VTT to SRT converter: questions

Why convert VTT to SRT?

SRT is the most widely supported subtitle format. Many video editors and older players read SRT but not WebVTT.

What happens to positioning and styling?

SRT has no positioning, so VTT cue settings (align, position, line) and voice or class tags are dropped. Italic, bold and underline are kept.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. Files up to 5 MB work.

Can I get subtitles straight from a YouTube video?

Yes. Paste the video link into our YouTube to SRT or YouTube to VTT tool and download the captions without needing a file first.
