2:39:44 people manning the desks, but they look 2:39:45 like they're still sort of you know, 2:39:47 rubbing their eyes early morning kind of 2:39:48 getting the getting the sleep out of 2:39:50 their eyes. And um yeah, after a while 2:39:53 uh you you hear some hustle and bustle 2:39:56 in the back uh and um you spot the form 2:39:59 of uh Pillsbury sort of moving back and 2:40:02 forth in the the the the main workshop 2:40:05 behind. So, uh what are you guys 2:40:07 planning to do? Run an ad. 2:40:10 Oh, yeah, good idea. 2:40:11 >> [laughter] 2:40:11 >> We're 2:40:12 We're We're running a heist. On Twitch, 2:40:14 yeah. 2:40:15 Yeah. 2:40:19 Um So, 2:40:21 behind the scenes plan, guys. I reckon 2:40:24 um 2:40:25 Scar, you need to run interference here. 2:40:28 I might send the cat to distract one of 2:40:30 them and then go on then take maybe a 2:40:33 >> is first. 2:40:34 >> Bro, and we have a conversation about 2:40:36 dwarves lifting each other up. 2:40:38 Yeah. 2:40:38 >> Perception checks first. We all need to 2:40:40 have a look around for the for where 2:40:42 they're keeping the money. 2:40:44 Okay. 2:40:46 All right, you can all roll those now if 2:40:47 you want to. I think Mr. Wizard and 2:40:49 Ruby, your perception might also apply 2:40:51 to retroactively to the areas that 2:40:53 you've been in here already. So, 2:40:56 Also, Scar, don't forget you can send 2:40:58 your cat 2:40:59 to go look as well. 2:41:00 Yeah. 2:41:01 Telepathically. 19. 2:41:04 It says Gemini Tay privately rolled some 2:41:06 dice. 2:41:07 >> Oh, wait, really? Privately? What? 2:41:09 >> Yeah, did you You did like a blind roll? 2:41:11 >> 11. No, I just clicked that like normal. 2:41:13 Weird. Um there's a bunch of icons above 2:41:16 the chat window that um I think one of 2:41:18 those you might have maybe clicked by 2:41:19 mistake at some stage cuz the public 2:41:21 roll 2:41:22 >> roll. on the left should be 2:41:23 >> I've clicked it now. 2:41:25 Yeah. 2:41:25 >> Self roll, private, public roll. 2:41:27 Yeah, should be public roll. But yeah, 2:41:29 no no worries. If you if you if you say 2:41:30 you got 19, Well, it's on screen, so I 2:41:32 can't lie about it. Yeah, there you go. 2:41:34 >> [laughter] 2:41:35 >> It's on It's on your screen, but not 2:41:37 mine. 2:41:37 >> my screen. I can't 2:41:39 Even as Even as the game master, I can't 2:41:41 then look at what dice you privately 2:41:42 rolled, which is really strange. But I 2:41:44 guess sometimes people roll stuff to 2:41:46 themselves, and that's also fine. So, um 2:41:48 yeah, with a 19, Ruby, you definitely 2:41:50 got the impression that a lot of the um 2:41:52 the coin that exchanges hands before it 2:41:54 gets taken to, you know, wherever they 2:41:56 they store it long term happens in the 2:41:58 office that you had the meeting in 2:42:00 earlier. Like, you know, there there 2:42:01 would be 2:42:02 a a drawer in the desk somewhere that's 2:42:04 probably got some some coin in there. Um 2:42:08 Everybody else, um you kind of get the 2:42:09 lay of the land. Um Mr. Wizard, 2:42:11 obviously you you've had a had a tour of 2:42:13 this place, so you know it pretty well. 2:42:15 Um so you know where to send Mrs. Cat to 2:42:17 be most distracting. Um Bro and Max, you 2:42:20 get the sense that this place is a um 2:42:22 like a a fairly 2:42:24 like 2:42:26 uh what would you say? Like formal kind 2:42:29 of place. Um but 2:42:31 it seems like the two people who are on 2:42:33 duty right now aren't really paying a 2:42:35 ton of attention. Um And Ruby seems 2:42:38 intent on somewhere in the back. Guys, 2:42:40 we got it. We I got to get back in the 2:42:42 office. You guys got to keep them out of 2:42:44 the office. 2:42:46 Okay, so I look at Bro and raise my 2:42:48 eyebrows like best behavior time. 2:42:51 Cuz that's all I've perceived from this 2:42:53 situation. 2:42:56 I send my cat to knock their letters 2:42:58 onto the ground. 2:42:59 Okay, cool. 2:43:00 >> Slowly just one letter at a time. One of 2:43:02 the attendants goes, "Hey, stop that. 2:43:04 Who Who let this cat in here?" 2:43:06 Wizard, you got to 2:43:08 You got to talk to Pillsbury. Mr. 2:43:09 Pillsbury. 2:43:11 >> [laughter] 2:43:13 >> Oh, it's um I'm surprised to see you 2:43:15 back. I was expecting you yesterday. Oh, 2:43:17 come forward. I I brought my friend Bro 2:43:19 here. He has some great stories of 2:43:21 wagons from the dwarven lands. 2:43:23 Oh. Oh, yeah. 2:43:25 Lovely stuff. 2:43:26 >> always had good relations with the 2:43:27 dwarves 2:43:28 back in the day. We never 2:43:30 We never sold them wheels because you 2:43:32 see, the dwarves, they don't actually 2:43:34 use wheels. They lift their carriages, 2:43:36 and they put the carriage on their 2:43:38 backs. 2:43:39 It's a very peculiar Wait, tell them 2:43:40 more, Bro, about your carriage lifting 2:43:42 days. I mean, why tell them when I can 2:43:44 show them? There's carriages in here. 2:43:46 Where's your Where's your heaviest 2:43:47 carriage? I'd be happy to lift it up and 2:43:49 show you how I We need to make sure that 2:43:50 these two are 2:43:52 I'm sneaking. Yes, Ruby, please roll me 2:43:54 a stealth check. 2:43:55 >> [laughter] 2:44:01 >> Okay. 2:44:03 Ooh, that 2:44:03 >> Eight plus eight 16. I mean, a 16 does 2:44:06 it. I think a 16 is pretty good. A lot 2:44:08 of the other people who are back here in 2:44:09 the carriage works who are not 2:44:10 represented by tokens are um just kind 2:44:13 of getting on about their business in 2:44:14 the early part of the day. And so um 2:44:16 yeah, you you Are you are you actually 2:44:18 trying to like sneak in stealthily or 2:44:20 are you sort of walking in with 2:44:21 confidence and just like acting like you 2:44:23 belong in the place? 2:44:24 >> into the office. I like against the 2:44:26 wall, like trying to get in without 2:44:27 anybody seeing me in there. 2:44:29 Nice. Yeah, and I think with the 16, you 2:44:31 sort of you Mission Impossible your way 2:44:32 into the the office. Yeah. Okay. Um 2:44:36 well, um 2:44:36 >> Where is the gold in here? 2:44:39 Um that is probably going to be an 2:44:40 investigation check now because you you 2:44:43 had a good impression of it, but I think 2:44:44 you need to actually spend a bit of time 2:44:46 finding it. 2:44:48 Get in. 2:44:50 I rolled a 20. 2:44:52 >> [laughter] 2:44:52 >> That'll do it. 2:44:54 That'll do it. You go straight to the 2:44:56 bottom right desk drawer, and you 2:44:57 immediately find like a bag of cash in 2:45:00 there. Um you would guess that it's 2:45:02 about enough to cover like a decent um 2:45:06 like covered wagon. It's like the 55 2:45:09 gold that you said the deluxe model was 2:45:10 worth. Um that's about all that you can 2:45:13 grab from there, but like you you see 2:45:15 that the the way of the bag kind of 2:45:17 feels like that's about 50 55 gold. All 2:45:20 right. I grab that, and I 2:45:23 leave. 2:45:25 Fantastic. So, yeah, add 50 gold to your 2:45:27 inventory, and uh nobody is any the 2:45:29 wiser to Stella rolls. Uh in the 2:45:32 meantime, Pillsbury is just being 2:45:33 bombarded with tales of carriages from 2:45:35 the [snorts] dwarven lands. 2:45:37 Um I I I didn't know the carriages were 2:45:39 so were so um distinguished, but yeah, I 2:45:42 must must try and make a a trip back 2:45:44 that way when next I have some some paid 2:45:46 leave. 2:45:47 Oh, Bro, you should see them back in the 2:45:49 day when he used to carry King Brostiff 2:45:52 King Uh who was it again, Bro? What was 2:45:55 your king's name again? 2:45:57 Oh, yes, Brostiff III. Yeah, he was 2:46:00 great. I mean, my my my parents, Torvin 2:46:03 and Bragar, they they looked up to him 2:46:04 quite a bit. Guys. Lots of stories. Bro, 2:46:07 show Pillsbury how tough you are. Pick 2:46:09 Pillsbury up for a moment. Oh, yeah. 2:46:12 Yeah, let's do that. 2:46:13 >> I I I 2:46:14 I don't think I should be picked up. I 2:46:15 think that's quite inappropriate for 2:46:17 this this 2:46:18 this time and place. No, don't be shy. 2:46:21 What is that cat doing over there with 2:46:22 the letters? Get that cat off the 2:46:23 letters, please. Oh, Mrs. Cat, come 2:46:25 here. Oh, dear. While this is going on, 2:46:28 while this is going on, I just take the 2:46:30 bag of money that Ruby's just got, and I 2:46:32 just exchange the bag that it's in to 2:46:35 not arouse suspicion. 2:46:39 Good move. I like that. 2:46:41 Um 2:46:43 And uh so yeah, you you sort of you you 2:46:45 wave a a fresh coin pouch in Pillsbury's 2:46:48 direction. And he says, "Oh, did I say 2:46:50 you're ready to to make a purchase? I 2:46:53 honestly I didn't think our prospects 2:46:54 were all that good since yesterday, but 2:46:56 uh if you've come into some some wealth 2:46:58 about town, then who am I to argue?" 2:47:01 >> eggs, believe it or not. Big ones. Big 2:47:03 eggs? Gosh, you must have had a 2:47:05 >> Massive eggs. Hit Hit up Hal. He will 2:47:07 sort you right out. I mean, I did 2:47:10 delicious. I did smell something cooking 2:47:12 last night. It did smell tremendous. I 2:47:14 didn't have time to pass by the cat's 2:47:16 tail, but perhaps I should. 2:47:18 Right, what can we get for 2:47:21 Ruby? 2:47:23 Oh, we could buy the deluxe one. 2:47:25 Ah. 2:47:26 Oh, you're in the market for the deluxe 2:47:28 covered wagon. Yes, that'll be 2:47:29 >> of the best. And the cat scratching 2:47:31 post. 2:47:32 >> of the best. 2:47:33 >> Yes. Oh, and I'm sure like I said, we 2:47:34 can find something for the cat to 2:47:35 scratch on as long as it is not the 2:47:37 letters that the delivery folks need to 2:47:40 take care of. No, no, no, no. This is uh 2:47:42 And a cup holder for Bro. He needs a 2:47:43 place for his 2:47:45 Thank you. Oh, the cup holders The cup 2:47:47 holders come as standard. Don't worry. 2:47:49 Great. Great. Great. 2:47:51 Oh, I got one more request. I'm sorry. 2:47:53 I'm sorry, but if we could have a small 2:47:56 diving board on the back for Max for his 2:47:58 back flips, would be wonderful. Just a 2:48:01 small squishy board, maybe something 2:48:03 made out of beech, just a little bit of 2:48:04 a pliable wood. 2:48:06 >> Derek, I want to leave this morning. 2:48:08 Yes, we better make this deal sooner 2:48:10 rather than later. 2:48:11 >> leaving. 2:48:12 If you The convoy will be leaving 2:48:14 shortly. We don't have time, and I You 2:48:16 know I don't need one. 2:48:18 Yes, in fact, some of them have come to 2:48:19 pick up their carriages first thing. So, 2:48:21 uh you're perhaps the last ones out the 2:48:23 door. But uh we do still have a deluxe 2:48:25 model. I'm I'm sure we can we can work 2:48:27 this out. Just step into my office. And 2:48:30 yeah, you guys uh I don't know where the 2:48:32 office is. I could possibly remember. 2:48:34 Ruby would never I 2:48:35 >> [laughter] 2:48:37 >> Wizard, shut up. 2:48:39 With with Mr. Wizard almost giving the 2:48:41 game away, 2:48:42 every everybody moves into into 2:48:44 Pillsbury's office and 2:48:46 yeah, you complete the deal. So, he he 2:48:47 brings out the paperwork that he had 2:48:49 yesterday and and who am I putting down 2:48:51 as the the owner of this carriage? 2:48:56 Is that is that you, Wizard? 2:48:58 Oh, sure. Put me down. Mr. Wizard, of 2:49:01 course. Mr. Wizard from Windandell. Now, 2:49:04 I assume you need a full name here. 2:49:07 Um 2:49:08 Needs to be official. 2:49:09 >> as Pillsbury Wizard. 2:49:12 That is not your name. That's his name. 2:49:14 That's 2:49:15 wizzy. 2:49:16 >> First and last name. 2:49:18 Uh well, Now is not the time to hold 2:49:19 back. Put me down as Mr. Finnegan 2:49:22 Finnegan Wizard. Finnegan Wizard. Mhm. 2:49:24 Finnegan Wiz If it if it if Wizard is 2:49:26 your last name, all we can we need to 2:49:27 just put the the the title and and and 2:49:30 the surname it will do. So, Mr. Wizard 2:49:32 it is. And yeah, so you you hand over 2:49:36 >> [laughter] 2:49:37 >> 55 gold. Um are you also going to buy a 2:49:40 horse? 2:49:42 How much is How much is a horse? Uh he 2:49:45 said a draft horse is an additional 50 2:49:47 gold, 2:49:48 uh while a donkey or a mule would be 2:49:50 eight. 2:49:53 But a a donkey a donkey or a mule 2:49:55 >> carriage. 2:49:56 Can only do so much, whereas Don't look 2:49:58 at me. I'm not pulling this thing. A 2:50:00 horse you could potentially ride around 2:50:02 it carry a bunch of 2:50:03 >> come on. Cough up. Together. Every How 2:50:06 much How much we got? I have a bartering 2:50:09 a bartering 2:50:10 idea here. I have a book, you see, Mr. 2:50:13 Pillsbury. A book 2:50:14 >> How much gold, Antonio? 2:50:17 >> is worth 25 gold. I'll tell you what, 2:50:20 inside of it many plans for different 2:50:21 types of wheels. 2:50:24 >> [laughter] 2:50:24 >> Is this actually something you have or 2:50:26 are you making it up as you go? 2:50:27 >> I have a book I found in my inventory. 2:50:30 And it has sketches of wheels. 2:50:33 >> [laughter] 2:50:33 >> Does it really? 2:50:35 Oh, the um 2:50:36 the I think the book is meant to 2:50:38 represent your spellbook. 2:50:40 Oh. [groaning] 2:50:41 Don't give that away. 2:50:43 >> [laughter] 2:50:43 >> I'll keep that on. I'll keep that. I'll 2:50:45 keep that. I'll keep that. Right. I'll 2:50:47 Wheels, you say? Just full of like 2:50:49 arcane writing and like diagrams of how 2:50:51 to cast spells. If if you if you will 2:50:53 give me 10. 2:50:55 No. Uh 2:50:58 If Mrs. Cat also gives you 10 gold. 2:51:01 Yeah. I guess Ruby's fronting. 2:51:05 I gave up the entire 55. 2:51:08 Yeah. For the carriage, but we want to 2:51:10 get a horse. 2:51:10 >> Mr. Wizard, how much have you got? I 2:51:12 have 25 gold. 2:51:14 Okay. And Bray, how much you got? I got 2:51:16 68. 2:51:18 Okay. 2:51:19 So, if if Bray and 2:51:23 maybe me and Bray will front this one 2:51:25 then. 2:51:27 Yeah, I'd rather give up gold than carry 2:51:28 it myself. 2:51:30 All right. I'll 2:51:32 I'll get the horse if Bray will spot me 2:51:34 20. 2:51:35 You got it. 2:51:36 All right. So, I've I'll front 30, so 2:51:38 I'm down to 60. 2:51:40 Should we buy a donkey for a fun? Just 2:51:42 as a 2:51:43 No, Wizard. 2:51:45 >> Okay. 2:51:46 Okay. What do you want to do with this 2:51:47 donkey? Oh, you know, I've heard donkeys 2:51:49 have jokes. 2:51:51 >> him. 2:51:52 I will take a donkey, too, Pillsbury. 2:51:54 Oh, wonderful. 2:51:56 >> [laughter] 2:51:57 >> That'll be another eight bucks behind 2:51:58 the cart. He doesn't actually push. All 2:52:00 right. Yeah, I've I've taken 38 from my 2:52:03 stash. 2:52:03 >> Yes. And make that 2:52:05 a diving board in for Mr. Mr. Blunder. 2:52:07 Of course, it'll come as part of the the 2:52:09 various trimmings. 2:52:11 And yeah, so the the the total runs you 2:52:14 113 gold collectively, but I think we've 2:52:16 sorted out how that's being split and 2:52:19 yeah, the the 2:52:21 folks of the 2:52:22 the the artificers sort of working 2:52:24 behind the scenes. There's a couple of 2:52:25 gnomish folks who are already tailoring 2:52:26 the words Mr. Wizard onto the side of 2:52:28 the carriage 2:52:30 and they they bring a horse around from 2:52:32 the the nearby stables and pretty soon a 2:52:35 wagon is waiting out the front of the 2:52:37 carriage works for you with a a draft 2:52:39 horse attached. The draft horse, feel 2:52:42 free to give it a name as well because 2:52:45 you you have a effectively a new party 2:52:46 member and a donkey also needs a name if 2:52:49 I understand correctly. 2:52:52 Um Ruby, come up with a name for the 2:52:54 horse or it's otherwise going to be Mr. 2:52:56 Horse. 2:52:58 Sure. Love it. 2:53:00 Gus the horse, fantastic. Gus Gus. 2:53:02 Awesome. I will take a note. 2:53:07 And who's naming the donkey? 2:53:11 Um 2:53:15 I'm going to call him Kong. 2:53:17 Kong. 2:53:19 God, we're good at naming things. 2:53:21 Yeah. So, Kong just carries [laughter] 2:53:23 random stuff on its back behind the 2:53:25 behind the behind 2:53:27 Yeah, he's just an an additional pack 2:53:30 beast and picked up why? 2:53:34 >> [laughter] 2:53:36 >> Um 2:53:38 Cat, you're slow. Yeah, the You're slow 2:53:40 on the uptake of this one. 2:53:42 Donkey Kong. 2:53:43 >> [laughter] 2:53:45 >> The Donkey Kong reference didn't 2:53:48 didn't quite land with me at first and 2:53:49 then I was like, oh yeah, 2:53:50 >> [laughter] 2:53:51 >> I know I know where he's going with 2:53:53 this, but I feel like the moment's 2:53:54 passed. 2:53:56 Incredible stuff. So, yeah, you guys we 2:53:59 will we'll sort of hand wave 2:54:02 this bit because I don't have like the 2:54:04 the graphic of the cart ready to go, but 2:54:05 yeah, you guys put together this cart 2:54:07 and before long you are ready to join 2:54:09 the caravan that is leaving 2:54:11 the town of Nailbrook. 2:54:13 Um 2:54:14 So, you bid Nailbrook one last farewell 2:54:18 and as you set off with the caravan, 2:54:19 there are a bunch of other merchants and 2:54:21 people who are traveling. There are um 2:54:23 yeah, various other people that you've 2:54:25 met so far at Nailbrook. The musician 2:54:28 from the inn is also headed in the 2:54:30 direction of Myth Reach for the 2:54:31 tournament and so she heads off with 2:54:33 you. 2:54:34 Brohini, you find that Sir Alwyn 2:54:36 Faraday, true to his word, is also 2:54:39 joining you for the the caravan taking 2:54:41 the northern pass over to to Myth Reach 2:54:43 and 2:54:44 aiming to participate in this summer 2:54:47 tournament that you've maybe heard 2:54:48 about. journeying goes, we could do a 2:54:50 bunch of other stuff, but I think since 2:54:52 we're drawing to a close with our 2:54:53 session here, I want to speed us along 2:54:55 to where you guys end up. Um because 2:55:00 if we we'll find some some fun music to 2:55:02 play in the background here. 2:55:04 Uh 2:55:05 There we go. 2:55:07 We'll do that. 2:55:08 Um 2:55:10 The road is long 2:55:11 and your progress through the northern 2:55:13 pass is sort of slow going. 2:55:17 Um 2:55:19 There we go. Let's bring that up. 2:55:22 There we go. And especially with like 2:55:24 the the horse, the wagon, the donkey and 2:55:26 everything, 2:55:28 um the horses and the merchants in the 2:55:29 caravan 2:55:31 are not intending to hurry. Uh there's 2:55:33 still plenty of time to go before uh 2:55:36 before like midsummer when this 2:55:38 tournament is supposed to take place. 2:55:40 Um the nights are short though. It's 2:55:43 summer, it's nice and warm and swapping 2:55:46 stories around the campfire keeps 2:55:48 everyone in good spirits. 2:55:51 And after a few days travel, you round 2:55:54 the crest of the mountains 2:55:57 and you look down into the valley beyond 2:56:00 into the Kingsmoor plains, in the middle 2:56:02 of which stands 2:56:04 the lofty city of Myth Reach. 2:56:09 And something immediately feels wrong. 2:56:13 When you're looking at it straight on, 2:56:14 Myth Reach appears just as it always 2:56:17 has. A sprawling city of many districts 2:56:20 outgrowing its own walls and spiraling 2:56:22 up towards the towering central castle. 2:56:25 But as you turn your head, 2:56:27 out of the corner of your eye, 2:56:30 you see enormous vines twisting around 2:56:32 one half of the castle blooming with 2:56:34 unfathomably large flowers, impossibly 2:56:37 tall trees with roots that drink deep 2:56:40 from the lower city 2:56:41 and the sky above seems to take on these 2:56:44 pink and orange hues. 2:56:46 At the same time, the other half of the 2:56:48 city seems engulfed in darkness as 2:56:51 though the mirage of these trees has 2:56:53 cast this long shadow that persists even 2:56:56 when the sun is at its peak. All color 2:56:59 seems to fade and drain from it leaving 2:57:01 a charcoal sketch of itself, this 2:57:03 inkblot of deep black and bone white. As 2:57:06 you stand on this sort of hillside 2:57:08 overlooking Myth Reach, just on the edge 2:57:10 of your perception, something terrible 2:57:13 has happened to the city. 2:57:16 And to find out what, 2:57:18 you'll have to join us next time for 2:57:19 session four. 2:57:21 No. 2:57:23 >> [laughter] 2:57:23 >> Next week, right? 2:57:25 Next week. Next week. That's the plan. 2:57:27 Well done, Pips. Very good. 2:57:32 This was a lot of fun. And there's going 2:57:35 to be a little bit more fun character 2:57:37 stuff that I have planned that we didn't 2:57:39 quite get to in this time for the for 2:57:40 the in the interest of time, 2:57:42 but yeah, I hope you guys have enjoyed 2:57:45 like a little sneak peek at what might 2:57:46 be happening with some of our 2:57:47 characters. 2:57:48 Um 2:57:49 And there is more to come. Trust me, 2:57:51 there is more to come. But I think once 2:57:53 we reach Myth Reach, you guys are 2:57:55 officially going to be level three. 2:57:57 Um so, from that point onwards, we're 2:58:00 going to have some fun choices for 2:58:02 everybody to make, which behind the 2:58:04 scenes the players have been chatting to 2:58:05 me about what their eventual character 2:58:07 subclasses are going to be and that's 2:58:09 when we get into it from level three 2:58:12 onwards. So, 2:58:14 at the start of session four, we'll do a 2:58:15 little bit of that stuff so that the 2:58:16 folks at home can get a good feel for 2:58:18 that, but overall, 2:58:21 uh I think the 2:58:22 next arc of things is going to be 2:58:25 a lot of fun. It's going to be new 2:58:27 powers, it's going to be new environment 2:58:30 and there's going to be a lot of 2:58:31 mysterious stuff happening in Myth Reach 2:58:33 that I'm very excited to get to all of 2:58:36 you. 2:58:36 I love the cart. Oh my god. I'm glad we 2:58:39 had a little like in between episode. 2:58:41 Yeah. 2:58:42 >> Yeah. We got we we we did some vital 2:58:46 material gathering, you know, 2:58:48 >> You you sold some stuff. You bought some 2:58:50 stuff. 2:58:51 We got I'm I'm stacked up on potions and 2:58:54 [music] 2:58:54 >> some dance moves. 2:58:55 >> expensive, by the way. Those things cost 2:58:57 as a cart. 2:58:58 Yeah. Yeah, I know. 2:59:00 >> Health potions save your life. 2:59:02 Well, yeah, that's why 2:59:03 >> didn't buy me anything. 2:59:04 >> though I was hoarding the money, I was 2:59:06 putting it towards the the good of the 2:59:08 the crew. Yes. Mhm. 2:59:11 Uh so, I want to see some cool fan art 2:59:13 of the cart with the diving board on the 2:59:15 back for uh bro. Yeah. 2:59:16 >> We we've we've got like a we've got like 2:59:18 a fully specked out like a tricked out 2:59:20 wagon for you guys that yeah, that would 2:59:22 be absolutely a joy to see. 2:59:25 Um I'm going to do what we did last time 2:59:27 and quickly do stars and wishes with 2:59:28 everybody. So, we're going to go around 2:59:29 the group. Everyone's going to say one 2:59:30 thing that they really like that another 2:59:32 player did that they want to award a 2:59:33 star to and then a wish for upcoming 2:59:37 sessions and the future of the campaign 2:59:39 in general. Um let's start a quick 2:59:42 encounter with everybody. So, you can 2:59:43 roll initiative and see who goes first. 2:59:45 Um let's put you all in combat state. 2:59:49 There we go. 2:59:50 Uh all right, everybody roll initiative 2:59:52 for me. 2:59:54 Oh, shoot. Oh, crap. Um 2:59:59 Oh. 3:00:04 I like that our um the party is we got 3:00:06 what, three animals now? 3:00:08 >> [laughter] 3:00:09 >> Yeah, 3:00:10 you're picking up a lot of uh a lot of 3:00:12 bonus things. Just a donkey for no 3:00:14 reason as well. 3:00:16 Uh right, who's Me and Mr. Me and Scar 3:00:20 first. Scar, you can go Yeah. Yeah, I 3:00:23 think I think 3:00:24 >> I I remember that I liked. I'm trying to 3:00:25 remember what it is. You go. What was 3:00:26 it? It was the 3:00:28 the 3:00:29 You go first. I I'm I'm blanking on what 3:00:31 I was thinking. 3:00:32 I loved the dice in my encounter. Mhm. 3:00:37 >> Like I I was getting I was getting it 3:00:39 handed to me by this cockatrice quite 3:00:43 naturally. Like it was 3:00:45 I would it was hitting me and I was not 3:00:47 doing a lot to it. 3:00:49 And then 3:00:50 after my encounter and discovering 3:00:54 which god had been looking out for me, I 3:00:56 then like 3:00:58 aurad that thing into oblivion. Like 3:01:02 like the idea of bursting out of the 3:01:04 stone and casting uh what was it? Like 3:01:08 guiding bolt. Guiding bolt at a 3:01:12 whopping 18 damage was like Goku. Do you 3:01:16 know what I mean? It was it was just a 3:01:18 really really epic series of events that 3:01:21 you just you couldn't you couldn't make 3:01:23 that happen 3:01:25 the way it did. And I and and to to 3:01:27 clarify, no strings can be pulled behind 3:01:29 the scenes to affect player dice rolls 3:01:30 from my perspective. Like that was all 3:01:32 just the dice being incredible 3:01:33 collaborators. So, shout out to the 3:01:36 dice. 3:01:37 All right, uh Green, any wishes for next 3:01:39 session or the future of the campaign in 3:01:41 general? Cuz we didn't learn about the 3:01:43 circus yet. So, obviously that's still 3:01:45 uh that's still there from last time. 3:01:48 Yeah. 3:01:49 Um 3:01:50 My wish I guess now is that I need to 3:01:53 figure out how I go down this side quest 3:01:57 that I've been given or this main quest. 3:01:59 Like my new sense of purpose of made a 3:02:01 deal with the duck. 3:02:02 And I but I don't know how. I don't know 3:02:05 anything other than what the duck wants, 3:02:08 which is to rejoin the gods. That's 3:02:10 correct? Yeah. 3:02:12 And I don't know how. So, my thoughts 3:02:14 are going forward 3:02:16 that I'll find answers in Myth Reach, 3:02:18 which is a much bigger place. And I'm 3:02:20 hoping to find some direction there 3:02:23 one way or another. 3:02:26 Awesome. 3:02:28 Can we return to you, Scar? Have you got 3:02:30 uh an idea of your what your star was? 3:02:32 Okay, there was something that Green did 3:02:34 that made me really laugh very hard and 3:02:36 I don't remember what it was. 3:02:37 >> Was it eating the ice cream cuz that 3:02:39 wasn't part [laughter] of the plan? 3:02:40 >> That was part. That was funny. But there 3:02:42 was something but the other funny part 3:02:43 was when um the the knight was supposed 3:02:46 to like teach Impulse all these tricks 3:02:49 but he just kept losing over and over 3:02:51 again. I kept saying in the chat like 3:02:52 Star Wars quotes. I was like I was like 3:02:55 where I was once the learner, I am now 3:02:56 the master. Impulse is like 3:02:59 >> [laughter] 3:03:00 >> I love that. Yeah, he was trying to be 3:03:01 very Obi-Wan and he ended up really like 3:03:05 goofing some of those rolls up. So, uh 3:03:07 yeah, poor poor Allen. 3:03:08 >> for him. His his his best days may be 3:03:10 behind him but uh yeah. We're good. 3:03:13 >> There was something that Green did that 3:03:14 made me laugh like crazy. I just it's 3:03:16 like 3:03:16 >> it? Was it earlier or It was middle 3:03:19 game. It was middle. I just blanked. 3:03:21 >> town? 3:03:22 It might have been. I just forgot. It 3:03:23 was maybe laugh quite a bit. 3:03:26 We'll we'll go back and find it in the 3:03:28 VOD and I'll retroactively add it to the 3:03:30 document that I'm keeping all this info 3:03:32 in. 3:03:33 Um Scar, do you have a wish for next 3:03:35 session or the rest of the campaign in 3:03:37 general? 3:03:38 Um I have came up or at least I've 3:03:41 started the threads of of a bit more of 3:03:43 Mr. Wizard's backstory, 3:03:45 um where he came from, kind of what 3:03:47 maybe happened to his town and why he 3:03:49 didn't go to those magical schools he 3:03:51 was promised. Yeah. I have some ideas in 3:03:54 the back of my head on how um Mr. Wizard 3:03:56 um his story will progress. So, 3:03:59 um yeah, I just like to build his 3:04:00 backstory. That's that's what I enjoy 3:04:02 and all of his little like past things 3:04:04 that keep popping up. And you know, he 3:04:06 does 3:04:08 have some trips into different realms. 3:04:10 So, sometimes he throws out a random 3:04:12 tidbit that nobody knows what he's 3:04:13 talking about because it's from another 3:04:15 realm. 3:04:16 Mhm. I enjoy pulling those up. Yeah, 3:04:18 those are those are super fun. I I 3:04:20 always I always enjoy coming to these 3:04:22 sessions knowing absolutely nothing 3:04:24 about what you're planning to throw out 3:04:26 there but immediately going, yeah, I 3:04:29 know what I'm doing with that. And like 3:04:30 I've got a couple of things that are 3:04:31 that are cooking away. 3:04:32 >> out a one at all Arnold Palmer and then 3:04:34 the party was like, I don't know what 3:04:36 that means. He goes, ah, it's from 3:04:37 another realm. Don't worry about it. Put 3:04:39 a little lemon in my tea. Yeah, at 3:04:42 at the moment I I love an Arnold Palmer 3:04:44 and every every time like that got 3:04:46 brought up, I was like I really wish I 3:04:48 could have this character yes and and be 3:04:49 like I know what that is just cuz I like 3:04:51 the drink so much. Um 3:04:53 fantastic. Uh Impulse, Gem, who is next? 3:04:56 Uh I think it's Impulse next, right? 3:04:58 >> Yeah, I rolled a 12. [music] Um 3:04:59 >> Yes. 3:05:00 Can I give a star to the the the DM? Can 3:05:02 I give it to you guys? 3:05:04 >> I'll take it if if you want to. 3:05:06 Yeah, yeah, I'm going to do 3:05:07 cuz I I really liked that, you know, I I 3:05:10 split off and I don't know if like you 3:05:12 knew that was going to happen or what 3:05:13 but like allowing me to to kind of like 3:05:16 play into this desire to 3:05:18 uh continue my battle prowess education 3:05:21 and stuff. Like it kind of feeds into 3:05:23 this this lore idea that I left my my 3:05:26 keep, my family to go out and learn and 3:05:31 uh discover. And so, you know, meeting 3:05:33 up with Sir Alwyn and and learning some 3:05:36 some moves from him was like super 3:05:37 clever uh to to give me that 3:05:39 opportunity. I was a little bit sad that 3:05:42 I didn't find any new like weapon tech 3:05:46 in and it was a bad roll, I think. I 3:05:48 don't know what would have happened if I 3:05:49 rolled a better roll in there. But um uh 3:05:52 I I'm hoping I get more opportunities to 3:05:54 discover like more weapon tech but like 3:05:56 the way that you led me to that 3:05:58 situation to get more training with Sir 3:06:00 Alwyn, I thought it was brilliant. So, I 3:06:02 want to give you a star for that. 3:06:03 >> Oh, thank you. Thank you. Yeah, now I I 3:06:05 I had a 3:06:06 couple of things in mind but I feel like 3:06:08 this is still like a fairly small kind 3:06:10 of country town kind of place and I feel 3:06:12 like Myth Reach is going to be a place 3:06:14 that will blow bro's mind in terms of 3:06:16 the technology and all of the stuff they 3:06:17 have for sale there. So, that might be 3:06:19 him headed in the right direction with 3:06:21 you 3:06:22 following the caravan. Uh do you have a 3:06:24 wish for next time? 3:06:26 I I think that was it, you know, just 3:06:28 like my wish is that I I will be able to 3:06:30 have opportunities to continue that 3:06:33 discovery of of, you know, weapon tech 3:06:35 and and and, you know, get more more 3:06:38 battles and and things like that, you 3:06:39 know, Heck yeah. 3:06:41 >> So. Very cool. All right. And rounding 3:06:44 off the group, Gem, award somebody a 3:06:47 star. 3:06:48 Green, I think your cleric story is very 3:06:50 good and I didn't expect a duck. 3:06:53 What [snorts] the heck's wrong with you? 3:06:54 Nobody expects 3:06:55 the duck. 3:06:56 >> [laughter] 3:06:56 >> No one saw that coming. 3:06:59 You're very clever. It was very good 3:07:01 storytelling. [music] I liked it. 3:07:03 Heck yeah. And a wish for next time? 3:07:07 I guess I'm just still working on Ruby's 3:07:09 story. Just need to 3:07:11 need to keep progressing what the heck 3:07:14 I'm doing with her. 3:07:15 Yes, I have some questions for you at 3:07:17 some stage. So, I will I will probably 3:07:19 send you those over the weekend and then 3:07:20 I can get cooking. Cool. 3:07:22 >> Um lovely. All right, still working on 3:07:24 Ruby's story. Fantastic. As always, I 3:07:27 could just give a star to all of you 3:07:28 guys because this is so such a delight 3:07:30 to return to every time. So, 3:07:32 uh yeah, I'm I'm really looking forward 3:07:34 to next time. My wish is that uh I have 3:07:37 enough time to get everything together 3:07:38 for session four but I will and it will 3:07:39 be 3:07:40 >> Yeah, quick turnaround. Oh. 3:07:42 >> [laughter] 3:07:43 >> Uh 3:07:44 So, uh what day is that? 3:07:46 Uh that's probably going to be we're 3:07:48 looking at the 26th. 3:07:50 >> but we should gently place that there 3:07:53 and not Yes, we're we're we're penciled 3:07:56 in right now. I'm not going to make any 3:07:58 announcements on Twitter that I then 3:07:59 have to retract. Say like Not yet. Not 3:08:01 yet. We [laughter] no, we we literally 3:08:03 wait for Pix to send something out and 3:08:05 then we're like, well, actually 3:08:07 >> [laughter] 3:08:07 >> I have something I need to do and yeah. 3:08:10 The calendars are looking a little full. 3:08:12 Yeah, I I have a really busy week and I 3:08:14 know you guys have like charity stuff 3:08:15 coming up and all kinds of stuff. 3:08:17 Yeah, but we'll try. Stay tuned. Don't 3:08:21 touch that dial. We will be uh we'll be 3:08:23 back sooner than you think, hopefully. 3:08:26 Um in the meantime, thank you once again 3:08:28 to the players for playing. Thank you to 3:08:29 all of you at home for watching and uh 3:08:32 yeah, Gigg's D&D will return. 3:08:35 Thanks, Gigg. 3:08:36 See you all soon. 3:08:37 >> awesome. Aw, thanks, Biggs. Yeah, see 3:08:40 you guys. I'll I'll send us out. 3:08:43 Oh, no. [laughter] 3:08:48 Farewell, friends. See you all soon. I 3:08:51 liked it. 3:08:52 What? 3:08:56 I am ending that collaboration. Oh, that 3:08:59 ends me entirely. Hello. 3:09:02 Aw, hi, chat. No music cuz don't have 3:09:05 any. That was a good session. We needed 3:09:07 a little like in-between sessions 3:09:09 session, you know? A little a little 3:09:11 little less intense, a little more 3:09:13 shopping. I like it. I like where Ruby's 3:09:15 going. I'm enjoying playing the 3:09:17 character Ruby. Biggs is an absolute 3:09:20 delight as a DM as per usual. That is 3:09:24 insanely awesome. I'm very, very happy. 3:09:27 I have to decide what Ruby's dress looks 3:09:29 like. I don't have an answer for you. 3:09:31 When she puts it on, I will give some 3:09:33 descriptors, I suppose. I don't really 3:09:36 know yet. 3:09:38 I'm excited. I mean, we're going to a 3:09:40 bigger town, so there'll be 3:09:41 opportunities hopefully for her to want 3:09:42 to look nice. 3:09:43 Feel like that was 3:09:45 a good thing for her to want to do. I 3:09:47 have to decide if she still wants to be 3:09:49 like stealing stuff all the time. I 3:09:50 don't really know where I'm going with 3:09:51 that. Anyways, I do know 3:09:54 that I'm going to end stream, I think. 3 3:09:56 hours is pretty good. 3:09:58 I've got work to do on HermitCraft. I'm 3:10:00 building the base a ton this week. Um, 3:10:03 putting a big like center tower in. It's 3:10:06 getting quite a lot taller. I'm very 3:10:09 excited to show you all. Hopefully an 3:10:10 episode on Sunday and I have MCC on 3:10:13 Saturday, so I'll be streaming then. And 3:10:15 I might stream tomorrow if I'm feeling 3:10:18 okay. It'll either be friends lop or MCC 3:10:21 practice or HermitCraft, but I'm it 3:10:22 might be neither. It might be neither if 3:10:24 I need to work on a HermitCraft episode 3:10:26 instead. We'll see.
