SBV to SRT converter: questions

What is an SBV file?

SBV (SubViewer) is the caption format YouTube Studio offers for download. Each cue is a "start, end" time line followed by the text.

Can I convert SBV to VTT too?

Yes. Convert to SRT here, then use the SRT to VTT converter, or paste the .sbv into that page directly: the tool reads SRT, VTT and SBV.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. Files up to 5 MB work.

Can I get subtitles straight from a YouTube video?

Yes. Paste the video link into our YouTube to SRT or YouTube to VTT tool and download the captions without needing a file first.
